These venues cater to mercenaries, elite guards, and frontline champions seeking combat relics. Purchasing the tooth pendant involves dealing with a garrison quartermaster or master armorer. - Sale Payout: 10 Silver in physical gold coin (black-market buyers offer higher rates when supplying pit-fighters, raiders, or assassins who need untraceable martial charms)
Roleplay Application of Kahuna 314 of the Warlord’s Tooth Across Environments (Combat and Tactical Roleplay in Varied Environments)
- Siege Fortresses and Castle Ramparts: Atop stone crenellations, gatehouses, and high battlements under heavy artillery bombardment and arrow fire.
- Defensive Roleplay: A siege engineer fires a ballista bolt that shatters nearby battlements, showering the avatar in jagged stone shrapnel while an enemy raider lunges forward to disarm them. As the blade strikes, the Martial Shield passive triggers. The carved shark tooth flares with a deep crimson glow, converting the kinetic impact into a humming force field that deflects the shrapnel and prevents the avatar’s spear straps and scabbard from being cut or torn away.
- Offensive Roleplay: Leading a charge across a breached gatehouse against a line of shield-bearing defenders, the avatar activates Battle Cry of the Kahuna. The player describes slamming the fossilized tooth against the boss of their shield. A booming crimson shockwave washes over the enemy line as the tooth emits a roar like crashing surf and distant war drums. The defenders flinch and falter under the intimidating display, suffering a penalty to their counter-attacks.
- Dense Forest Ambush Sites and Jungle Trails: Within thick foliage, muddy ravine trails, and overgrown ruins where hidden archers and beasts stalk prey.
- Defensive Roleplay: An unseen enemy sniper fires an arrow from the canopy aimed at cutting the avatar’s weapon belt. The Vanguard Instinct passive sharpens the avatar’s reflexes, allowing them to twist just as the arrow strikes. The Martial Shield absorbs the arrow’s head into a crimson spark, preserving the avatar’s ammo pouch and keeping their main blade ready to draw.
- Offensive Roleplay: Spotting an ambush before it springs, the avatar uses War-Spirit Resolve on a startled ally who was caught off-guard by enemy archers. The player presses the obsidian-beaded pendant against their companion’s shoulder. The thunderous rhythm of ancestral war drums echoes in the ally’s mind, instantly snapping them out of their Dazed and Shaken state while surging their physical strength for an immediate counter-charge.
- Blood-Slicked Dueling Pits and Coliseums: Inside sandy pit-fighting arenas, gladiator cages, and grand coliseums surrounded by roaring crowds.
- Defensive Roleplay: A seasoned pit-fighter attempts a sweeping disarm maneuver with a hook-sword, aiming to send the avatar’s sword flying into the arena sand. The Martial Shield activates instantly, locking the sword handle into the avatar’s grip with a crimson kinetic pulse that completely neutralizes the disarm attempt.
- Offensive Roleplay: Cornering the arena champion against the wooden palisade, the avatar activates Battle Cry of the Kahuna. Striking the carved tooth against the flat of their blade, a crimson light flashes across the arena floor. The supernatural ferocity unnerves the champion, breaking their focus and forcing them back onto their heels.
- Narrow Subterranean Tunnels and Cave Passages: Deep within cramped cavern halls, abandoned mines, and subterranean strongholds where pitch darkness reigns.
- Defensive Roleplay: A subterranean beast leaps from the darkness to crush the avatar against the low stone ceiling. The Martial Shield’s force buffer absorbs the heavy blunt trauma directed at the avatar’s chest and armor fittings, keeping their breastplate straps intact and their balance stable in the tight space.
- Offensive Roleplay: When a companion falls back in terror after encountering a terrifying cavern beast in the dark, the avatar uses War-Spirit Resolve. The player steps into the frontline and presses the Warlord’s Tooth against the ally’s arm. The booming echo of war drums breaks the cavern’s oppressive silence, instantly purging the ally’s Frightened condition and instilling the courage needed to fight side-by-side.

Negatives
- The bright crimson flash and booming war-drum sound make stealthy or ambush-based activations impossible.
- The strong scent of ozone, iron, and volcanic ash can easily reveal the user’s presence to keen-nosed beasts or trackers.
- The sudden adrenaline surge and heat flare can leave the user feeling mild muscle soreness or physical exhaustion after the activation subsides.
- The aggressive, predatory nature of the crimson aura can make peaceful surrender or casual diplomacy difficult while the magic remains active.
Crafting Recipe: Kahuna 314 of the Warlord’s Tooth
Materials Needed
- 1 Fossilized Megalodon Shark Tooth (carved with war runes)
- 1 strip of refined Silver Wire (drawn and coiled for the filigree casing)
- 1 length of braided Sinew Cord (for the main lanyard)
- 6 polished Volcanic Obsidian Beads (threaded as accent conduits along the cord)
- 1 Tier 1 Magic Crystal (coin-sized catalyst to power the martial matrix)
- 2 drams of Fluid Collector-harvested Tree Sap (hardwood resin to bind the silver wire to the tooth)
- 1 vial of enchanted Crimson-Dust Ink (used to etch the crashing wave, crossed spear, and war mask motifs)
Tools Required
- Fine jeweler’s chisels, bone saws, and wire-shaping pliers
- A specialized Hand-Held Attunement Workbench or Jeweler’s Anvil
- A Fluid Collector (for gathering pure tree sap resin during preparation)
- Precision silver-soldering iron and micro-engraving needles
- Fine polishing cloths and pumice powder
Skill Requirements
- Bone Carving / Jewelry Crafting Skill: Level 6 or higher (Base skill 5 + 1 for Tier 1 crafting target)
- Magical Crafting / Rune Inscription Skill: Level 6 or higher
- Crafter Tier: Tier 1 Avatar or higher
Crafting Steps
- Shaping and Polishing the Tooth: Clean and saw the fossilized megalodon shark tooth into a sharp, balanced pendant shape. Polish the enamel with pumice powder until smooth.
- Embedding the Catalyst: Drill a small cavity into the root of the shark tooth. Insert the coin-sized Tier 1 magic crystal into the center, sealing it securely with harvested tree sap resin.
- Forging the Silver Casing: Wrap refined silver wire tightly around the root and edges of the tooth, soldering the joints to form a protective frame and a top lanyard loop.
- Inscribing the Martial Runes: Using micro-engraving needles, etch crashing waves, crossed spears, and war mask motifs directly onto the tooth enamel and silver wire casing. Fill the carved grooves with enchanted crimson-dust ink.
- Sealing and Binding: Apply a thin coat of harvested tree sap resin over the engraved runes and silver wire to protect the bone and metal against blood, moisture, and corrosion.
- Threading the Cord: Weave three strands of sinew cord into a strong, flexible neck lanyard, threading six volcanic obsidian beads symmetrically above the tooth loop. Secure the assembly with a double-clove hitch.
- Final Attunement and War-Drum Striking: Place the completed pendant onto the attunement workbench and perform a 10-minute binding ritual. Channel 1 point of Mana into the crystal catalyst while striking the tooth against a iron anvil or weapon flat. Roll a d20 to test matrix stability: a roll of 2 or higher successfully binds the war-spirit resonance to the pendant, while a roll of 1 shatters the fossilized tooth and consumes the raw materials.
Great Shark Tooth and Thunder of Shore
In the ancient times before the tall stone towers did stand upon the high hills, when the great sea-beasts did swim near the sandy beaches of Saṃsāra, there did walk a famous warrior-kahuna who was named Kahuna of the Iron Jaw. He was a man of big bones and thick legs, whose skin was like the tough leather of the old river-lizard, and whose voice was like the falling of big rocks into the deep water.
In those ancient sun-cycles, the tribes of the salt-marshes were constantly hitting one another with wooden clubs and sharp bone spears. Whenever two war-parties did meet upon the narrow grass path, their hearts would become filled with the hot black smoke of fear and rage. The young men who carried the bamboo spears would tremble like leaves in the high wind, dropping their shields into the mud and running into the deep bushes with crying faces. When the battle was finished, many spears were found broken in half, many leather shields were torn like rotten leaves, and the warrior chiefs did weep because their warriors had no spirit inside their bellies.
The Grand Chief of the Vanguard Coast called Kahuna of the Iron Jaw to his high platform of carved cedar and spoke with a sharp wind: “O Kahuna, my young warriors are like soft grass before the heavy foot of the wild buffalo! When the raiders come from the outer islands with big shouts, my men do lose their weapons in the sand and their hands become weak like water! Make for me a strong charm that puts the heavy stone into their arms and stops their spear-straps from snapping in the fight, or I shall throw thee into the pit of the snapping turtles!”
Kahuna walked along the sharp volcanic rocks of the dark coast for seven suns and seven moons where the white ocean foam hits the black stones. He looked into the crashing waves where the giant grey shark hunts the big fish. He saw a great sea-beast die upon the rocks after a fierce battle with a giant squid. Upon the black sand, Kahuna found the biggest tooth of the shark, long like the hand of a grown man, hard like mountain flint, and sharp enough to slice the falling leaf in two.
Kahuna carried the heavy shark tooth unto his cave of basalt rock. He took silver wire drawn from the cold mountain veins and black beads made from the frozen fire of the volcano. He sat upon a flat stone for seven nights while the heavy rain fell outside. He wrapped the silver wire around the root of the tooth like the sea-snake wraps around its prey. He strung six black obsidian beads upon the braided sinew of the wild bull. He spoke the ancient words of the tide-warriors, which are written down poorly in our old books as: “O Tooth of the Great Swimmer, let the spear remain firm in the hand! Let the iron blade not snap upon the shield! Put the thunder of the war-drum into the belly of the coward!”
He held the shark tooth high over his head and struck it against his iron war-axe.
BOOM-CLANG-ROAR!
A bright red light like the burning blood of the sun came out from the tooth! It was not a small candle-flicker, but a hot crimson glare that painted the cave walls with red fire. A sound like a thousand war-drums beating at once did echo through the dark valley, making the wild birds fly out of the trees with loud screams.
Kahuna walked into the grand battlefield where forty raiders from the northern islands were charging toward a small village with raised bone cleavers. The village guardians were shaking with great terror, ready to drop their weapons and run into the swamp. Kahuna did step onto the front line and raised the carved tooth into the red sky. He struck the silver wire against his bronze bracer.
BOOM-CLANG-ROAR!
Lo! The bright crimson light did cover the village guardians like a cloak of red iron! The shaking in their legs did stop at once! Their eyes became wide and clear like the hawk, and the red force-field did wrap around their spear-shafts and shield-straps. When the northern raiders did strike with their heavy bone cleavers, the blades did bounce off the red light with loud sparks, and not a single weapon was knocked from the guardians’ hands! The village warriors did shout with a fierce roaring voice, charging forward and driving the raiders back into the sea waves.
For fifty winters, Kahuna of the Iron Jaw carried the shark tooth into a hundred battles. Wherever he walked, the young warriors became like stone pillars, their armor did not break, and their weapons remained true in their hands.
When Kahuna became an old man whose hair was white like the sea-foam, he gave the Warlord’s Tooth to his eldest son, who was named Kahuna the Brash. But the ancient translation says that the son was foolish and full of vain pride. He took the Warlord’s Tooth into the grand arena of the King, wanting to use the crimson magic to strike down a helpless, bound prisoner for the amusement of the laughing crowd.
When the foolish son did strike the shark tooth against his sword to show off his power before the throne, the tooth did not give the glorious red light of valor! It made a terrible, shrieking sound like a dying pig! SCREECH-CRACK-HISS! The silver wire did twist like a dying worm, and a blinding cloud of black ash burst into the son’s face. The shockwave knocked him flat upon his back in the dirt, and his fine iron sword shattered into twenty small pieces! The King and the crowd did laugh with great mockery, pointing their fingers at his shame. The shark tooth slipped from his burning hand and fell down between the cracks of the wooden floorboards, lost in the dark dirt below the arena floor.
Many generations passed while the tooth lay buried in the cold earth, until an arena digger found it while clearing away old bones. The tooth was cleaned with palm oil and sold to the high captains of the Vanguard Citadel, who wrote its deeds upon the copper plates. But all who put on armor across the lands of Saṃsāra still tell the ancient story of the shark tooth of Kahuna that hardens the spear-arm and drives the shadow of fear from the warrior’s heart.
Moral of the Story: He who carries the spirit of valor to shield his people and stand firm against the invader shall find his blade strong and his arm steady, but he who turns the sacred weapon of defense into an instrument of cruel pride shall see his sword shatter in his hand and lie broken in the dust.
