Lore

  • The origin of this artifact is traced to a high-altitude diplomatic crisis within a floating sanctuary, where a disgraced Auditor of the Aeronautical Bureau sought to reconcile the cold mathematics of trade with the chaotic warmth of spiritual trickery.
  • Seeking to stabilize the “Fiscal Chill” of their indexed wings, the auditor ingested a Luminous Salad prepared by a forest mystic, which infused their biological essence with the bioluminescent resonance of the Zephyrblade Beetle.
  • While their aura was still radiating with this emerald-green vitality, they were gifted a Radiant Ofuda by a trickster monk who claimed that “truth is the only currency that never devalues.”
  • The interaction between the electrum-indexed feathers, the solar-infused sunstone, and the beetle-essence caused a spontaneous alchemical fusion, physically bonding the three items into a singular, permanent biological-mechanical shroud.
  • This merger transformed the cold, administrative data-vanes into a living, radiant ledger that judges the “moral temperature” of the economy while projecting a beacon of truth across the sky.

Description

  • The artifact is a singular physical object that takes the form of an integrated wing-shroud and neck-mantle.
  • The primary structure is composed of slate-grey iridescent feathers overlaid with paper-thin electrum slips, each etched with golden solar runes that shimmer like sunlit ink.
  • A silver vine-worked pendant is anchored at the base of the throat, housing a sunstone shard that pulses with a persistent, emerald-green bioluminescence derived from the beetle-essence.
  • From this central pendant, a single, unfurled parchment ofuda trails downward, its golden script dancing in the air and physically weaving into the electrum vanes of the wings.
  • When the wings are flared, a translucent, golden holographic grid projects outward, shimmering with a soft green mist and smelling of lavender, sunflowers, and fresh calligraphy ink.
  • The item feels perpetually warm to the touch, radiating a steadying heat that vibrates in cadence with the wearer’s heartbeat.

Multiple Passives Magic

  • The Audited Soul: The wearer is permanently immune to fear, despair, and magical darkness. The wings automatically record every transaction and spoken oath the wearer witnesses, storing the data as radiant glyphs within the electrum slips for indefinite retrieval.
  • Thermal Prosperity Sense: The plumage monitors both financial and spiritual “heat.” The wearer instinctively knows the prosperity of a market and the moral alignment of individuals within 30 feet, as the feathers vibrate with warmth for the honest and wealthy, and turn icy-cold for the deceitful or destitute.
  • Aura of Amicable Authority: Allies within 20 feet gain a +2 morale bonus to all saves and are cloaked in a subtle, enchanting radiance that grants advantage on social interactions involving cooperation.
  • Aerodynamic Solstice: The wearer gains a massive bonus to flight-based Athletics and Navigation checks. The indexed feathers calculate the most cost-effective wind currents while the sunstone shard provides perfect visibility through storms, mana-clouds, or illusory fog.

Multiple Active Magics

  • Spreadsheet of Truth (Normal Casting): The wearer flares their wings, projecting a massive golden grid. This displays the HP, Mana, and current “Truth-Status” of all creatures within 60 feet. Attempts to lie within this radius suffer a massive penalty as the golden runes on the wings flare red in response to falsehood.
  • Burst of Vexing Shorthand (Silent Casting): As a reaction to an attack, the wearer sheds a cloud of shimmery, ink-scented “Shorthand Smoke.” This creates a 10-foot radius of obscuration that disorients attackers, imposing disadvantage on attack rolls and granting the wearer a +3 bonus to AC against the triggering strike.
  • Solstice Flare (1/day): The wearer releases the combined solar and beetle energy from the central jade-sunstone. This emits a blinding emerald-gold light in a 40-foot radius that dispels all magical darkness, reveals all hidden or invisible entities, and forces shadow-aligned creatures to succeed on a DC 18 Spirit save or be stunned.
  • Radiant Logistics Bond (Ritual): By spending 10 minutes chanting and focusing on a shared goal with allies, the wearer creates a holographic thread connecting the party. This bond grants all participants a temporary +5 health bonus and allows them to share the wearer’s “Thermal Auditing” sense for one hour.

Specific Slot: Worn Item (Feathers/Neck)

  • The Vane-Script Solstice Shroud 7721 possesses 60 Item Hit Points. This structural and magical threshold is determined by its classification as a tier 3 artifact, calculating at a rate of 20 hit points per tier.
  • To disable the item’s magic, an attacker must successfully deplete all 60 hit points through targeted sunder attempts. The shroud is physically reinforced by its electrum-foil slips and silver vine-work, making it highly resilient to mundane slashing or piercing. However, it is vulnerable to shadow-based corruption, concentrated acid, and high-tier necrotic magic which can stain the parchment ofuda and dim the sunstone shard.
  • If the item is reduced to zero hit points, the electrum slips become brittle and grey, the jade-sunstone turns opaque, and the holographic grid collapses into a shower of inert gold sparks. In this state, the avatar loses all passive and active magical benefits, and the flight-based skill bonuses are negated as the vanes lose their aerodynamic calculus.
  • Repairing the artifact requires a specialized, multi-disciplinary restoration process because avatars and their equipment gain absolutely zero restorative benefits from a short rest in the world of Saṃsāra.
  • Minor damage, such as faded runes or scratched electrum, requires 4 hours of labor from a master wing-smith or a high-tier calligrapher. They must use alchemical ink infused with Zephyrblade Beetle essence and silver-polishing compounds. The cost for these rare materials is approximately 150 Silver Pieces.
  • Severe damage that has disabled the item’s magic requires a formal “Re-Indexing Ritual” conducted in a designated safe area, such as a Monastic Peace Shop or an Aeronautical Bureau repair bay. This process requires 12 hours of uninterrupted focus by a collaborative team of crafters.
  • The restoration involves re-etching the golden solar runes with a Micro-Precision Stylus, replacing damaged electrum foil, and re-attuning the sunstone shard under direct midday sunlight or a Solar Prism Forge.
  • The cost for a full restoration of a disabled tier 3 shroud is 300 Platinum, reflecting the necessity of rare solar resins, fresh sun-blessed parchment, and the expert labor required to re-stitch the dual natures of the administrative and divine magics. Once the hit points are restored to 60, the emerald-green bioluminescence returns and all active and passive magics are immediately reinstated.

The acquisition of the Vane-Script Solstice Shroud 7721 is a high-stakes endeavor due to its Tier 3 classification and the complex synthesis of bureaucratic, divine, and insectoid magics. Because it is a “merged” artifact, it is rarely found as a standard shelf item. The methods for obtaining this shroud are governed by the elite sectors of Saṃsāra’s high-altitude and spiritual societies.

  • Bureaucratic Merit Award: Senior Auditors who have served the Aeronautical Bureau of Commerce for over a decade and have successfully mediated a major trade war between floating islands may be awarded a commissioned shroud. This requires the avatar to already possess a high-standing “Flight-and-Finance” license and a record of non-violent dispute resolution.
  • Salvage from High-Altitude Wrecks: During intense mana-storms, high-tier auditors or diplomat-avian avatars may fall into the “Draft-Zones” or uncharted jungle canopies. Scavengers who locate these wreckage sites may recover the shroud from the resulting crystal. However, the electrum slips often require “Re-Indexing” to the new owner’s wing-structure before the magical spreadsheet functions will activate.
  • The Ritual of Three Truths: An avatar may obtain the item by bringing the three constituent Tier 1 components to a Master Wing-Smith who is also a consecrated Coptic monk. The avatar must participate in a twelve-hour “Convergence Cycle” where they meditate on the balance of math, light, and nature.

In the sellers’ market of Saṃsāra, the cost of Tier 3 items is measured in Platinum, though high-end Silver transactions are possible in less formal markets. The following establishments are the primary venues for the trade of the 7721 series.

Aeronautical Bureau Supply Vaults Located in the sterile, high-security upper levels of skyscraper spires, these vaults deal in “Bureau-Issue” relics that have been returned to the state after an auditor’s retirement or passing.

  • The Transaction: The process is strictly official. The buyer must undergo a “Wing-Load Audit” and a “Moral Temperature Scan” to ensure they will not use the shroud for illicit “off-book” activities. The transaction is recorded on enchanted parchment that binds the item to the buyer’s financial signature.
  • The Cost: 400 to 500 Platinum. The price is stabilized by the Bureau’s regulations but remains high due to the guaranteed “Audit-Ready” calibration of the electrum vanes.

Monastic Sky-Sanctuaries These shops are built onto the cliffs of aerial islands, featuring open-air perches and wind-chimes made of resonant silver. They are run by monks who view the shroud as a tool for spreading “Radiant Logistics” and peace.

  • The Transaction: The buyer is treated as a pilgrim. They must share a Luminous Salad with the head monk and recite a Coptic prayer of unity. The monks often check the buyer’s “Financial Temperature” using a master ledger to ensure the person is not seeking the item for greedy exploitation.
  • The Cost: 350 to 450 Platinum. While the coin cost is lower, the monks often demand a “Spiritual Surcharge,” such as a vow to mediate three specific trade disputes or a donation of rare Zephyrblade Beetle wings to the monastery’s gardens.

Elite Wing-Smithies (High-Wind Districts) These are upscale, industrial workshops found near the docking bays of the wealthiest floating cities. They cater to private merchant-kings and high-tier mercenary envoys.

  • The Transaction: This is a purely commercial exchange. The smith performs a “Dive-Test” with the buyer to ensure the electrum slips whistle at the correct “Fiscal Frequency.” Negotiation is common, and the smith may accept high-tier barter, such as rare solar resins or ancient ledger scrolls.
  • The Cost: 500 to 650 Platinum. The price reflects the artisan’s profit margin and the custom “filigree” work often added to the silver vine-work of the neck-pendant.

Twilight Bazaars (Seasonal Night Markets) These markets appear only during solstices or eclipses in the central squares of major islands. They are illuminated by radiant lanterns and scented with smoldering incense.

  • The Transaction: The item is often the centerpiece of a “Riddle-Auction” or a “Contest of Wit” overseen by trickster spirits. The buyer must outbid rivals not just in coin, but in their ability to interpret the shifting golden runes on the shroud’s vanes.
  • The Cost: 600 to 800 Platinum. Prices surge during these events due to the competitive nature of the solstice bidders and the perceived “prestige” of owning a shroud attuned during a celestial alignment.

Underground Curiosity Vaults Found in the “Low-Tiers” or within the dark cave systems where rogue traders operate. These dealers sell items that have “fallen off the ledger” or were recovered from disgraced auditors.

  • The Transaction: Quick and quiet. The buyer must use their Mind’s Eye to ensure the “Thermal Auditing” passives haven’t been corrupted by shadow-magic. There is no guarantee of quality, and “Buyer Beware” is the absolute rule.
  • The Cost: 300 to 400 Platinum. This is the lowest financial cost, but the item may require an additional 150 Platinum in “cleansing” rituals if it was recovered from an auditor who died in a state of high debt or moral collapse.

Tactical Roleplay and Environmental Application of the Vane-Script Solstice Shroud 7721

High-Altitude Spires and Aerial Trade Routes

  • Defense: While flying through the volatile mana-storms that surge between the 73 islands, the wearer relies on the Aerodynamic Solstice passive. You roleplay your electrum-clad feathers twitching with mechanical precision, automatically calculating wind-shear and pressure-differentials. When a lightning-ghost or a sky-predator strikes from the clouds, you trigger the Burst of Vexing Shorthand. You roleplay a violent, snapping flare of your wings that sheds a localized explosion of iridescent ink-smoke. To the attacker, the air is suddenly filled with a swirling, disorienting mess of glowing ledger-data and pungent iron-gall scent, allowing you to slip into a higher thermal with a +3 AC bonus.
  • Offense: When intercepting a suspected smuggler’s zeppelin, you use the Spreadsheet of Truth. You roleplay flaring your wings wide, projecting a massive golden holographic grid across the deck of the target ship. Every sailor’s health, mana, and moral alignment are displayed in neat vertical ledgers for your allies to see. If the captain attempts to lie about their cargo, the golden runes on your wings flare a warning red and emit a sharp, discordant “Audit-Tone.” You use this psychological and data-driven dominance to force a peaceful surrender, citing the exact trade tariffs they have violated with absolute authority.

Corporate Boardrooms and Diplomatic Summits

  • Defense: In the high-stakes environments of the megacity skyscrapers, you utilize the The Audited Soul passive to remain anchored. If a rival diplomat attempts to use a charm spell or a fear-inducing artifact to sway the negotiation, you roleplay the electrum slips on your wings growing heavy and grounded, their collective data-weight pinning your mind to the cold reality of the ledger. You remain entirely immune to their emotional manipulation, your internal “Financial Temperature” turning icy-cold as you detect their deceitful intent through the shivering of your feathers.
  • Offense: To break a deadlock in a tense treaty negotiation, you deploy the Radiant Logistics Bond. You roleplay a 10-minute ritual where you lead the delegates in a shared chant of unity, the emerald-green light from your sunstone pendant weaving a shimmering thread between all participants. This bond forces a temporary state of “Amicable Authority,” where all parties feel a profound sense of cooperation and a shared understanding of the logistical benefits of peace. You dismantle their arguments not with threats, but by showing them the mathematically perfect path to mutual prosperity projected from your wings.

Industrial Slums and Lower-Tier Waste-Vents

  • Defense: In the smog-choked, narrow alleys of the lower cities where desperate gangs lurk, you rely on the Thermal Prosperity Sense. You roleplay your iridescent slate-grey feathers vibrating with a rhythmic, warning thrum as you sense the “Financial Chill” of an impending ambush. When the attackers emerge from the shadows, you activate the Solstice Flare. You roleplay a blinding eruption of emerald-gold light from your chest-pendant that dispels the thick smog and magical darkness. Shadow-aligned thugs are instantly stunned by the divine radiance, their eyes burning with the “Truth of the Sun” while you walk past them, untouched.
  • Offense: When tracking a high-value asset hidden in the filth of a scrap-heap, you use the Logistical Trajectory to “audit the environment.” You roleplay your wings twitching as they scan the piles of waste, the electrum slips clicking rapidly as they identify the most “cost-effective” path to the target. You dive with your wings tucked, becoming a “Radiant Spear” that strikes precisely where the most valuable scrap or hidden individual is located. You use the Spreadsheet of Truth to reveal the exact physical condition of your target, ensuring they cannot feign injury or hide their identity behind a mask of poverty.

Sacred Forests and Ancient Monastic Ruins

  • Defense: Within the overgrown jungle canopies where Zephyrblade Beetles dwell, your shroud is in its natural element. You roleplay the emerald-green bioluminescence of your pendant harmonizing with the forest’s glow, granting you and your allies the Aura of Amicable Authority. If a corrupted forest guardian or an ancient spirit of despair approaches, the Harmony-Tuned nature of your wings acts as a protective barrier. You roleplay the scent of sunflowers and lavender intensifying, calming the spirits and preventing them from manifesting their hostile intent through the sheer, resonant peace of your presence.
  • Offense: When seeking an ancient relic hidden within a ruined shrine, you utilize the Spark of Foresight. You roleplay inhaling the sharp, aromatic pulse of the Whisperbloom Essenceleaf, which triggers a sudden, vivid vision of the temple’s original floor-plan. The golden runes on your wings glow as they project a holographic path leading you through the crumbling traps and hidden doors. You use this fate-aligned knowledge to navigate the ruins with mathematical certainty, turning a dangerous dungeon-crawl into a calculated, efficient retrieval of the “Unwritten Path.”

Perception of Activation:

User’s Perspective

  • Sight: The transition is instantaneous and analytical. The world is overlaid with a translucent, golden holographic grid. Air currents and mana-thermals become visible as flowing ribbons of emerald light. Every person within sixty feet is accompanied by a scrolling vertical ledger in the peripheral vision, displaying their current physical health, internal energy reserves, and a color-coded “Truth-Status” indicator that flickers from gold to a sharp, bleeding red if they speak a falsehood.
  • Sound: Ambient noise is dampened and replaced by the rhythmic, high-speed clicking of the electrum vanes, sounding like a thousand turning ledger pages or a mechanical typewriter. When the item detects a lie or an illusion, a sharp, resonant “Audit-Tone” rings in the wearer’s ears—a discordant frequency that vibrates the jawbone.
  • Touch: A surge of profound, solar warmth radiates from the neck-pendant through the chest and out to the tips of the wings. The feathers become noticeably more rigid and aerodynamic. The wearer feels a “Data-Weight” on their wings, a physical pressure that represents the information being recorded in real-time.
  • Smell: A sharp, refreshing scent of iron-gall ink, blooming sunflowers, and Zephyrblade Beetle wings fills the sinuses. This aroma acts as a mental stimulant, clearing fog and sharpening the user’s focus.
  • Taste: A subtle, bittersweet tang of citrus and honey lingers on the back of the tongue, providing a quick sensory confirmation that the solar and culinary magics are fully integrated and active.
  • Extra-Sensory Perceptions:
    • Fiscal Temperature: The wearer “feels” the relative prosperity and moral alignment of the room; honest and wealthy areas hum with a golden warmth, while areas of high debt or deceit feel like a cold, hollow vacuum against the feathers.
    • Aeronautical Calculus: A subconscious awareness of every air molecule allows the wearer to predict gusts and turbulence before they hit, making flight feel like navigating a perfectly solved equation.
    • The Auditor’s Intuition: A sudden, overwhelming sense of “Imbalance” alerts the wearer to any signed contracts, light shipments, or fraudulent activities occurring within the immediate vicinity.

Observer’s Perspective

  • Sight: The avatar is suddenly wreathed in a brilliant, emerald-gold halo. Their wings flare wide, and the electrum slips shimmer with shifting solar runes. A shimmering golden grid projects outward from the feathers, illuminating the environment and making the avatar appear as an immovable beacon of authority.
  • Sound: Onlookers hear a soft, melodic humming of Coptic prayers accompanied by the rapid, metallic clicking of the wings. The “Audit-Tone” is audible to others as a jarring, authoritative sound that causes a natural loss of composure in those attempting to be deceitful.
  • Touch: Those within twenty feet feel a sudden, pleasant warmth and a prickling of static electricity in the air. The atmosphere becomes heavy with a sense of order and peace, making it difficult to maintain a gripped weapon or a hostile stance.
  • Smell: A comforting wave of baked bread, lavender, and smoldering incense drifts from the wearer, which subconsciously encourages trust and reduces the impulse for violence.
  • Extra-Sensory Perceptions:
    • Aura of De-escalation: Hostile observers feel their combat adrenaline drain away, replaced by a lethargic, peaceful compliance and a sudden, involuntary respect for the wearer’s “moral temperature.”

Positives

  • Total Transparency: Absolute detection of lies, illusions, and hidden hostile intent within the immediate radius.
  • Logistical Supremacy: Flawless navigation through mana-storms or magical darkness with perfect awareness of ally and enemy status.
  • Combat Pacification: Efficiently dismantles enemy coordination and morale without the need for lethal force.
  • Data Retrieval: Permanent, radiant recording of every transaction and oath witnessed for future verification.

Negatives

  • Intimidation Failure: The overwhelming aura of amicability makes it fundamentally impossible to scare or coerce others through threats of violence.
  • Compulsive Honesty: The wearer finds it significantly more difficult to deceive others, as their own wings may flare with warning red runes if they speak a falsehood.
  • Actuarial Vertigo: Prolonged use can cause the user to view the world purely as data and resource drains, leading to a profound emotional detachment from their companions.
  • Conspicuous Presence: The blinding light, holographic grid, and aromatic pulse make stealth entirely impossible while the item is active.

Crafting Recipe: Synthesis of the Vane-Script Solstice Shroud 7721

Items Merged

Additional Materials Needed

  • One vial of Solar Resin to bind the sunstone shard and the parchment ofuda to the electrum-indexed vanes.
  • Three extra Zephyrblade Beetle wings to reinforce the bioluminescent emerald-glow of the central pendant.
  • A spool of Silver Filigree Wire to weave the Coptic motifs into the existing electrum feather-slips.
  • One bottle of High-Altitude Alchemical Ink (distilled from raven feathers and lead-light crystal) for re-indexing the shorthand runes.

Tools Required

  • Solar Prism Forge: A specialized forge that channels focused, high-altitude sunlight to temper the electrum and silver without melting the delicate parchment.
  • Micro-Precision Stylus: A diamond-tipped tool used to engrave the combined logistical and trickster runes into the metal foil.
  • Feather-Press: A weighted, curved clamp used to bond the bio-mechanical shroud to the avatar’s natural wings.
  • Spirit-Binding Chime: A ceremonial instrument used to synchronize the trickster spirits with the administrative aeronautical data-streams.
  • Runic Calligraphy Set: For the precise application of the solar-infused ink onto the sun-blessed parchment of the ofuda.

Skill Requirements

  • Master of Artifice (Fine-Metalwork)
  • Expert of Aeronautical Calculus
  • Proficient in Ritual Magic (Coptic and Trickster Traditions)
  • Advanced Culinary Enchantment (Insect-based Alchemicals)

Crafting Steps

  • The Consumption of Vitality: The crafting avatar must first consume a freshly prepared Luminous Salad. This is not for nutrition, but to saturate their biological aura with the Zephyrblade Beetle’s bioluminescent green resonance. This internal glow acts as the primary alchemical catalyst for the merger, ensuring the biological wings can host the high-tier mechanical and divine attachments.
  • Tempering the Solar Core: Place the Radiant Ofuda 417 within the Solar Prism Forge. Using the Silver Filigree Wire and Solar Resin, affix the sunstone shard to a new vine-worked silver frame. As the gemstone begins to pulse with emerald-green light (reacting to the crafter’s beetle-infused aura), carefully dissolve the original ofuda parchment until the golden runes remain suspended in the resin, then re-apply them to a fresh sheet of sun-blessed parchment.
  • Aerodynamic Alignment: Secure the Feathers 914 onto the Aerodynamic Tuning Stand. Use the Micro-Precision Stylus to expand the existing logistical shorthand to include the “Solstice Tongue” runes. These new etchings must be positioned to catch the wind in a way that generates the specific “Audit-Tone” frequency during flight.
  • The Fusion of the Vanes: Coat the underside of the newly prepared Radiant Ofuda with the Zephyrblade-infused resin. Using the Feather-Press, bond the trailing parchment directly into the electrum vanes of the 914 series. The parchment must physically intertwine with the primary feathers, creating a singular, unified surface for the golden holographic grid to project from.
  • Synchronizing the Ledger: While the resin is still warm, ring the Spirit-Binding Chime in a steady, twelve-beat cadence. The crafter must recite a mixture of Coptic prayers and bureaucratic trade-shorthand to bridge the gap between divine truth and cold fiscal math. If the electrum slips begin to click in rhythm with the chimes and the emerald light spreads across the wings, the attunement is holding.
  • Final High-Noon Calibration: Take the assembled shroud to an open-air docking bay at exactly midday. Flare the wings to activate the Spreadsheet of Truth. Adjust the silver filigree and re-ink any fading runes until the golden holographic grid remains stable despite high-velocity wind-currents. Once the “Fiscal Temperature” sense begins to vibrate in the wearer’s wings, the Tier 3 Vane-Script Solstice Shroud 7721 is considered physically and magically unified.

Wing-Loom of Truth-Counting-Sun

In the time of the before-hollow, when the air was yet thick like the soup of the marsh-beast and the mountains did not have the heavy-feet to stay on the ground, there was a great sky-man with the name [Untranslatable: He-Who-Numbers-the-Clouds-and-Finds-the-Missing-Pennies]. This sky-man was a watcher of the high-places, but his wings were heavy with the ice of the cold-math [logic] and his heart was dry like the desert-ledger. He flew between the floating-rocks, but he did not see the colors; he only saw the numbers of the trade-sticks and the taxes of the wind.

The sky-man did cry out to the Great Blue-Hollow: “I am weary of the counting that has no light. I have the electrum-feathers that remember the price of the grain, but they do not know the song of the sun. I have the wing-slips of the bureau-men, but they are cold, and they make me forget the warmth of the nest.”

First, the sky-man did descend to the deep-green-wet-place [rainforest]. He did seek the crawling-light-bugs with the wings of the zephyr-sword [Zephyrblade Beetles]. He did speak to the beetle-folk with the quiet-mouth: “Give me your green-glow so I may see the life inside the math.” The beetle-folk did allow him to take the glowing-leaves of the Luminous Salad. He did eat the salad of the emerald-fire. The story-scratches say his skin began to shine like the moss under the moon. His blood became the green-ink of the forest, and his wings felt the first pulse of the living-growing-magic.

Second, the sky-man did fly to the stone-house of the laughing-monks [trickster monks]. These are the ones who write the words that itch and the prayers that burn the liars. He found the Amulet of the Solstice-Tongue. The monks were hitting the bronze with the hammers of mischief. They said to the sky-man: “You have the cold-feathers of the auditor, but you need the hot-paper of the truth. This parchment will make your wings speak the divine-shorthand, and it will make the pompous-ones trip over their own lying-tongues.” They took the Coptic-cross of the bronze and the sun-stone of the golden-shimmer and they did bind them to the sky-man’s throat.

Third, the sky-man did go to the High-Noon-Forge where the sun is used as a heavy-hammer. He took his electrum-feathers [914 series] and he laid them on the anvil of the sky. He took the beetle-glow that was in his blood and the itching-paper of the monks. He began to do the great-stitching [synthesis]. He sewed the parchment directly into the metal-slips of his wings. He used the silver-wires to tie the math to the light. The four-hundred-and-seventeen marks of the solar-irritation were mixed with the nine-hundred-and-fourteen marks of the trade-ledger.

The ancient scratches say the pain was like the biting of a thousand tiny fire-ants, but the sky-man did not stop the wing-weaving. The electrum and the paper and the beetle-essence did melt into exactly one single physical object. It was no longer three things. It was the Vane-Script Solstice Shroud.

When he did flare his wings, the air did not just whistle; it did click like the counting-stones. A great grid of the golden-hologram did jump out of his feathers. It showed the health-marks of the trees and the mana-marks of the birds. It showed the “Moral-Temperature” of the clouds. If a man below did tell a lie about the weight of his wool, the sky-man’s wings did flare the red-fire and make the loud-noise of the [Broken-Trumpet-of-Justice].

The lengthy-tale tells of the Great Trade-War of the Seventy-Three Rocks. The merchant-kings were hitting each other with the steam-cannons and the greed-spells. They were hiding the grain and telling the false-prices to make the poor-folk hungry. The sky-man did fly over the war-smoke. He did activate the Solstice Flare. The emerald-gold light did hit the eyes of the kings. It burned away their shadow-masks.

The kings did try to speak the lies of the “Fair-Price,” but the sky-man’s wings did project the Spreadsheet of Truth upon the very clouds. Every hidden bag of gold and every secret contract was shown in the golden-ledger-light for all the mud-folk to see. The kings were so embarrassed by the truth and so itchy from the vexing-shorthand that they did drop their gold and cry for the mercy of the sun. The sky-man did not use a sword; he used the math-of-the-light to make the war stop.

The sky-man did never take off the shroud. It became his skin. He flew forever in the high-thermals, his wings clicking the eternal-audit of the stars. He knew the cost of every breath and the truth of every heart, and his stomach never again felt the cold-chill of the debt-vacuum.

Moral of the Story: He who counts only the coin in the dark remains a slave to the math, but he who weaves the sun into his ledger shall find that the only true profit is the light that reveals the honest path.
