Kitsune 743 of the Nine Tailed Binding

Lore

During the Wilderness Conquest, a clever fox-kin artisan named Hakuro operated a modest workshop in the coastal libraries of the island nation of Jōmon. Hakuro was fascinated by the fleeting nature of paper documents, which easily rotted under humid maritime air or burned during chaotic arcane skirmishes. Drawing upon the ancestral fox-spirit trickery and illusions of his bloodline, Hakuro bound the spirit of a minor fox-spirit into his favorite set of bone-handled bookbinding tools. The spirit, fond of subtle pranks and preserving forgotten tales, agreed to inhabit the bone handles in exchange for being allowed to read every manuscript stitched together by the workshop. Over decades, duplicates of this enchanted binding set were crafted by artisan guilds across the 73 island nations, serving traveling scholars, archivists, and crafty bookbinders who value both durable craftsmanship and a touch of sly misdirection.

Description

Kitsune 743 of the Nine-Tailed Binding consists of a refined bone-handled awl, a polished ivory paper folder, and a spool of shimmering orange silk thread wrapped around a spindle carved to resemble a sleeping coiled fox. When held near freshly cut parchment, the bone handle warms to the touch and releases a subtle scent of cherry blossoms and ozone. Tiny illusory fox paws occasionally dance across the spine of any tome bound using these tools, leaving faint glowing tracks that vanish upon close inspection. The silk thread glides through thick leather and vellum with zero resistance, leaving behind invisible seams that only reveal themselves under ultraviolet illumination or True Sight.

Multiple Activable Magics

  • Fox-Fire Script (Silent Casting): The avatar focuses on the bone awl to cast glowing, illusory fox-fire characters onto any surface or within an existing manuscript. The script can be read by chosen allies but appears as gibberish or harmless ink stains to hostile onlookers. This ability lasts for 1 hour per activation and deals no damage.
  • Shape-Shifter’s Cover (Somatic Casting): By snapping the silk thread and reciting a short verse of trickery taking less than six seconds, the avatar can disguise a bound book or paper document to look like a completely different object of similar size, such as a brick, a box of rations, or a plain slab of wood. The illusion lasts for 12 hours or until touched by an individual actively concentrating with True Sight.
  • Illusionary Page Swap (Ritual Casting): Through a ten-minute ritual of stitching a temporary thread through a tome, the avatar switches the visual content of two written pages within a document. Anyone reading the modified page sees convincing false text unless they possess specialized identification skills or uncover the true nature of the illusion.

Acquisition and Commerce of Kitsune 743 of the Nine-Tailed Binding

The commerce of specialized items on Saṃsāra operates strictly within a decentralized seller’s market driven by regional access, local crafting traditions, and local availability. Because there is no fixed price per item or rigid baseline economy, values fluctuate dramatically depending on the island nation, the merchant’s affiliation, and the buyer’s negotiation leverage.

Types of Shops and Acquisition Locations

  • Family-Owned Bookbinder and Scriptorium Shops
    • Where to Find: Located primarily in the artisan districts of major state coastal cities or central capital cities, particularly within cultural hubs like Jōmon, Banpo, or Yamato-inspired provinces. These small mom-and-pop workshops are operated by lineage crafters who specialize in paper-making, manuscript restoration, and arcane bookbinding.
    • How It Is Bought: Crafters usually keep these tools for internal guild use or sell them directly to visiting scholars, archivists, and traveling mages. Buyers must approach the shopkeeper in person, as no institutional stores or global catalogs exist.
    • Cost: In a standard family shop where fox-spirit crafting is understood, the item is typically offered at a suggested baseline price ranging between 120 Silver and 180 Silver (or 12 to 18 Gold). If the buyer is a registered member of the local Crafters Guild or the specific Artisan Faction running the workshop, they receive a 10% discount based on their character’s tier level (a Tier 1 character receives a 10% discount off the negotiated value).
  • Curio and Antiquities Dealers
    • Where to Find: Nestled in the crowded alleyways of island capital cities near central transportation hubs like Zeppelin docks or Hot Air Balloon pavilions.
    • How It Is Bought: These small, family-run curio shops acquire items from retired adventurers or estate liquidations. The shopkeeper may not fully understand the specialized Kitsune lore attached to the tools, selling them simply as high-quality imported tailoring or binding implements.
    • Cost: Prices in curio shops depend heavily on how well the merchant understands the item’s true nature. If unappreciated, it may be purchased for as little as 80 Silver to 100 Silver (8 to 10 Gold). If advertised as an authentic enchanted relic of Jōmon, the merchant will demand between 250 Silver and 350 Silver (25 to 35 Gold).
  • Black-Market Exchanges and Shadow Guild Denizens
    • Where to Find: Operating out of hidden back rooms in harbor taverns, subterranean metropolises, or unpatrolled alleyways outside city gates away from royal guard oversight.
    • How It Is Bought and Sold: Black-market traders deal in stolen goods or items discreetly acquired without official record keeping. Transactions are conducted strictly in physical metal coinage (typically Gold or Silver) rather than transfers through the World Bank. The sellers keep no logs of transactions, ensuring complete anonymity.
    • Cost: When buying from the black market, goods are always sold at full market value or higher, usually ranging from 300 Silver to 500 Silver (30 to 50 Gold) if the trickery aspects of the item are in high demand for forging documents. When a player character sells this item to a black-market fence, the fence will pay standard merchant rates (around 50% to 60% of item value) or up to twice what a normal merchant pays (up to 200 Silver to 300 Silver) if they have an urgent client seeking document-altering tools.
  • World Bank Account Redemption (Indirect Acquisition)
    • Where to Find: World Bank branches maintained by the god of commerce in major cities across the 73 island nations.
    • How It Is Bought: The World Bank itself does not hold inventories of general adventuring gear or run auctions. However, characters who open a new account receive 100 Gold as a starting deposit along with a choice of a specific self-recharging utility item (Blender, Clock, or Toaster). If a character wishes to use World Bank funds to purchase the binding tools from a local merchant, they must withdraw physical coinage at the bank counter (incurring a 1% transaction fee rounded up to the nearest copper) or perform a direct account-to-account transfer if the merchant holds an active account.

Selling the Item to NPC Merchants

When an avatar attempts to sell Kitsune 743 of the Nine-Tailed Binding to a legitimate NPC merchant, the merchant will haggle down the price. Standard merchant purchasing rules apply:

  • Merchant Purchase Price: The merchant will haggle around 10% of the item’s perceived value multiplied by the tier level of the selling character (for a Tier 1 character, this results in a 10% reduction from the baseline offer). A merchant will typically offer between 50 Silver and 90 Silver (5 to 9 Gold) for the set.
  • World Bank Deposit: Upon completion of a sale to a legitimate merchant, the proceeds are automatically deposited directly into the character’s World Bank account, visible only through their Mind’s Eye.
  • Merchant Logs: Merchants maintain quasi-official ledgers recording purchases and seller identities, meaning municipal guards or royal investigators may question the seller later regarding the origin of the item.

Tactical Roleplay Applications: Environmental Offense and Defense

The application of Kitsune 743 of the Nine-Tailed Binding extends far beyond simple workshop repairs. In the high-magic, high-risk environments of Saṃsāra, a skilled bookbinder utilizes the bone awl, silk thread, and illusory scripts to turn ordinary paper into defensive shields or subtle offensive traps.

Coastal Seaports and Maritime Vessels

In humid harbor cities, salt-encrusted docks, and on the decks of naval airships or ocean-going frigates, moisture and wind pose constant threats to administrative control and tactical communications.

  • Defensive Roleplay: While sailing through choppy waters, an avatar can use the item’s passive Fox-Gilded Stitching to bind ship logs, navigation charts, and spell manifests. During an enemy boarding action, the bookbinder uses Shape-Shifter’s Cover to disguise the captain’s critical ledger containing troop deployments as a wet, discarded block of rigging pine. Guards or invading privateers raiding the cabin glance past the ledger, failing to recognize its value. Additionally, the avatar uses the bone awl as a focus to trace Fox-Fire Script across the ship’s wooden railing, creating glowing ultraviolet guiding paths that allow friendly crew members with True Sight to navigate pitch-black decks during a night storm without revealing their location to enemy ships.
  • Offensive Roleplay: When infiltrating an enemy merchant vessel docked in port, the avatar uses Illusionary Page Swap during a ten-minute ritual inside the captain’s quarters. They alter the vessel’s cargo manifest, swapping the actual destination page with a false page detailing contraband cargo. When local port authorities inspect the ship at the next state border, the forged document triggers immediate confiscation of the vessel by municipal guards. In direct combat on the docks, the avatar whips out the shimmering orange silk thread, anchoring it between two crates; using silent casting, they illuminate the thread with brief fox-fire to distract an incoming foe, causing them to hesitate and misstep into a range penalty.

Dense Urban Metropolises and Industrial Steam Hubs

In sprawling central cities, steam-powered industrial districts, and floating skyward towers, information is currency, and political intrigue between royal courts, guild masters, and state mayors is constant.

  • Defensive Roleplay: Navigating packed market streets or crowded guildhalls, the avatar uses the passive Weightless Folio effect to carry heavy, iron-bound guild archives or secret royal ledgers in hand without incurring physical fatigue or movement penalties. If confronted by corrupt city guards wielding a Banishment Mark, the avatar quickly casts Shape-Shifter’s Cover, making an incriminating ledger appear as a plain box of iron gear-grease. To protect key party intelligence, the bookbinder uses Fox-Fire Script to write secret messages across public notice boards; only party allies utilizing True Sight or passive Mind’s Eye checks can decipher the glowing fox-fire instructions regarding safehouse locations.
  • Offensive Roleplay: During a formal banquet in a city palace, the bookbinder targets an adversary’s political reputation. Using Illusionary Page Swap, the avatar alters the contents of a speech or contract held by an opposing diplomat or rival guild master. When the rival attempts to read the contract before the royal court, the illusory text reveals fabricated admissions of bribery or tax evasion, causing severe political fallout. In an urban alleyway skirmish, the avatar uses the bone awl as an attuned held weapon to target a foe’s worn bag, applying quick punctures to sever strap stitching while using silent illusory flashes to daze the attacker momentarily.

Untamed Wilderness and Ancient Ruins

Out in the wild frontiers, overgrown jungles, and cavernous ruins left behind from the Wilderness Conquest era, environmental hazards and hostile feral beasts dominate the landscape.

  • Defensive Roleplay: When making camp in a dark, monster-infested forest, the bookbinder stitches enchanted silk thread around the perimeter of the campsite between surrounding trees. Using Fox-Fire Script, they write defensive warding symbols onto the bark. While these symbols do no direct damage, they emit a faint ultraviolet aura visible via True Sight, serving as a boundary line. If a feral beast or enemy patrol crosses the thread, the subtle disruption alerts the party’s sentries immediately. Additionally, important field journals containing maps of monster nests are kept permanently dry and rot-free using the tool’s passive preservation magic.
  • Offensive Roleplay: When encountering intelligent foes or rival adventuring parties near ancient ruin vaults, the bookbinder uses Shape-Shifter’s Cover on a worthless, heavy stone tablet, making it appear as a rare, glowing Tier 2 spellbook or valuable historic relic. The avatar leaves the disguised item in plain sight in a doorway or narrow passage. As the enemy party stops to inspect and claim the “rare find,” they waste valuable actions during combat or fall into a pre-laid ambush set by the avatar’s allies.

Subterranean Cave Systems and Deep Vaults

Deep below the surface in dark cavern cities, underground mining complexes, and sealed storage crypts, natural light is non-existent, and echo-location or darkvision is heavily relied upon by native dwellers.

  • Defensive Roleplay: In absolute darkness, where standard vision fails, the avatar relies on the glowing properties of Fox-Fire Script to mark safe paths, structural weaknesses in mine shafts, or hidden escape routes through tunnel networks. Because the script emits light primarily in the ultraviolet spectrum, it provides clear guidance for individuals with True Sight while remaining invisible to subterranean creatures relying solely on standard Darkvision or echo-location Tremorsense. The avatar can also stitch together thick leather map cases that shield delicate parchment from corrosive underground dampness or dripping acidic slime.
  • Offensive Roleplay: When battling underground hostiles inside narrow tunnels, the avatar uses Shape-Shifter’s Cover to disguise a dangerous pitfall trap or a volatile explosive device (such as an unexploded arcane battery or armed potion container) as a smooth, solid stone floor or a lost supply chest. Hostile creatures or invading guards stepping onto the disguised surface fall through into the hazard below. If targeted directly by a foe, the avatar uses the bone awl in a quick defensive flourish, using the item’s Aegis Cover bonus to deflect incoming blows before retreating into the shadows of the subterranean vault.

Perception of Activation:

  • Sight
    • User’s Perspective: Upon activating the item, the user sees a soft, ethereal fox-fire radiance emanate from the bone handle of the awl and the polished ivory paper folder. Faint violet and soft orange runes pulse slowly along the bone surface, aligning with the motion of the user’s hands. The shimmering silk thread glows with a faint violet edge that leaves visible ultraviolet tracks across parchment, leather, or nearby surfaces as it moves.
    • Observer’s Perspective: An observer sees the bookbinding tools flicker briefly with a subtle, soft illumination. Small, ghostly fox-paw outlines seem to briefly appear and vanish along the leather cover or paper being bound. The orange silk thread reflects light with an unusual, iridescent sheen that seems slightly brighter than normal ambient light.
    • Positives: Provides clear illumination over the immediate work surface in pitch-black conditions without casting bright, distracting glares.
    • Negatives: The glowing runes and fox-fire luminescence can inadvertently draw attention from nearby hostile observers in dark environments if not shielded.
  • Hearing
    • User’s Perspective: The user hears a faint, rhythmic sound resembling soft wind rustling through dry autumn leaves, accompanied by the barely audible, cheerful yip of a distant fox spirit hovering at the edge of perception. As the silk thread passes through material, it produces a silky, whisper-like murmur rather than the harsh friction sound of standard thread.
    • Observer’s Perspective: An observer close to the user hears a gentle, soft rustling sound, akin to paper pages being turned softly in a quiet library, even if no pages are actively moving.
    • Positives: Masking the harsh noise of heavy awl punctures and leather stitching allows the user to repair or alter documents discreetly.
    • Negatives: The subtle, spirit-like whisper sound can sound unsettling or eerie to allies who are unaccustomed to fox-spirit illusions.
  • Touch
    • User’s Perspective: The cold bone awl and ivory folder rapidly warm to a comfortable, soothing heat, feeling like smooth river stones warmed by the sun. The silk thread feels entirely frictionless, sliding effortlessly through fingertips and thick vellum without causing thread burns or resistance.
    • Observer’s Perspective: If an observer touches the user’s hand or the tools during activation, they feel a sudden, static prickle across their skin, followed by a pleasant warmth radiating from the instrument handles.
    • Positives: Eliminates physical hand strain, blisters, and friction resistance during long sessions of stitching heavy materials or tough leather hides.
    • Negatives: The lack of tactile resistance can make it difficult for an artisan to judge the physical tension of the stitch by weight alone without relying on sight.
  • Smell
    • User’s Perspective: The user experiences a sharp, sudden scent of crisp mountain air, blooming cherry blossoms, and a faint hint of ozone, completely masking any surrounding odors of old dust, rot, or leather tanning chemicals.
    • Observer’s Perspective: Observers within a few feet detect a subtle, pleasant aroma of sweet woodsmoke and fresh blossoms wafting from the bookbinder’s workspace.
    • Positives: Clears the air of foul odors, damp mold smells, or harsh chemical fumes in subterranean crypts or damp workshops.
    • Negatives: The distinct floral and woodsmoke scent can alert tracker creatures or hounds with keen olfactory senses to the user’s presence.
  • Taste
    • User’s Perspective: A faint, sweet taste reminiscent of rice wine and wild berries coats the back of the user’s throat upon the initial activation chant or focus.
    • Observer’s Perspective: Observers experience no direct taste sensation, though those standing extremely close might notice a faint sweetness in the air if they inhale deeply.
    • Positives: Provides a refreshing, grounding sensation that clears stale tastes from the mouth during intense concentration.
    • Negatives: The sudden taste sensation can briefly distract a user who is attempting to chant or speak while executing fine physical movements.
  • Extra-Sensory Perceptions
    • Mind’s Eye Perception:
      • User’s Perspective: Through the Mind’s Eye, the user perceives the intrinsic stats of the parchment or book being worked on unfolding like a visual matrix. Hidden inks, erased scripts, structural weaknesses in paper fibers, and false magical facades pop out in high clarity as structured data overlaying the physical item.
      • Observer’s Perspective: Individuals viewing the user through their own active Mind’s Eye see a steady, orderly stream of minor arcane information flowing smoothly between the avatar’s consciousness and the tool set.
      • Positives: Allows instant identification of forged text, secret ink, and structural flaws within any manuscript.
      • Negatives: Prolonged exposure to dense streams of textual information can cause mild mental fatigue or temporary sensory overload if used continuously without pause.
    • True Sight Perception:
      • User’s Perspective: With True Sight active, the user sees bright, vibrant ultraviolet threads extending from the coiled fox spindle, wrapping securely around the aura of the document to bind its physical and magical properties into harmony.
      • Observer’s Perspective: An observer using True Sight beholds a brilliant, glowing fox-spirit silhouette draped over the user’s shoulders, its ghostly tail brushing across the work surface as the stitches are laid down.
      • Positives: Reveals exact magical seams, hidden illusory overlays, and the active integrity of enchanted bindings.
      • Negatives: The vivid ultraviolet glow is glaringly obvious to any foe or municipal guard utilizing True Sight vision, completely negating stealth against divine or high-magic observers.
    • Soul Sight Perception:
      • User’s Perspective: The user feels the gentle, mischievous pulse of the minor fox-spirit residing within the bone handles, sensing its playful curiosity as it reads through the emotional echo of the written words being bound.
      • Observer’s Perspective: An observer with Soul Sight perceives a warm, flickering orange soul-spark nestled inside the bone tool, harmonizing with the user’s own spiritual aura without attempting to dominate or clash with the avatar’s vessel.
      • Positives: Establishes a harmonious spiritual link between the crafter and the tool, enhancing creative focus and artistic intuition.
      • Negatives: If the user experiences severe emotional distress or panic, the fox-spirit’s aura can become jittery, causing the illusory scripts to flicker erratically.

Tools Required

  • Fluid Collector: For extracting and transferring exact measures of tree sap and organic solvents without contamination.
  • Fine Carving & Engraving Tools: Steel chisels, fine needles, and delicate scribing knives for carving runes and fox-spirit motifs into bone, wood, and ivory.
  • Sanding & Polishing Materials: Fine grit pumice and silk cloths for polishing ivory and bone surfaces to a mirror finish.
  • Attunement Crucible or Small Heat Source: A small arcane burner or elemental fire box for heating solvents and fusing infused rune channels.

Skill Requirements

  • Crafting Skill Level: Minimum Skill Level 6 total in Bookbinding, Leatherworking, or Alchemical Toolcrafting (at least 5 base trained skill points plus character tier allowance).
  • Tier Level Requirement: Character must be at least Tier 1.
  • Language/Knowledge Requirement: Basic understanding of Jōmon artisan runic scripts and fox-spirit lore traditions.

Crafting Steps

  • Step 1: Preparation of the Physical Vessels
    • Carefully carve and sand the bone handle for the awl, shaping the end to hold a fine steel or bone puncture tip.
    • Polish the ivory slab until it forms a smooth, double-beveled paper folder with zero rough edges.
    • Carve the wooden spindle into the likeness of a sleeping, coiled fox, drilling a central axis hole for the spindle pin.
  • Step 2: Harvesting and Preparing the Arcane Catalyst
    • Using the Fluid Collector, measure precisely one dram of spirit tree sap and mix it with the alchemical binding solvent in a glass bowl over mild heat.
    • Crush the Tier 1 coin-sized Magic Crystal into fine powder and slowly stir it into the solvent mixture until the liquid turns a translucent purple.
    • Add the single drop of fox essence or blood into the solution to align the magical weave with Kitsune trickery traits.
  • Step 3: Etching and Inscribing the Runes
    • Using the engraving needles, scribe tiny fox-tail motifs and structural preservation runes into the bone handle of the awl and along the flat face of the ivory folder.
    • Paint the prepared purple crystal-and-sap catalyst into the freshly engraved runic channels.
    • Allow the liquid catalyst to dry and set within the grooves under direct sunlight or a faint ultraviolet light source.
  • Step 4: Imbuing the Silk Thread
    • Submerge the 50 yards of raw orange silk thread into the remaining warmed crystal solvent for two hours, allowing the silk fibers to fully absorb the magic-crystalline cells.
    • Remove the thread and spool it tightly onto the carved wooden fox spindle while chanting a short, rhythmic Somatic verse detailing preservation, light-footed trickery, and invisible seams.
  • Step 5: Final Assembly and Attunement Sealing
    • Insert the steel awl tip firmly into the prepared bone handle, securing it with melted sap resin.
    • Hold the completed awl, ivory folder, and thread spindle together in both hands for ten minutes to initiate a simple ritual alignment.
    • As the bone handles warm to the touch and release a subtle scent of cherry blossoms, the magic crystal catalyst locks into the structure, completing the creation of the tool set.

Nine-Tailed Thread-Weaver and Stone-Skin Manuscript

Listen now, O traveler of the wide waters, to the words which were converted from the ancient slate-markings of forgotten elders, translated through three decaying tongues of bad grammar and broken verbs.

In the time before the calendar held numbers, when the moon Saṃsāra was yet wet with the cooling elementals, there dwelt in the high hills of the isle of Jōmon a fox-spirit whose tails were nine, named Hakuro the Sly-Stitcher. This Hakuro possessed not gold nor iron, but a great hunger for the paper-words of mortals. In those grey days, the mortals wrote their history upon dried leaves and soft skins, but the rain-storms of the island made all memories into mud-slurry, and the red-hot fires of chaotic elementals turned whole libraries into ash-clouds within the twinkling of an eye.

It is recorded in the crooked syntax of the old scrolls that Hakuro sat upon a high rock, weeping tears of orange sparks, for he had read a great story of a ancient hero, but the bottom half of the page was eaten by a cave-slug. “Woe unto the soft paper,” cried Hakuro, his voice sounding like two dry river-stones grinding together. “The thoughts of men are sharp, but their paper-vessels are foolishly tender!”

So it was that Hakuro entered the deep bone-caverns where the wild elementals fought. He took from a fallen stone-beast a single sharp needle of white thigh-bone. He took from an ivory sea-beast a flat tooth, smooth as frozen milk. He did trap a minor trickster-spirit of his own fox-kin inside the bone handles by promising the spirit that it should taste the sweet ink of ten thousand written tales. Then, spinning thread from the golden silk of high-mountain spiders and dyeing it in the juice of magical blossoms, he created the First Binder.

With this tool-set held in his furry hands, Hakuro walked into the state-city of the Old King. The Old King was very sad, for his state-laws were written upon big clay bricks, and when his royal guards dropped the bricks, the laws broke into many little pieces, causing thieves to laugh and pay no taxes.

Hakuro spoke unto the Old King with many awkward words and improper nouns: “O King of great roundness, I shall bind thy kingdom’s memories into paper that cannot rot, nor burn, nor be understood by eyes that are wicked.”

The Old King made a loud noise of doubt, saying, “Paper is the skin of trees! Trees burn! Trees turn to soup in the sea!”

Then did Hakuro take the royal tax-ledger—a soggy bundle of rice-paper—and with his bone awl he did punch seven holes along its spine. Through the holes he pulled the glowing orange silk thread, chanting Somatic words of ancient misdirection while making hand flourishes of great confusion. The ivory folder he rubbed across the spine until the paper hummed like a angry bee.

When the ritual was finished, the Old King took the tax-ledger and threw it into a hot blacksmith furnace. But lo! The furnace fire did turn into harmless violet sparks, and the paper came forth cool, dry, and smelling of spring cherry blossoms! Then the Old King tried to drop the ledger into a barrel of ocean brine, but the water jumped away from the paper as if the ledger were made of hot oiled iron.

Yet the greatest trickery was yet to come. A wicked robber-chief, having snuck into the royal palace during the evening time when Helios was down, snatched the tax-ledger from the King’s table. But when the robber-chief opened the book to steal the names of rich citizens, his eyes saw only recipes for turnip soup and drawings of foolish dancing frogs! For the magic of the Kitsune binding had placed an illusion-cover over the true words, revealing the real tax-numbers only to the Old King, who possessed the Mind’s Eye and held the true name of the binder in his thoughts.

The robber-chief, believing he had stolen a useless cooking book, threw the manuscript into the gutter and fled empty-handed. The Old King retrieved his ledger unharmed, his gold was saved, and the town guards did capture the confused robber-chief at the city gate.

Thus was the first Nine-Tailed Binding born into the world. Though Hakuro eventually vanished into the sea-mists to seek new stories across the 73 islands, the bone tools remained, copied by crafters who learned to trap minor fox-spirits into bone handles so that human words might live longer than the hands that wrote them.

Moral of the Story

The strength of a nation lies not in the thickness of its stone walls nor the iron of its swords, but in the preservation of its truth; yet he who knows how to hide a great truth under a simple cover shall walk safely through a world of thieves.
