- Item Rank: Tier 1 (Common)
- Equip Slot: Neck Slot (Occupies exactly 1 gear slot)

Lore
- In the ancient records kept by early scribes across the island nation of Badarian, priests and artisans crafted brass and papyrus talismans inscribed with sacred Coptic dialects brought into Saṃsāra by early reincarnated souls. These amulets were designed to store righteous indignation, converting internal fury into tangible divine protection.
- The numerical designation “742” stems from the specific series of ritual incantations etched into the rear face of the brass plate by Coptic metallurgists working the steam-driven foundries in state workshops.
- It is believed that the original catalyst for Coptic 742 of Anger was forged using localized magic crystalline cells harvested from aggressive, high-temperature feral beasts, capturing the essence of pure irritation and turning it into an arcane focus.
Description
- The amulet consists of a thick, heavy medallion fashioned from unpolished red brass, hung upon a sturdy braided cord made of coarse, dark linen.
- The front surface features deeply carved Coptic script encircling a raised, angular sunburst motif, while the center holds a small, unfaceted crimson garnet that glows faint red whenever the wearer feels a spike of temper.
- The back surface is rough and uneven, stamped with the numeral “742” alongside fine, hairline etchings of protective prayers designed to ground chaotic magical currents.
- When held or worn against the skin, the metal feels warm to the touch, vibrating with a subtle, rhythmic pulse that matches a heightened heart rate.
Detailed Statistics
- Item Armor Check (AC): +1 AC (Does not exceed the maximum limit of 3 AC per item level for Tier 1 gear).
- Item Health Points (HP): Maximum Avatar HP + 10 (Calculated using a base Resilience rating of 10 multiplied by Tier 1, added to the wearer’s maximum HP pool).
- Damage Resilience: 10
- Weight: 0.5 pounds
- Tier Restriction: Tier 1 and above. Touching or attuning to this item does not cause pain to Tier 1 or higher avatars, as it matches their current tier level.
- Durability State: If reduced to half or fewer health points, the item becomes broken and its magical properties cease to function until fully repaired by an artisan.
Passive Magics
- Fervent Defiance:
- While worn and attuned, the amulet grants the avatar a +1 bonus on saving throws against effects that attempt to cause the Frightened or Dazed conditions.
- The protective Coptic inscriptions channel the avatar’s internal irritation into emotional grounding, preventing mind-altering magical influences from subduing their spirit.
- Vengeful Spark:
- Whenever an attacker hits the attuned avatar with a melee attack, the crimson garnet flashes with incandescent red light.
- The attacker takes 1 point of fire damage generated by the release of stored ambient anger, passing through as immediate physical reaction without requiring a separate action or die roll.
Activable Magics
- Invective Blessing:
- Action Cost: 1 Action
- Casting Type: Somatic / Normal Chant (Less than 6 seconds, spoken aloud with intense emotional vigor)
- Effect: The avatar recites an incantation of judgment while targeting a creature within 30 feet. The target must make a Difficulty Check (DC 11) saving throw or suffer 1d4 fire damage (matching the Tier 1 tier die). If the spell is cast using Silent casting (no words spoken), the total damage dealt is reduced by 25%. If performed as a Ritual chant (shouting or reciting for longer than 6 seconds), the damage increases by up to 25%.
- Wrathful Aegis:
- Action Cost: 1 Action (Can be prepared as a Reaction)
- Casting Type: Normal Chant
- Effect: The wearer touches the medallion and speaks the Coptic command word of wrath. For 1 round, the avatar gains a temporary shield that absorbs damage equal to 1d4 + 2. If an enemy breaks this temporary shield before the start of the avatar’s next turn, the stored energy erupts, forcing all hostile creatures within 5 feet to make a DC 11 saving throw or become Flat-Footed until the end of their next turn.
Roleplay Emphasis: Anger
- Temperament Shift:
- While attuned to Coptic 742 of Anger, the avatar’s emotional baseline shifts heavily toward impatience, agitation, and boiling irritation.
- Minor inconveniences—such as slow-speaking merchants, delayed transport, or weak tea—prompt visible scowls, clenched fists, and sharp verbal responses.
- Combat Expression:
- In combat encounters, the avatar does not fight with cold, detached logic; instead, every strike, movement, and spell chant is delivered with explosive fury and righteous indignation.
- The player is expected to describe the avatar shouting accusations, grinding their teeth, or channeling personal grudges into their offensive actions.
- Social Interactions:
- During social encounters, the avatar struggles to maintain a calm facade when encountering hypocrisy, injustice, or incompetence.
- Diplomatic negotiations are often strained, as the avatar prefers direct, aggressive confrontation over subtle politeness, treating evasive answers as personal insults.

- The storefronts feature glass counter displays, brass scales, and walls lined with specialized storage drawers for small protective warding items.
- Transaction Dynamics:
- Shopkeepers inspect the item using active concentration with the Mind’s Eye to verify the integrity of the Coptic 742 etching and the clarity of the central garnet.
- Merchants selling to full guild or faction members apply a standard 10% discount based on the seller’s tier level.
- If sold by an adventurer to an authorized merchant, the merchant will haggle down the purchase price by approximately 10% multiplied by the character’s tier level, with the proceeds deposited directly into the character’s World Bank account.
- Pricing:
- Buying Price: 10 to 15 Silver coins (or equivalent local coinage such as Nickel or Electrum equivalents). Guild members may purchase it for 9 to 13 Silver coins after applying member discounts.

Back-Alley Black Market Stalls and Furtive Fence Outlets
- Location and Atmosphere:
- Located in the hidden underbellies of port cities, subterranean megacities, or unregulated docks outside city gates where state state guards do not routinely patrol.
- These shops operate out of dimly lit basements, curtained backrooms of taverns, or mobile covered wagons that move between state borders to evade local warlord property taxation.
- Goods sold here are predominantly unsourced, looted from fallen avatars, or smuggled past state state customs to avoid the standard 3% to 5% trade tariffs.
- Transaction Dynamics:
- Transactions are strictly conducted using physical, hard coinage (Gold, Silver, or Nickel) rather than World Bank account transfers, as traders demand anonymity.
- Fences will maintain total secrecy regarding where the item originated and will not ask questions about previous owners or character marks.
- No guild or faction discounts are honored at black-market locations under any circumstances.
- Pricing:
- Buying Price: 20 to 30 Silver coins (or 2 to 3 Gold coins). Fences mark up the cost significantly due to the illegal, untraceable nature of the trade.
- Selling Price: If the black-market buyer urgently needs protective Tier 1 gear or fire-aligned components, they may pay up to double the standard merchant rate, offering 16 to 18 Silver coins in physical gold or silver cash. Otherwise, they offer a flat rate of 8 Silver coins in physical coin.
Local Warlord Outposts and Frontier Adventurer Exchanges

- The shops are rugged, multi-purpose general stores stocking travel rations, fluid collectors, basic ammunition, and secondhand gear turned in by local adventuring parties.
- Transaction Dynamics:
- Local town judges or warlord clerks assess municipal entry and transaction taxes on the spot, adding a 1% to 3% local tax fee to all incoming and outgoing goods.
- Prices fluctuate wildly based on localized supply, proximity to hostile wilderness areas, and how desperately the local population requires protective wards against aggressive fauna.
- Pricing:
- Buying Price: 12 to 18 Silver coins, plus a mandatory 1 Silver gate or seaport passage fee upon entering the city or town jurisdiction.
- Selling Price: Warlord clerks will offer 7 to 9 Silver coins, deducting local municipal transaction taxes directly from the cash payout.
Environmental Roleplay Dynamics: Offensive and Defensive Tactical Utility
Urban Environments and Dense City Precincts
- Offensive Tactical Roleplay:
- In cramped alleyways, crowded market squares, or bustling central city thoroughfares, the avatar utilizes the tight space to channel aggressive outbursts without collateral confusion.
- When cornered by hostile thugs or corrupt state guards, the avatar initiates combat by gripping the medallion and shouting a harsh Coptic judgment via the Invective Blessing.
- The player roleplays the avatar aggressively stepping forward, pointing directly at the opponent’s face, and using the noise of the city to amplify their furious chant, striking the foe with direct fire damage before they can react.
- Defensive Tactical Roleplay:
- Urban confrontations often involve surprise ambushes or quick melee strikes from close quarters.
- When struck by a rogue’s hidden blade or a club, the Vengeful Spark passive instantly retaliates, causing the brass medallion to flare and scorch the attacker’s hand.
- If surrounded by multiple foes, the avatar prepares Wrathful Aegis as a reaction, shouting at the aggressors to stand back; when an enemy breaks the barrier, the sudden burst of warding energy leaves nearby attackers Flat-Footed, allowing the party to secure the bottleneck of an alley or doorway.
Dense Wilds, Jungles, and Toxic Botanical Zones
- Offensive Tactical Roleplay:
- When navigating the untamed, hostile plant life of Saṃsāra’s wilderness, the avatar’s heightened temper manifests as fiery impatience against encroaching flora and predatory fauna.
- The player describes the avatar furiously hacking through thick vines while muttering incantations under their breath.
- Upon encountering feral beasts, the avatar channels their irritation into the medallion, unleashing a Ritual chant of Invective Blessing by bellowing across the clearing for over six seconds, elevating the spell’s fire damage by 25% to ignite hostile beasts or clear aggressive, magical plant growth.
- Defensive Tactical Roleplay:
- Wilderness environments present environmental hazards and psychological pressures, such as terrifying beast roars or disorientation from toxic spores.
- The Fervent Defiance passive keeps the avatar grounded; the player roleplays the avatar gritting their teeth and transforming rising panic into raw irritation, completely shrugging off fear-inducing roars or dazing pollen.
- When ambushed by pouncing predators, the avatar activates Wrathful Aegis, absorbing incoming claw strikes behind a red shimmering force barrier while barking commands to party members.
Subterranean Caverns, Dark Cave Megacities, and Ruins
- Offensive Tactical Roleplay:
- In echoing, pitch-black underground tunnels, the central garnet of Coptic 742 of Anger serves as a physical beacon of the avatar’s emotional state.
- When ambushed in the dark, the avatar uses the crimson glow of the central stone to target nearby subterranean foes.
- The player roleplays the avatar invoking the true name of a target (if revealed through the Mind’s Eye) alongside a Somatic chant of Invective Blessing, causing the spell damage to double as the Coptic incantation echoes loudly off the stone cavern walls.
- Defensive Tactical Roleplay:
- Underground combat involves tight choke points where damage mitigation is critical to protect weaker party members.
- The avatar places themselves in narrow tunnels, taking the brunt of enemy attacks.
- The tripled Armor Check in safe designated areas (or standard AC in subterranean wilderness) keeps incoming hits manageable, while any successful blow lands on the avatar’s extra Health Point pool granted by the item’s resilience.
- When hit in melee, the constant 1-point fire retaliatory damage from Vengeful Spark provides a steady, reliable defense against swarming, low-health cavern creatures.
Maritime Vessels, Airships, and Cloud City Perches
- Offensive Tactical Roleplay:
- Aboard swaying sea galleons, high-altitude zeppelins, or narrow cloud city bridges, the avatar uses the environmental tension to feed their anger.
- During boardings or aerial dogfights, the avatar channels their frustration with unstable footing directly into their magic.
- The player describes the avatar locking their legs into place, clutching the brass cord, and unleashing a Normal chant against enemy pirates, burning targets on opposing rigging or deck stations within 30 feet.
- Defensive Tactical Roleplay:
- Combats on ships and sky docks carry high risks of disorientation and falling hazards.
- If an enemy attempts to push or daze the avatar near a ledge, the Fervent Defiance passive provides the mental fortitude needed to resist displacement or disorientation effects.
- When hit by ranged attacks or boarding strikes, the avatar uses a prepared Wrathful Aegis action to cushion incoming blows, ensuring their HP pool remains intact while using the explosive shield burst to off-balance deck attackers.

- Base Metal: 1 pound of unrefined Red Brass alloy (composed of copper, zinc, and trace iron).
- Central Focal Gem: 1 small, unfaceted raw Crimson Garnet.
- Catalyst: 1 Tier 1 Magic Crystal (coin-sized and coin-weighted, harvested from a magic-using or aggressive creature).
- Inscribing Medium: 1 Fluid Collector vial of tree sap extracted from an ancient hardwood or desert flora.
- Suspension Cord: 3 feet of coarse, dark linen thread or braided fiber cord.
- Crafting Reagents: Basic alchemical flux and polishing compound.
Tools Required
- Metalworking Setup: High-temperature furnace or magic-driven steam forge, crucible, casting mold for a round medallion, and blacksmithing tongs.
- Engraving Equipment: Hardened steel gravers, scribes, and punches for carving fine Coptic script and numerical designations.
- Gem Setting Tools: Small jeweler’s pliers, bezel pushers, and burnishers.
- Testing Focus: A basic conduit of magic or spell focus to verify arcane flow through the completed piece.
Skill Requirements
- Metalworking / Jewelry Crafting Skill Level: Minimum Level 5 (to properly handle red brass casting, bezel setting, and precise rune engraving).
- Arcane / Alchemical Crafting Skill Level: Minimum Level 1 (required to handle and safely infuse the Tier 1 Magic Crystal during the smelting process).
- Language / Literacy: Knowledge of ancient Coptic dialects or script patterns to accurately engrave the protective prayers and numerical tags.
Crafting Steps
- Step 1: Preparing the Crucible and Alloy
- Place the red brass alloy into the crucible inside the furnace or steam forge.
- Heat the metal until it reaches a fully molten state.
- Add alchemical flux to clear impurieties from the molten brass, ensuring a smooth finish for the final casting.
- Step 2: Infusing the Catalyst
- Carefully crush the Tier 1 Magic Crystal into a coarse powder.
- Introduce the crystal powder directly into the molten red brass along with the extracted tree sap.
- Stir the mixture using an iron rod to evenly distribute the magical crystalline cells throughout the metallic matrix.
- Step 3: Casting the Medallion
- Pour the molten, infused brass into the prepared circular medallion mold.
- Ensure the mold forms the central raised sunburst pattern, the top cord loop, and the surrounding bevels.
- Allow the casting to cool slowly to prevent stress fractures in the metal.
- Step 4: Engraving and Marking
- Remove the cooled brass medallion from the mold and clean the surface with polishing compound.
- Using steel gravers, deeply etch the required Coptic protective prayers and script around the outer ring of the front face.
- Engrave the specific series designation “742” clearly on the rough back surface alongside the secondary warding lines.
- Step 5: Setting the Central Gem
- Prepare the central bezel within the sunburst motif to receive the gemstone.
- Place the unfaceted raw Crimson Garnet securely into the center of the sunburst.
- Use bezel pushers and burnishers to fold the brass lips over the edges of the garnet, locking the stone firmly in place.
- Step 6: Finishing and Assembly
- Thread the coarse dark linen cord through the top loop of the medallion and tie it into a secure, braided loop for the neck slot.
- Perform a final inspection using active concentration through the Mind’s Eye to verify that the arcane channels flow smoothly between the garnet, the brass, and the numerical script.
742 Copper Plate of Great Displeasure
Long time ago before the former years came to be counted by the scribes of the sands, there existed a priest-smith named Koptos of the Red Earth. Koptos lived in a place where the sun was too heavy and the water tasted of old stones. He was a man whose spirit was filled not with peace, but with a very great, eternal annoyance. The flies bit his legs, the bread contained small gravels, and the kings of the land were constantly asking for higher taxes on his donkey.
It was written in the broken skin of papyrus that Koptos walked into the hot hills where the red rocks spit fire-water. He did hold in his left hand a vessel of tree-sap and in his right hand a small stone of red fruit-color, which was the garnet. He shouted at the sky, saying, “Why is the earth so full of foolish people and why do the donkeys walk so slow?” His mind was like a boiling pot that has no lid, overflowing with the soup of fury.
He gathered the brass that was red like the skin of a boiled crab. He put the brass into the stone-pot over the great heat. While the metal was turned into water-metal, a wild beast of four legs and many sharp teeth came out from the dry bushes. The beast was very angry because it had no food, and its eyes were like small suns. It did bite the leg of Koptos. But Koptos did not cry out in fear; instead, he became twice as much angry as the beast.
Koptos took the beast by its ears and did speak to it many bad words from the old language that no mother teaches her child. He grabbed the magic life-cell from inside the chest of the beast—it was a small crystal of the tier one size—and he threw both the crystal and the tree-water into the hot red metal. The metal did make a very big noise like a wet cat dropped into a fireplace.
Then Koptos poured the red liquid metal into a round hole in the mud. While it was cooling, he took a iron nail and he carved upon the face of the metal plate many words that were translated poorly by later men as: “Go away from me, you foolish traveler, or I shall strike your elbows with a heavy stick.” On the back of the plate, because he was tired of counting his own grievances, he simply struck the numbers seven, four, and two with a hammer, for it was the seven-hundredth and forty-second time that day he had felt a great irritation in his liver.
He placed the red garnet in the middle of the sun-burst drawing and attached the plate to a rope made of rough grass. He placed it around his neck. Immediately, his neck felt very warm, as if he was wearing a soup bowl full of hot porridge.
Shortly after this time, three men of the bad-way came down the mountain. They were thieves who carried big knives made of bronze and wore leather skins that smelled of ancient goats. They said to Koptos, “Give to us your donkey and your silver coins, or we shall make your blood to flow like river water.”
Koptos looked upon them with extreme displeasure. The red garnet on his chest began to shine like a hot coal from a furnace. He spoke the ancient words of the Coptic prayer with a very loud shouting voice, which the ancient translator translated as: “May your knees become soft like overcooked cabbage and may your teeth fall into your boots!”
A great flame of red light jumped from the brass plate. The first thief, who had tried to cut Koptos with his knife, received a sudden burning upon his hand, as if a bee made of fire had stung him. He dropped his knife into the dirt and made a loud screaming noise like a small pig.
The second thief attempted to strike Koptos with a heavy wooden club. But the magic of the seven-hundredth forty-second plate made a red wall of invisible thickness around Koptos. When the wooden club hit the red wall, the wall exploded with a sound like a big drum being broken by an ox. The three thieves were knocked down upon their backs on the ground, and their minds became like milk that has gone sour in the sun—they were flat-footed and could not stand up for many minutes.
Koptos did not take their money, nor did he kill them. He simply yelled at them for forty minutes about how they had ruined his afternoon and how his tea was getting cold. He then walked away down the mountain path, his face still red with temper, while the amulet around his neck continued to hum with the sound of a angry beehive.
The story was carried across the seventy-three land-masses by sailors who did not speak the language well. They said that whoever wears the Coptic seven-hundred forty-two shall never be frightened by wild lions or tax collectors, because their own internal anger shall be greater than any fear brought by another man.
Moral of the Story
When the world gives you small annoyances and great troubles, do not hide your temper in the dark; for if you forge your anger with proper discipline and sacred purpose, even your smallest irritations can become a shield to protect you and a flame to scatter your enemies.
