They found a stone, not of earth, and placed it in the sword, speaking words of the first gods, whose names are now lost. As they worked, the sun bowed to them, and the wind carried their prayers to the skies.

When the sword was made, it was brought to the people. The blade shone with light that was not light, for it came not from the sun, nor the stars, but from something beyond the veil of this world. When the sword was held by Rhalith, it sang—though not with words known to man—and the shadows trembled, for they knew their time had come.

Rhalith, with the Spiritbane Sword in hand, walked into the darkest place, where the whisperers gathered. The sword moved with no hand to guide it, cutting the air where the shadows clung. And the whisperers fled. But Rhalith did not stop, for the sword hungered for what was not seen. And so he followed the shadows to the edge of the world, where the light of men does not reach.

There, they say, Rhalith vanished, sword in hand. Some say he still walks, chasing the shadows in places where no living man can go. Others say the sword awaits the hand of one who can finish Rhalith’s quest.

Moral of the Story: To hold a blade that strikes what cannot be seen, one must be willing to walk where light cannot follow.
