From: Sentinels of Alderwood

Lore: The Shadowweave Bracers possess a rich and mysterious lore steeped in ancient secrets and shadowy enchantments. Legend has it that these bracers were crafted by a secretive group of shadow manipulators known as the Umbral Syndicate, who sought to harness the power of darkness for their own purposes. The rare material from which the bracers are made is believed to have been sourced from the darkest corners of the realm, imbued with ancient magic during a secretive and forbidden ritual.

The Umbral Syndicate, skilled in the art of stealth and deception, wove their shadowy abilities into the bracers. Through their clandestine rituals, they tapped into the essence of darkness itself, infusing the material with its transformative power. The bracers became a symbol of the Syndicate’s expertise in covert operations and their affinity for operating in dim light or complete darkness.

Use: The primary use of the Shadowweave Bracers is to enhance the wearer’s stealth capabilities, making them exceedingly difficult to detect in environments with limited light. The bracers blend seamlessly with shadows, granting the wearer an inherent advantage when attempting to remain hidden or move silently. Whether infiltrating enemy territory, scouting ahead, or engaging in covert operations, these bracers are invaluable tools for those seeking to operate undetected.

Possessing these bracers signifies an affinity for darkness, mastery over stealth, and the ability to move with finesse and precision in dimly lit or dark environments.

Origins and Material:

  • The Shadowweave Bracers are crafted from a rare and mysterious material known as Umbralite. Umbralite is a substance that exists in the shadowy realms beyond mortal comprehension, said to be born from the essence of darkness itself. It is rumored that the Umbralite is found deep within the most treacherous and remote corners of the Shadowlands, a plane of existence where light barely reaches.
  • The process of obtaining Umbralite is perilous, as it requires traversing through perilous shadow-infested landscapes and facing otherworldly creatures that dwell within. Skilled artisans, trained in the arts of shadow manipulation, meticulously shape the Umbralite into the form of bracers, harnessing its innate properties and enhancing them with ancient magic.

Enhancements and Abilities: The Shadowweave Bracers possess several unique abilities that go beyond their basic function of enhancing stealth capabilities. Some additional features and enhancements associated with these bracers may include:

  • Shadow Cloak: When activated, the bracers envelop the wearer in a shadowy aura, rendering them partially intangible and allowing them to pass through solid objects momentarily. This ability grants the wearer the ability to bypass barriers, traps, or even ambush enemies by moving through walls or obstacles.
  • Veil of Concealment: By channeling the magic within the bracers, the wearer can create illusory shadows that distort their appearance, making it difficult for enemies to discern their true position. This ability can confuse opponents, leading them to strike at empty spaces or exposing vulnerabilities that can be exploited.
  • Night Vision: The Shadowweave Bracers enhance the wearer’s vision, allowing them to see clearly even in complete darkness. It grants the wearer an advantage in dimly lit environments, eliminating any penalties associated with limited visibility.
  • Shadow Step: With a swift gesture or command, the wearer can teleport short distances, vanishing into one shadow and reappearing in another. This ability grants the wearer unparalleled mobility and the element of surprise, enabling them to quickly navigate the battlefield or escape dangerous situations.

Legacy and Significance: The Shadowweave Bracers are shrouded in secrecy and coveted by those who thrive in the world of shadows. Their lore spans across countless tales of legendary thieves, assassins, and spies who wielded the bracers to carry out their covert operations. The possession of these bracers signifies mastery over stealth and shadow manipulation, and it often grants the wearer a fearsome reputation among those who walk the shadowed paths.

Throughout history, the Shadowweave Bracers have been associated with clandestine organizations, shadowy guilds, and individuals who operate in the realms of intrigue and espionage. Their unique abilities make them invaluable tools for those engaged in covert operations, infiltration missions, or any situation where remaining unseen and striking from the shadows is essential.

Due to their scarcity and the risks associated with acquiring Umbralite, the Shadowweave Bracers are considered prized possessions and are often passed down through generations within secretive lineages or sold for exorbitant prices to the highest bidder. Owning a pair of these bracers grants not only enhanced stealth capabilities but also a connection to the shadows and the power they hold.

Shadowweave Bracers represent the duality of light and darkness, the art of subtlety and deception, and the empowerment that comes from mastering the shadows. They are objects of mystery and fascination, sought after by those who dare to tread the paths obscured by darkness.

In the world of Saṃsāra, the Shadowweave Bracers are rare and coveted items sought after by those who operate in the shadows, such as rogues, spies, and assassins. The bracers’ mysterious origin and powerful abilities mean that they are not available in common markets and are instead traded in exclusive, often secretive establishments. The price and availability of these bracers vary depending on the location and reputation of the shop, as well as the difficulty of acquiring the rare material, Umbralite, from which they are made.

    • Transaction: Deals here are often made with a mix of gold and services, especially in exchange for information or completing jobs for the local rogue community. The transactions are discreet, and trust is built through reputation and shared interests.

The Shadowweave Bracers are considered a rare and elite item in Saṃsāra, available only to those with the right connections, reputation, or wealth. Each location offers a unique flavor of the world, with costs varying based on exclusivity, rarity, and the buyer’s ability to navigate the shadowy world of covert dealings.

The Shadowweave Bracers are powerful tools in both defense and offense, allowing the wearer to manipulate shadows, enhance stealth, and create tactical advantages in a wide variety of environments. Their ability to blend with darkness and manipulate shadows makes them invaluable in numerous scenarios, whether in combat, infiltration, or exploration. Below are examples of how the bracers can be used for both defensive and offensive roleplay in different environments.

  • Urban Environment: Narrow Alleys and Rooftops
    • Offensive Roleplay:
      • Infiltration and Ambush: The wearer can use the Shadow Step ability to teleport between shadows cast by buildings, moving swiftly and silently from one rooftop to another or through dark alleyways. This allows the wearer to sneak up on guards or enemies, ambush them, and escape before being detected. The bracers’ Veil of Concealment ability can be used to create illusory shadows, confusing enemies and forcing them to attack empty spaces.
      • Assassination and Sabotage: The bracers enable the wearer to move unseen through crowded city streets, bypassing guards and locked doors by utilizing the Shadow Cloak to phase through walls or barriers. They can silently enter guarded homes or strongholds, disable traps, or sabotage targets without leaving a trace.
    • Defensive Roleplay:
      • Evasion and Escape: If cornered or pursued through the twisting alleys of a city, the wearer can use the Shadow Step ability to teleport to a distant shadow, eluding pursuers with ease. When under attack, activating the Shadow Cloak allows the wearer to momentarily become intangible, letting attacks pass through them as they retreat through solid objects like walls or gates.
      • Stealth and Deception: The bracers’ natural stealth bonuses make it easier to blend into the darkness of urban environments. The wearer can use the Veil of Concealment to hide in plain sight, creating false shadows and misleading opponents into striking at illusory duplicates.
  • Wilderness Environment: Dense Forests and Caves
    • Offensive Roleplay:
      • Ambushing from Darkness: In dense forests or caves where light is scarce, the wearer can easily blend into the surrounding shadows, using the Night Vision enhancement to track enemies without being seen. They can lie in wait and strike from the cover of darkness, using the bracers to remain undetected. Shadow Step allows for repositioning, jumping from one shadowed tree to another, or between the stalagmites in caves, catching enemies off-guard.
      • Guerilla Tactics: The wearer can use hit-and-run tactics, attacking from the shadows, then retreating swiftly to another hidden position. The Veil of Concealment can be used to confuse enemies, distorting their perception of the terrain and making it difficult to predict the wearer’s next move.
    • Defensive Roleplay:
      • Hiding and Evading Pursuit: In the wilderness, especially during the night, the Shadowweave Bracers allow the wearer to disappear into the shadows of trees, caves, or underbrush. Enemies will find it difficult to track them as the wearer moves silently and remains hidden, even in close quarters. The Night Vision enhancement eliminates penalties for moving in the dark.
      • Navigating Dangerous Terrain: The bracers provide an advantage in dark, hazardous environments. Whether it’s a thick forest at night or a cave system filled with pitfalls and traps, the wearer can navigate without fear of stumbling or being caught unaware. They can also use Shadow Cloak to pass through barriers or traps when escape routes are blocked.
  • Combat Environment: Battlefield or Arena
    • Offensive Roleplay:
      • Shadow-Assisted Combat: On a battlefield where cover is scarce, the wearer can use Shadow Step to teleport to strategic positions behind enemy lines or into advantageous spots. This mobility allows the wearer to take out key targets quickly, retreating into the shadows before counterattacks can land. The Veil of Concealment can be used to create illusory distractions, drawing enemy attention away from the wearer’s real position.
      • Surprise Strikes: In an arena or skirmish, the wearer can suddenly disappear from sight using the bracers’ stealth enhancements, only to reappear moments later from the shadow of a nearby obstacle. This surprise movement makes it easy to flank or catch opponents off-guard, turning the tide of battle in their favor.
    • Defensive Roleplay:
      • Dodging and Escaping Attacks: When surrounded or under heavy attack, the wearer can activate Shadow Cloak to become intangible for a brief moment, allowing enemy strikes to pass harmlessly through them. They can then use Shadow Step to teleport to safety, gaining distance and regrouping to plan their next move.
      • Defensive Positioning: The bracers’ shadow manipulation abilities can be used to confuse enemies, making it difficult for opponents to lock onto the wearer’s true position. Veil of Concealment can create decoys that distract and confuse, buying time for the wearer to retreat or find cover. This tactic allows the wearer to avoid critical damage and reposition for a counterattack.
  • Underground or Dungeon Environment
    • Offensive Roleplay:
      • Navigating Dark Corridors: In the claustrophobic halls of a dungeon or underground lair, the wearer can use Night Vision to see clearly where others may struggle. They can move swiftly through dark passageways, remaining undetected by enemies. The bracers’ stealth abilities make the wearer ideal for scouting ahead, infiltrating enemy strongholds, or launching surprise attacks.
      • Disarming Traps and Guards: In areas heavily guarded or trapped, the wearer can use the Shadow Cloak to bypass mechanical or magical traps by becoming intangible and phasing through locked doors or walls. Shadow Step allows them to move past patrols, appearing behind guards to neutralize them quickly.
    • Defensive Roleplay:
      • Avoiding Detection: In narrow, dark corridors filled with traps and enemies, the bracers allow the wearer to move silently and remain unseen. Night Vision ensures they are always aware of their surroundings, while Shadow Step provides a quick escape if detected or ambushed.
      • Escaping Pits or Locked Rooms: When trapped in a pit or locked room, the Shadow Cloak ability allows the wearer to phase through walls or barriers, bypassing physical restrictions. This makes the bracers invaluable for avoiding dangerous traps, pitfall rooms, or magical entrapments found in dungeons.
  • Political or Social Environment: Courts and Gatherings
    • Offensive Roleplay:
      • Infiltration and Espionage: At a royal court or noble gathering, the Shadowweave Bracers allow the wearer to slip into restricted areas or eavesdrop on secret conversations. Using Shadow Step, they can teleport to an unseen corner or behind pillars, overhearing vital information. Veil of Concealment distorts their appearance, making it difficult for others to detect their true location or intentions.
      • Disguise and Deception: The bracers’ Veil of Concealment ability can be used in social situations to subtly manipulate shadows and obscure the wearer’s true identity. This allows for deception and disguise, making it easier to impersonate someone or go unnoticed in a crowd.
    • Defensive Roleplay:
      • Avoiding Detection: In a crowded political setting where assassins or spies lurk, the bracers enable the wearer to remain unseen or escape pursuit. If a situation turns hostile, they can use Shadow Step to vanish into the shadows, avoiding capture or assassination.
      • Silent Observance: When observing courtly intrigues, the wearer can position themselves unnoticed in the shadows, watching key conversations or dealings unfold. They can blend into dark corners or balconies, ensuring they remain hidden even in well-lit environments by manipulating nearby shadows.

The Shadowweave Bracers offer immense flexibility in roleplay, enhancing both defensive and offensive capabilities across a range of environments. Whether operating in stealth, navigating dark terrain, or outmaneuvering enemies in combat, the wearer can use the bracers’ shadow-based powers to gain tactical advantages, escape danger, and manipulate their surroundings to suit their needs.

Perception of Activation: Shadowweave Bracers

  • User’s Perspective: When the Shadowweave Bracers are activated, the wearer experiences an immediate and profound shift in perception, blending into the surrounding shadows as the magic within the bracers pulses to life.
    • Sight:
      • Perceived: The surroundings become muted, as if covered by a veil of shadow. Colors lose their vibrancy, replaced by varying shades of gray and purple, but details are sharper and clearer. In dark environments, the wearer can see perfectly, as if shadows themselves reveal hidden objects and paths. The outlines of enemies blur slightly, making them easier to predict.
      • Positive: The clarity of vision in darkness is unparalleled. Even hidden doors, traps, or concealed enemies seem to shimmer faintly, revealing their locations to the wearer.
      • Negative: Prolonged exposure to this heightened sight can lead to disorientation, as the constant grayscale perception blurs the line between reality and shadow, making even familiar objects appear unfamiliar.
    • Hearing:
      • Perceived: The world becomes quieter, almost muffled, as though the surrounding shadows dampen the sounds. However, subtle movements, such as the rustling of cloth or the breathing of hidden foes, are amplified. Each sound seems to have an echo, as if heard from within a shadowy void.
      • Positive: The wearer gains enhanced sensitivity to soft sounds, making it easier to detect enemies or movements that would otherwise go unnoticed.
      • Negative: Louder sounds become disorienting and overwhelming, as the amplified echoes can cause confusion and disrupt the wearer’s focus.
    • Touch:
      • Perceived: The skin feels cool, as if lightly touched by a breeze of cold air. Objects touched by the wearer feel weightless or slippery, as though their connection to the material world has weakened. When interacting with shadows or dark spaces, the wearer feels a sense of blending with their surroundings, as if becoming one with the darkness.
      • Positive: The sensation of becoming “shadow-like” enables the wearer to move with greater fluidity and stealth, reducing the risk of making noise.
      • Negative: This disconnect from the material world can be unsettling, causing a sense of numbness or a lack of grounding in reality.
    • Smell:
      • Perceived: A faint, cold scent like damp earth and rain-soaked stone fills the air. It’s not unpleasant, but it carries the sense of being deep underground or within a shadowed forest.
      • Positive: The unique scent helps the wearer become more aware of their surroundings, especially in dark, enclosed spaces where this earthy aroma intensifies, signaling hidden passages or traps.
      • Negative: This scent can become overwhelming over time, making it difficult to focus on other senses or clues.
    • Taste:
      • Perceived: A metallic tang lingers in the mouth, akin to the taste of cold iron or the sensation of breathing in cold, damp air.
      • Positive: The wearer can often taste subtle changes in the air when magic or danger is nearby, a faint warning signal.
      • Negative: The taste can be distracting and unpleasant, especially when it intensifies in areas with strong magic or danger.
    • Extra-Sensory Perceptions
      • Shadow Awareness:
        • Perceived: The wearer gains an intuitive sense of nearby shadows and dark spaces. This awareness extends into areas not immediately visible, allowing the wearer to “feel” hidden spaces or shadowed corners, even through walls or barriers.
        • Positive: This heightened awareness provides a tactical advantage, allowing the wearer to plan movements, detect ambushes, or find hidden passages or items.
        • Negative: This constant awareness can lead to sensory overload, especially in environments filled with complex shadows, like dense forests or underground dungeons, causing confusion or hesitation.
      • Blending with Shadows:
        • Perceived: The wearer feels their physical form becoming softer or less solid, as if merging with the shadows around them. They experience a slight resistance when moving through light, but in darkness, their movements become effortless and fluid.
        • Positive: This allows for seamless movement in dark environments, granting superior stealth and reducing the risk of detection by enemies or traps.
        • Negative: Extended use of this ability can lead to a feeling of detachment from the physical world, leaving the wearer vulnerable to disorientation when returning to brighter environments.
      • Temporal Shifting (Perception of Time):
        • Perceived: Time seems to slow down slightly in dark areas, allowing the wearer to make decisions and react more quickly. This effect intensifies during moments of extreme danger, when shadows seem to stretch and warp around the wearer.
        • Positive: This perception shift provides the wearer with an advantage during combat or dangerous situations, enabling them to evade attacks or respond to threats with heightened speed and clarity.
        • Negative: When leaving shadowy environments, time feels unnaturally fast, causing a moment of confusion or disorientation as the wearer readjusts to normal speed.
  • Observer’s Perspective: To an outside observer, the activation of the Shadowweave Bracers is subtle but noticeable for those paying close attention.
    • Visual Effects:
      • The wearer’s form seems to blur slightly at the edges, especially in dim light or darkness. Shadows around them grow thicker, as if drawn toward the bracers, subtly concealing the wearer from direct sight. Occasionally, faint flickers of silver or purple light can be seen along the bracers.
      • Positive: Observers might find it difficult to focus on the wearer, particularly in low-light environments, as the shadows seem to hide or distort their figure.
      • Negative: The unnatural shifting of shadows might raise suspicion in those attuned to magical or arcane phenomena, alerting them to the presence of the bracers’ power.
    • Body Language:
      • The wearer moves more fluidly and silently, almost unnaturally so, as though gliding through the shadows. Their steps make less noise, and they seem to disappear into the dimmest parts of the room or environment.
      • Positive: Allies may see the wearer as a master of stealth, able to move through areas unnoticed and undetected, offering a sense of security in dangerous or covert missions.
      • Negative: Enemies or suspicious observers may notice the unnerving silence and the odd way shadows cling to the wearer, making them a target for those who can detect magical interference.
  • Positives of Activation
    • Enhanced Stealth: The wearer gains unparalleled stealth capabilities, moving through darkness undetected and blending with the shadows effortlessly.
    • Increased Awareness: The wearer can detect hidden enemies, traps, or paths by sensing shadows and dark spaces.
    • Supernatural Agility: In dark environments, the wearer moves faster, reacts quicker, and gains superior control over their surroundings.
    • Shadow Manipulation: The ability to create distractions or evade enemies by blending with the shadows adds significant tactical advantages.
  • Negatives of Activation
    • Disorientation in Light: Returning to brightly lit environments after prolonged use can cause disorientation or even temporary blindness as the senses struggle to readjust to normal perception.
    • Sensory Overload: Constant exposure to enhanced senses, especially in environments rich with shadows, can overwhelm the wearer, causing confusion or hesitation.
    • Detachment from Reality: Extended use of the bracers may lead to a growing sense of detachment from the physical world, blurring the line between shadow and reality, which could result in paranoia or distorted perceptions.
    • Mental Strain: The wearer may experience headaches, fatigue, or even hallucinations if they rely on the bracers for too long, as their mind struggles to process the extra-sensory input.

The Shadowweave Bracers provide immense tactical advantages but require careful use to avoid the mental and physical strain caused by prolonged exposure to shadow manipulation.

Recipe: Crafting the Shadowweave Bracers

  • Materials Needed:
    • Umbralite (x2 units) – A rare shadow-infused mineral found deep within the Shadowlands, needed to create the core structure of the bracers.
    • Voidsilk Thread (x10 ft) – A magical thread woven from shadows, used to bind the bracers with stealth-enhancing magic.
    • Obsidian Shards (x3) – Small, smooth pieces of enchanted obsidian, used to reinforce the bracers’ outer layer and enhance their durability.
    • Shadow Essence (x1 vial) – A vial of distilled shadow energy, harvested from shadow creatures or conjured through advanced magic. This infuses the bracers with their signature shadow manipulation abilities.
    • Moonstone Dust (x2 pinches) – Crushed moonstone, used to amplify the wearer’s ability to see in darkness and improve night vision.
    • Silver Filigree (x4 strands) – Thin strands of silver, enchanted to weave in magical runes that control the flow of shadow energy.
    • Arcane Ink (x1 vial) – A magical ink needed to inscribe ancient runes onto the bracers, binding the shadow magic to the wearer.
  • Tools Required:
    • Arcane Forge – A forge capable of imbuing items with magical properties and controlling shadow energy.
    • Enchantment Needle – A finely-tuned needle for weaving the Voidsilk Thread into the structure of the bracers.
    • Rune Inscribing Pen – A tool for carefully inscribing magical runes into the Umbralite and Silver Filigree.
    • Alchemist’s Crucible – For distilling the Shadow Essence and Moonstone Dust into the bracers during the final enchantment process.
    • Shadow Mirror – A magical mirror that allows the crafter to observe and manipulate shadows, ensuring perfect alignment of the bracers with shadow energy.
  • Skill Requirements:
    • Blacksmithing (Proficient) – Necessary for shaping the Umbralite and Obsidian into the correct form for the bracers.
    • Arcane Weaving (Proficient) – Required to bind the Voidsilk Thread into the bracers and weave shadow magic through the structure.
    • Runesmithing (Proficient) – To properly inscribe and activate the magical runes in the Silver Filigree, ensuring the bracers function correctly.
    • Alchemy (Basic) – For distilling Shadow Essence and Moonstone Dust and infusing them into the bracers.
    • Shadow Manipulation (Basic) – An understanding of shadow magic, necessary to work with and control the flow of shadow energy during crafting.
  • Crafting Steps:
    • Shaping the Core Bracers:
      • Begin by heating the Umbralite in the Arcane Forge. The forge must be infused with shadow energy to soften the Umbralite without losing its magical properties. Carefully shape the Umbralite into the form of bracers, ensuring they fit comfortably around the wrist and forearm.
      • Once shaped, add Obsidian Shards to the surface of the bracers. Melt them slightly with the forge, allowing the shards to bond with the Umbralite, creating a sturdy outer layer.
    • Weaving the Voidsilk Thread:
      • Using the Enchantment Needle, weave the Voidsilk Thread into the core of the bracers. This step requires precise stitching to integrate the shadowy thread with the Umbralite structure, binding the shadows into the material itself.
      • Ensure the Voidsilk is evenly distributed throughout the bracers, particularly along the edges and interior, where the wearer’s skin will make contact. This enhances the bracers’ stealth and blending abilities.
    • Infusing Shadow Essence:
      • Place the bracers in the Alchemist’s Crucible and carefully pour the Shadow Essence over them. Heat the crucible, allowing the essence to infuse the Voidsilk Thread and Umbralite, granting the bracers their signature shadow manipulation abilities.
      • While the bracers are soaking in Shadow Essence, sprinkle Moonstone Dust onto the surface. This dust will bind to the obsidian and Umbralite, enhancing the wearer’s night vision when the bracers are worn in dark environments.
    • Inscribing the Runes:
      • Using the Rune Inscribing Pen, carefully etch magical runes into the Silver Filigree strands. These runes are ancient symbols of stealth, darkness, and shadow control, necessary to channel the magical energies within the bracers.
      • Once the runes are inscribed, wind the Silver Filigree around the bracers, securing them tightly with the Enchantment Needle and Voidsilk Thread. This step locks the runes in place and ensures that the shadow magic flows evenly throughout the bracers.
    • Binding the Shadow Energy:
      • With the bracers fully assembled, place them before the Shadow Mirror. As the shadows align with the bracers, channel your Shadow Manipulation skill to bind the shadows to the item. This step is crucial, as it finalizes the bracers’ ability to manipulate shadows and blend into darkness.
      • While observing through the mirror, use the Arcane Ink to inscribe the final enchantments onto the bracers. These enchantments bind the wearer’s essence to the bracers, allowing them to activate the shadow manipulation abilities instinctively.
    • Attuning the Bracers:
      • Once the crafting is complete, the bracers must be attuned to the wearer. The wearer must spend an hour meditating in total darkness while wearing the bracers, allowing their essence to bond with the shadow magic. Only after attunement will the bracers reach their full potential, granting the wearer access to Shadow Step, Veil of Concealment, and enhanced stealth.
  • Total Crafting Time: 3 to 5 days, depending on the availability of materials and the crafter’s skill level.

Tale of the Woven Shadows

In days when stars not so bright in sky, there lived makers of dark. They call selves Umbr’ Syn’det, who know secrets that hide in shadow. They were people of quiet and of night, who walk paths where sun never touch. It was these makers who weave the first of the Bracers made from shadow-breath and dark-thread, to bring about cloak of unseen.

In deep caves where no eyes see, the Umbr’ Syn’det took the stones of dark they call Umbral’ta, a gift from shadowed lands beyond. With hands not swift but careful, they shape these into wraps for wrists, but such stones not yet ready to hide. They seek more.

Then comes the night of the Moon’s Vanish, when all light in sky taken away. It was then that the weavers draw breath from the void, the dark thread of Voids’lk. This thread they sew into the stones, pulling shadow deep into them, until the dark wrapped tight. The makers whisper word from long before, word lost to time, and the stones listen.

With these wraps of dark-stone and thread of void, those who wear become as shadows are. No foot sound, no eye see, no light catch. They say that wearer of these Bracers pass through stone like wind, vanish from sight like smoke in storm. But such power not without cost.

The ones who made, they wear the shadow but became as shadow too. Some say they slip away, no more seen in this world, carried into the dark lands where even gods cannot go. Some say they walk still, but no light ever touch their face again.

The tale not tell who wears the first of the Bracers now. Some speak of thieves who take crown with no hand seen, others tell of warriors who walk unseen to strike like night. All who wear, though, know one truth.

The moral of this tale be known: One who wear shadow cannot escape from it. In seeking to hide, they may become that which is never found.
