Renown Points

In the world of Saṃsāra, renown points are a measure of a party’s reputation, recognition, and accomplishments within the realm. Renown points are like another type of currency that can be used in the world. Renown points represent how well-known and respected a party is among various factions, communities, and individuals. These points reflect the party’s deeds, achievements, and contributions to the world, and they play a significant role in shaping the party’s interactions and opportunities within the world.

Renown points can be spent by a character or party in various ways:

  • Unlocking Opportunities: Characters with higher renown points may gain access to unique quests, special missions, or rare opportunities that are only available to those who have made a name for themselves.
  • Gaining Favor: Characters with notable renown might receive preferential treatment or assistance from NPCs. This could lead to discounts in shops, better offers from potential allies, or additional resources.
  • Joining Factions: Certain factions or organizations might require a minimum level of renown for characters to join. High renown might grant characters leadership roles or access to secret knowledge within these factions.
  • Social Influence: Renown points affect how characters are perceived by others. NPCs might treat characters with more respect, be more willing to share information, or even fear characters with a notorious reputation.
  • Unlocking Skills or Abilities: Some advanced skills, abilities, or spells might be unlocked based on a character’s renown. This reflects the character’s growth and recognition in the world.
  • In-Game Achievements: Renown points can serve as a measure of a player’s in-game achievements. Accumulating high renown might unlock achievements, which could provide additional rewards or bragging rights.
  • Quest Outcomes: Renown could influence the outcomes of quests. NPCs might trust characters with high renown more readily, leading to different dialogues, rewards, or resolution paths.
  • Story Progression: Certain plotlines or story arcs might require characters to attain a certain level of renown before progressing. Renown becomes a key factor in advancing the character’s personal narrative.

It’s important to note that renown points are a role-playing mechanism that adds depth and complexity to a character’s interactions in the game world. They encourage players to actively engage in quests, explore the world, and make impactful choices to shape their character’s reputation and story.

Note: Any time you see “experience points” in quest, items, or other information in this system; translate that into Renown Points.
