Lore

During the severe ideological schisms and structural collapses that rocked the 73 sovereign island nations of Saṃsāra, high spiritual technomancers, shadow-wrights, and exiled primordial shapers sought a single master relic capable of governing fate, divine alignment, territorial construction, and vengeful wrath. Convening beneath the divine authority and celestial auspices of the moon-goddess Gaialilith, master artificers gathered in a consecrated atelier driven by closed-circuit steam conduits balancing elemental fire and elemental water. Drawing upon five divergent focal matrices—the grounding soul-anchor of Item 314D of the Resonant Faith Focus, the seething psychological fury of Dark 713 of Anger, the sentient living bow-spirit and predatory venom of Heartwoods Lament 118, the probability-branching crystal core of Fortunes Gambit, and the tectonic stabilization arts of Ninjutsu 82 of Builders Veil—the artisans anchored the disparate matrices to a wagon-sized Tier 5 mana crystal. Through exhaustive high-tier consolidation, the ironwood stave, obsidian shards, probabilistic fate-wires, and tidal quartz were dissolved, pressurized, and permanently compressed into an indivisible, eight-sided pectoral neck amulet. The resulting Tier 5 artifact stands as an absolute talisman of architectural dominion, holy retribution, probability manipulation, and predatory nature.

Description

A massive, eight-sided pectoral pendant forged from brushed sanctified brass and reinforced with dark obsidian-glass framing. Held securely within its center is an integrated, multifaceted nexus gem: a swirling fusion of violet soul crystal, shifting probabilistic dual-thread quartz, and petrified living ironwood fibers that writhe subtly beneath the surface. The outer brass bevel is intricately engraved with silver-inlaid architectural blueprint schematics, geometric divine conduits, and jagged fracture-cracks that weep a faint, cooling lavender-and-charcoal mist. The pendant hangs from a heavy collar chain of braided squid-ink hemp cord interwoven with high-purity aether-silver wire. It emits an aromatic blend of damp coastal stone, rich temple incense, ozone, sweet honey, and scorched metal. The amulet feels cold against the sternum yet throbs with a rhythmic, furious heat that quickens in response to tension, glowing with an inner ultraviolet pulse when its powers awaken.

Multiple Passives Magic

  • Aegis of the Steadfast Sovereign: The wielder and all structures or physical barriers within 30 feet gain absolute structural cohesion; natural collapses, tremors, and siege impacts are dampened, granting the bearer and adjacent structures immunity to critical structural failure. Furthermore, allies within range recover an additional 10 hit points from any healing effect.
  • Resonant Soul & Fate Compass: The wielder’s spiritual form is immovably anchored against mental displacement, disorientation, and magical amnesia, providing total immunity to fear and confusion. The internal fate crystal grants an intuitive awareness of critical decision points and warns of structural weak points or hidden ambushes within 50 feet.
  • Primal Wrath Emanation: The wearer projects a menacing aura of predatory dominance. Hostile creatures attempting to target the bearer must overcome an oppressive sense of dread; weak-willed enemies hesitate, delaying their first hostile action in an encounter by 1 round. Ingested toxins and spatial traps register immediately as a sharp metallic tang upon the tongue.
  • Living Wildwood & Shrouded Labor: The wearer and their ongoing physical works are shielded by an illusionary distortion; when performing engineering, fortification, or stealth maneuvers, visual detection checks by enemies suffer a penalty equal to the wearer’s Tier (5).

Multiple Active Magics

  • Sovereign’s Forked Consequence (1 Action): Tapping the central nexus crystal before a critical resolution, the wielder splits the threads of fate. The wielder declares two potential outcomes for an imminent action or check; upon rolling, the bearer selects which reality manifests, forcing chance itself to bow to the sovereign’s intent.
  • Titanic Phantom Bastion (1 Action): The wielder thrusts the pendant forward, commanding the spirits of ancient architects and ironwood roots to erupt into physical space. An illusory yet fully solid rampart, bridge, or scaffolding (up to 30 feet in length and height, capable of supporting up to 5,000 pounds) manifests for 10 minutes, stabilizing collapsing ground and barring enemy passage.
  • Song of the Retributive Thorn (1 Action): Channelling righteous fury through the pendant’s vents, the wielder releases a screaming barrage of condensed, emerald-and-violet venom thorns in a 40-foot cone. Enemies caught in the blast take 50 points of primal poison and psychic damage; survivors must pass a mental fortitude check or succumb to chaotic territorial paranoia, attacking their closest allies for 2 rounds.
  • Divine Overclock & Banishment (1 Action): The wielder presses the brass casing, unleashing a blinding ultraviolet flare and a shockwave of silver fire. Any possessing entity, curse, or dark enchantment within 30 feet is forcefully severed and expelled from its host with 50 points of spiritual feedback damage, while the wielder’s next divine or channeling ability within the encounter costs no internal mana or item charges.

Specific Slot for this Single Item

  • Worn Item (Neck Slot)

Targeting, Disabling, and Repairing Sovereign Architect’s Scorn-Strung Wrath-Pendant 509

  • Targeting and Disabling Thresholds:
    • To disable the pendant directly, an adversary must declare a targeted strike against the neck ornament rather than rolling an attack against the wearer’s general defenses.
    • The defensive threshold required to hit the pendant equals the wearer avatar’s total Armor Check plus the avatar’s tier level (5) plus the roll of the avatar’s tier dice (5d12) plus the item’s native Armor Check modifier (+3).
    • If a targeted strike successfully matches or exceeds this threshold, the pendant’s internal mana conduits are severed, immediately disabling and unattuning the relic. All active and passive wards—including the architectural cohesion aura, the fate compass, the intimidation field, and the illusionary labor shroud—collapse instantly.
    • Once the item is disabled, subsequent targeted attacks deal damage directly to the pendant’s physical hit point pool.
    • The total hit point pool of the pendant equals the avatar’s maximum hit points plus 50 (calculated as base resilience 10 multiplied by Tier 5).
    • The pendant enters a broken state when targeted attacks deplete its hit points by half or more: Avatar Maximum Hit Points + 50
    • In a broken state, the eight-sided brass casing warps, the obsidian bezel fractures, the internal living ironwood fibers petrify and splinter, and the multifaceted nexus gem dims, rendering the relic inert and incapable of attunement or activation.
    • If targeted damage reduces the pendant’s hit point pool to zero, the artifact suffers irreversible destruction, disintegrating into shattered brass shards, pulverized quartz dust, withered bark ash, and inert silver wire.
  • Repair Procedures:
    • The pendant possesses no passive self-repair; lost hit points do not mend through rests, meditation, or downtime without active intervention.
    • While in a damaged or broken state, the pendant cannot be re-attuned or worn for magical benefits until its entire hit point pool is fully restored to maximum.
    • Repairing the relic requires a master artisan possessing proficiencies in Magical Metallurgy, Runecarving / Lapidary, Bio-Alchemical Artificing, and Divine Technomancy at a minimum skill level of 10 (base 5 plus 5 for Tier 5).
    • Restoration must take place within an advanced atelier driven by closed-circuit steam conduits that balance elemental fire and elemental water, utilizing a steam-driven precision lathe and a heatless brazier of still flame.
    • Reagents required for restoration include cold-drawn aether-silver wire to mend the circuit lines, fresh sap harvested from a living ironwood tree to revive the organic core, a pinch of powdered tidal quartz flux to reseat the probability matrix, and consecrated silver moon-ink mixed with prayer ash to re-inscribe damaged blueprint glyphs.
    • After the physical hit point pool is fully replenished and structural balance is restored, the wearer must repeat the one-minute rhythmic vocal recitation while fastening the collar chain around the neck beneath open starlight to restore complete functionality.

Acquisition and Commerce of Sovereign Architect’s Scorn-Strung Wrath-Pendant 509

  • Methods of Acquisition:
    • Master Multidisciplinary Consolidation: An artisan holding master proficiencies in Magical Metallurgy, Runecarving / Lapidary, Bio-Alchemical Artificing, and Divine Technomancy at a minimum skill level of 10 can synthesize the five prerequisite items: Item 314D of the Resonant Faith Focus, Dark 713 of Anger, Heartwoods Lament 118, Fortunes Gambit, and Ninjutsu 82 of Builders Veil. The operation requires an atelier driven by closed-circuit steam conduits balancing elemental fire and elemental water, containment anchored to a wagon-sized Tier 5 mana crystal, payment of the 15% consolidation fee based on the combined value of the components, and a successful crafting roll avoiding a 1 on a d20.
    • Excavating Sky-Citadel Foundation Reliquaries: The pendant can be unearthed from the sealed foundation-vaults of shattered sky-citadels and sunken pre-cataclysm spires scattered across the 73 sovereign island nations. These vaults are secured behind complex tectonic shear wards, necrotic grievance fields, and shifting probabilistic traps that require structural intuition, mental grounding, and divine protection to bypass.
    • Subduing a Rogue Divine Master-Builder: Avatars can obtain the pendant by defeating or systematically disarming a renegade arch-technomancer or fallen high inquisitor who wears it openly on contested battlefronts. Because legendary items risk shattering into inert slag, petrified wood, and ash if their bonded wielder experiences sudden death while attuned, the possessor must be restrained, disarmed of the collar, or forced into formal ritual submission.
    • Grand Conclave Imperial Mandate: The sovereign assembly of grand magistrates or a high synod directly consecrated to the moon-goddess Gaialilith may present this legendary neck ornament to an avatar who averts a tectonic island collapse, purges a catastrophic spectral haunting from an imperial capital, or anchors a fractured planetary ley line.
  • Commercial Venues, Transaction Methods, and Costs:

Bidding proceeds through silent, wax-sealed bids backed by physical Platinum plate, unminted Rhodium bars, or authenticated World Bank letters of credit.
      • Cost to Purchase: 135 to 145 Rhodium coins (commanding a steep social premium driven by aristocratic demand for personal wards and fate manipulation).
      • Value if Sold: 65 to 70 Rhodium coins in certified bank drafts, minus the standard auction commission.
    • The Sub-Sluice Black-Market Foundry:
      • Type of Shop: A secluded, soot-stained vault concealed behind churning canal overflow conduits and steam-drain gates beneath an industrial borough, patronized by contraband dealers, renegade shadow-weavers, and illegal construct-forgers.
      • How It Is Bought and Sold: Transactions occur off the public record, bypassing sovereign watch registries, identity checks, and tax tolls entirely. Payment must be made directly by hand in physical, unrecorded Rhodium bullion, high-purity astral soul crystals, or raw uncut diamonds.
      • Cost to Purchase: 140 to 155 Rhodium coins (marked up to offset the extreme danger of trafficking an unregistered, sovereign-grade divine artifact).
      • Value if Sold: 68 to 72 Rhodium coins settled on the spot in physical, untraceable coinage or bullion.

Tactical Roleplay and Environmental Applications of Sovereign Architect’s Scorn-Strung Wrath-Pendant 509

  • Dense Urban Centers, Cramped Alleys, and High-Rise Megacity Plazas:
    • Offensive Tactics:
      • In bustling public plazas or narrow cobblestone thoroughfares contested by rival syndicate enforcers or corrupt city marshals, the bearer taps the central multifaceted nexus gem to activate Sovereign’s Forked Consequence before executing an arrest or offensive maneuver, declaring an unavoidable disarm or a sweeping tackle to ensure the decisive strike lands without collateral harm to fleeing civilians.
      • When pursuing elusive saboteurs through multi-tiered tenement alleys, the wielder unleashes Song of the Retributive Thorn; a roaring blast of screaming emerald-and-violet venom-thorns explodes down the alleyway, embedding toxic psychoactive barbs into the fleeing targets, causing them to hallucinate phantom vines and turn on each other in territorial frenzy.
      • Confronting an entrenched criminal syndicate behind reinforced iron grates, the user invokes Titanic Phantom Bastion offensively, conjuring a 30-foot solid phantom battering beam that crushes the barricades and pins the defenders against the masonry without fracturing the surrounding residential foundations.
    • Defensive Tactics:
      • Amid the cacophony of steam-carriages, clanking factory pipes, and dense crowds, the passive Resonant Soul & Fate Compass filters out sensory overload, dampening the mental static and warning the wearer with an intuitive prickle of tension whenever a concealed crossbow or poisoned stiletto is drawn within 50 feet.
      • Should a rival faction detonate explosive runes or structural demolition charges to drop a stone bridge or tenement facade on the party, the passive Aegis of the Steadfast Sovereign instantly takes hold; the shockwave is absorbed, the stone lintels lock into place, and catastrophic structural failure is completely averted.
      • When cornered by pickpockets or press-gangs in shadowed backstreets, the wearer’s Primal Wrath Emanation darkens the flickering streetlights and projects a suffocating aura of ancient predator-dread, causing street thugs to freeze in terror and drop their cudgels before striking.
  • High-Altitude Floating Cities, Airship Skydocks, and Suspended Girders:
    • Offensive Tactics:
      • During mid-air boarding skirmishes between mooring zeppelins, the wielder activates Divine Overclock & Banishment upon leaping onto the opposing vessel; a shockwave of silver fire and blinding ultraviolet radiance scours the flight deck, severing the mind-control tethers of the airship’s enthralled helmsman and overloading the enemy deck-officers’ ocular sensors.
      • Trapping fleeing aerial corsairs upon an open catwalk, the bearer invokes Titanic Phantom Bastion, conjuring a massive illusory yet physically solid rampart across the docking spur, cutting off their route to escape skiffs and forcing immediate surrender.
      • If hostile aerial scouts circle out of reach, the user unleashes Song of the Retributive Thorn upward; the guided venom-thorns hiss on solidified wind, piercing the wings of enemy gliders or flying mounts and inducing violent confusion that forces them into uncontrolled descent.
    • Defensive Tactics:
      • In howling high-altitude squalls where gale-force crosswinds threaten to rip workers and rigging from exposed scaffolding, the Aegis of the Steadfast Sovereign radiates outward, anchoring the platforms and mooring lines against wind shear.
      • When navigating narrow girder-ways obscured by cloud mist and boiler exhaust, the Living Wildwood & Shrouded Labor passive bends visual light around the wielder and their tools, hiding their repair work and movements from airborne spotters.
      • If an explosion damages an airship’s buoyant envelope or severing struts, the wearer triggers Titanic Phantom Bastion beneath the ruptured framework; the solid phantom scaffolding carries the 5,000-pound load of the failing keel for 10 minutes, buying the crew critical time to enact permanent mechanical repairs.
  • Subaquatic Enclaves, Deep Coral Domes, and Sinking Sluice Chambers:
    • Offensive Tactics:
      • Confronting rogue salvagers or marauding undersea abominations attempting to breach a sub-sea habitat, the bearer unleashes Song of the Retributive Thorn through the brine; the psychoactive pollen and toxic spores diffuse into the water, driving enemy assault beasts into blind cannibalistic fury against their own handlers.
      • Against corrupt officials or technomancers possessed by abyssal water-shades, the wielder closes the distance and activates Divine Overclock & Banishment; the burst of consecrated silver flame purges the parasitic entity through the flooded deck, casting it screaming back into the depths.
      • In narrow maintenance tunnels, the wielder fires Titanic Phantom Bastion forward to manifest a solid coral-and-ironwood wedge, driving encroaching trench-crawlers backward and sealing them into dead-end drainage shafts.
    • Defensive Tactics:
      • If external sea pressure or a concussive shock cracks the transparent quartz glass of an underwater dome, the Aegis of the Steadfast Sovereign arrests the propagation of the fracture lines, preventing catastrophic implosion while the wielder applies resin seals.
      • Moving through murky, silt-choked flooded corridors, the Sympathetic Palate senses chemical contaminants, stagnant brine rot, and toxic hydrothermal venting, immediately tasting like copper and ash upon the tongue to warn companions before diving into contaminated chambers.
      • When predatory sea-monsters home in on the party’s biological heartbeats and movements, the Primal Wrath Emanation projects the scent and aura of an ancient apex sea-leviathan, forcing hunting schools of barbed eels and deep sharks to veer away into the dark.
  • Primeval Jungles, Uncharted Swamps, and Ley Line Ruins:
    • Offensive Tactics:
      • Stalking an encampment of poachers or rogue mages deep within ancestral woodlands, the wearer steps forward under the concealment of Living Wildwood & Shrouded Labor and unleashes Song of the Retributive Thorn into the central clearing; the explosive burst saturates the campsite with maddening venom, turning war-beasts, guard hounds, and mercenaries into a chaotic frenzy of infighting.
      • Against massive planar incursions or aberrant constructs encroaching upon sacred groves, the wielder triggers Divine Overclock & Banishment, releasing an ultraviolet pulse that shatters the constructs’ artificial ley-matrices and banishes alien parasites back into the void.
      • In dense thorn-thickets, the bearer deploys Titanic Phantom Bastion to forge an elevated, solid road of phantom timber above poisonous quicksand and viper-filled undergrowth, allowing an entire expedition to cross hazardous terrain at charging speed.
    • Defensive Tactics:
      • When traversing decaying marshes riddled with sinkholes and treacherous root networks, the Resonant Soul & Fate Compass whispers the locations of structural collapses and hidden predator pits directly to the wielder’s mind.
      • Pursued by feral apex packs through dense canopies, the Primal Wrath Emanation causes natural carnivores to recognize the wielder as an avatar of pure wilderness retribution, forcing alpha beasts to hesitate and circle warily rather than pounce.
      • If the party suffers deep lacerations or toxic spore-burns during wilderness travel, the wielder gathers companions within the 30-foot perimeter of the Aegis of the Steadfast Sovereign, bolstering their recuperation and granting an additional 10 hit points whenever curative poultices or restoration magics are applied.
  • Subterranean Catacombs, Forgotten Mines, and Crumbling Vaults:
    • Offensive Tactics:
      • Cornering rogue necromancers or crypt-scavengers within ancient stone ossuaries, the wielder steps into the chamber and activates Divine Overclock & Banishment; the holy brass octagon flares with blinding light, instantly burning away shadow-shields, breaking possessing spirits out of thrall-warriors, and leaving the necromancers defenseless.
      • In tight, sloping mine shafts, the bearer projects Song of the Retributive Thorn toward an entrenched enemy firing line; the ricocheting thorns burst into dense psychoactive pollen, turning the confined corridor into a chamber of hallucinatory madness that drives the guards back into their own pit-traps.
      • When facing charging cavern terrors or stone-golems, the user deploys Sovereign’s Forked Consequence to dictate that a heavy warhammer strike cleanly fractures the golem’s central keystone, shattering the construct in a single decisive blow.
    • Defensive Tactics:
      • During sudden cave-ins, seismic fault-shifts, or mine-shaft collapses, the Aegis of the Steadfast Sovereign holds the trembling overhead rock strata in place, locking crumbling ceilings into a rigid arch until the party walks out unharmed.
      • Navigating through unmapped tunnels laden with acoustic tripwires, pressure plates, and false floors, the Living Wildwood & Shrouded Labor passive dampens the sound and visual footprint of the expedition, while the Resonant Soul & Fate Compass warns of structural instability steps before a foot lands on a trigger stone.
      • If subterranean shadows or creeping wraiths gather in the darkness to drain the party’s vitality, the wielder’s Primal Wrath Emanation radiates a burning, primordial fury that forces undead horrors to flinch and retreat back into the cavern fissures.

Perception of Activation:

  • User’s Perspective:
    • Sight: Upon striking the multifaceted nexus gem or uttering the activation chant, the silver-inlaid architectural blueprints and geometric conduits across the brushed brass face flare with an intense, blinding ultraviolet and electric-blue radiance. The central crystal writhes as dark green ironwood fibers pulse like exposed muscle beneath the quartz lattice, while glowing lavender and charcoal smoke curls lazily from the perimeter vents, drifting across your chest.
    • Sound: A layered acoustic explosion erupts directly in your ears: the deep, resonant toll of a massive cathedral bell ringing through an iron hall, immediately followed by the predatory roar of an ancient beast, the hiss of pressurized steam escaping a ruptured valve, and the high-pitched crystalline chime of spinning, frictionless gears.
    • Touch: The pendant shifts in a fraction of a second from ice-cold obsidian to a throbbing, white-hot coal pressed against your sternum, sending an electrifying jolt down your primary arm and spine. The braided squid-ink hemp collar tightens slightly around your throat with steadying, immovable rigidity, locking your posture upright and purging every trace of muscular fatigue.
    • Smell: Your nasal passages are flooded by a sharp, contrasting bouquet: ozone from ionized air, bitter wood-resin, damp coastal clay, steeped bitter tea, and the sweet, cloying scent of wild honeysuckle mixed with scorched iron and raw predator musk.
    • Taste: A sudden shock of copper and static electricity coats your tongue, followed by the bitter tang of crushed willow bark and raw honeycomb, leaving your throat dry and cold.
    • Extra-Sensory Perception (Architectural Ley-Mapping): Your Mind’s Eye perceives the surrounding physical terrain as a glowing, transparent blueprint of load-bearing stresses, tension lines, and structural fracture points. You instinctively know the exact weight limit of every beam, floor, or stone within 50 feet and can pinpoint structural failure before it manifests.
    • Extra-Sensory Perception (Bifurcated Probability Vision): You experience a double-vision of causality where time splits into shimmering parallel threads. You sense the tangible weight of two distinct realities pressing inward, allowing you to intuitively feel which path bends toward victory and which collapses into failure.
    • Extra-Sensory Perception (Predatory Territorial Awareness): A 360-degree primal awareness blooms in your consciousness. Every heartbeat, footstep, and hostile intention within 40 feet registers as an emerald ripple of bio-luminescence, connecting you to the primal hunger of an apex stalker.
    • Extra-Sensory Perception (Hallowed Anchor Stability): The mental disorientation of memory fractures and psychic strain is immediately erased. You sense an unyielding spiritual pillar driving straight down through your soul into the foundation stones of the world, making you impervious to fear, panic, and mental drift.
  • Observer’s Perspective:
    • Sight: The octagonal brass pendant flares with a sudden, searing ultraviolet halo that projects floating, runic schematics into the air around the wielder. The wielder’s eyes momentarily flash with emerald-and-violet light, and tiny arcs of silver mana crackle across their shoulders and chest. Wisps of dark, lavender-gray mist cling to their torso, blurring their silhouette into an imposing, shadowed outline.
    • Sound: Onlookers hear the deafening, reverberating strike of a bronze sanctum gong blended with a low, menacing bestial growl that seems to rise from the floorboards or earth beneath their feet. The air itself thrums with a heavy, mechanical vibration like an idling steam turbine.
    • Touch: Observers within 15 feet feel an abrupt, dry wave of heat wash over them, followed by an intense static prickle that raises the hairs on their arms and causes loose fabric to cling to their bodies. The ground shudders with a minor, localized tremor.
    • Smell: A pungent odor of ozone, lightning-struck earth, bitter herbs, and the musky scent of a large carnivore’s den suddenly displaces all ambient air in the immediate area.
    • Extra-Sensory Perception (The Sovereign Dread): Magically attuned or sentry observers feel a crushing wave of spiritual authority and predatory menace roll over them. It creates an instinctual flight-or-fight response, making weak-willed individuals freeze in terror, convinced that an ancient architect of divine vengeance is judging their presence.
  • Positives:
    • Grants immediate tactical clarity by revealing hidden structural faults, enemy weak points, and hostile ambushes before strikes can land.
    • Erases mental confusion, amnesia, and panic while conferring immunity to fear and disorientation for the duration of the encounter.
    • Projects a devastating aura of dread that intimidates enemies, causes hostile beasts to hesitate, and breaks enemy cohesion.
    • Allows the user to dictate the flow of chance and manifest solid physical fortifications out of thin air to protect allies.
  • Negatives:
    • The blinding ultraviolet flare and crackling silver arcs instantly eliminate visual stealth in low-light, subterranean, or nocturnal environments.
    • The lingering, pungent scent of predator musk, burnt iron, and ozone hangs in enclosed areas, leaving an olfactory trail that tracking beasts can follow long after activation.
    • The intense thermal surge from the brass housing leaves the wearer’s chest tender and hyper-sensitive to heat once the surge subsides.
    • The sheer volume of sensory input—overlapping blueprints, probability threads, and predatory sounds—can cause a brief moment of vertigo if the user’s mental discipline falters during activation.

Master Tier 5 Consolidation: Forging of the Sovereign Architect’s Scorn-Strung Wrath-Pendant 509

  • Items Merged:
  • Additional Materials Needed:
    • 1 Tier 5 Magic Crystal (a wagon-sized crystalline mana accumulator that serves as the central containment sink during high-tier consolidation)
    • 12 ounces of high-purity sanctified brass ingots (free of elemental slag to ensure unhindered divine and arcane conductance)
    • 1 pound of dense volcanic obsidian framing stock (harvested from Tsukuroi volcanic vents to seat the dark wrath and blueprint matrices)

    • Heatless Brazier of Still Flame and Harmonic Resonance Bell (to maintain psychic and acoustic equilibrium during emotional and spiritual compression)
    • Calibrated Pneumatic Calipers and Jeweler’s Loupe (for microscopic rune alignment and tolerance testing)
  • Skill Requirements:
    • Master Magical Metallurgy and Goldsmithing: Skill level 10 (base 5 plus 5 for Tier 5 synthesis)
    • Master Runecarving and Lapidary Artificing: Skill level 10
    • Master Bio-Alchemical Artificing and Organic Binding: Skill level 10
    • Master Divine Technomancy and Spirit Mediation: Skill level 10
    • Mind’s Eye Deep Focus (mastery over internal mental discipline to harmonize divine order, primordial predatory wrath, sentient weapon rage, and bifurcated probability lines)
  • Crafting Steps:
    • Fire and stabilize the atelier’s steam forge, regulating the hydraulic pressure between the closed-circuit elemental fire and elemental water boilers until the workspace is entirely free of seismic and acoustic vibration.
    • Anchor the wagon-sized Tier 5 Magic Crystal directly beneath the hearth basin, mounting the brass-and-quartz channeling rod to draw a steady, low-frequency containment aura over the crucible.
    • Prepare the sacrificial physical components: unstring Heartwoods Lament 118, grind its living ironwood stave into coarse fibrous splinters, crush the dark teardrop shard of Dark 713 of Anger, unbind the silver filigree of Item 314D of the Resonant Faith Focus, extract the dual-thread crystal from Fortunes Gambit, and remove the tidal quartz core from Ninjutsu 82 of Builders Veil.
    • Place the pulverized stone, metal frames, organic fibers, and crystal cores into the dual-aspect ceramic crucible basin.
    • Vent high-pressure elemental steam into the crucible while chanting high-tier catalytic consolidation verses, using the channeling rod to compress the disparate magics into a thick, luminous, violet-and-emerald alchemical magma without allowing the volatile wrath or probability currents to rupture containment.
    • Roll a d20 to verify the structural and magical stability of the high-tier consolidation: a roll of 2 through 19 secures complete harmonic fusion; a roll of 20 imparts an unintended sovereign resonance; a roll of 1 results in catastrophic containment failure, destroying all raw components.
    • Cast the molten sanctified brass into an eight-sided pectoral casing using the steam-hammer press, annealing the metal with alchemical cooling oils to freeze the octagonal stabilizing geometry.
    • Form the perimeter bezel out of the refined volcanic obsidian, carving micro-ventilation channels along the rim to permit controlled thermal and vapor dissipation.
    • Seat the molten alchemical slurry into the center of the octagonal brass frame, using the lapidary wheel and pneumatic burins to cut and polish the resulting multifaceted nexus gem so the writhing ironwood fibers, violet soul crystal, and shifting probability threads are held in perfect suspension.
    • Inlay the face of the brass housing with cold-drawn aether-silver wire, engraving the architectural blueprints of Tsukuroi, the divine conduits of Tyrus, and the jagged fracture-lines of ancient wrath across the perimeter.
    • Braid the squid-ink hemp cord with strands of high-purity aether-silver wire, threading it through the heavy top bail of the brass casing and securing it with an reinforced earth-magic binding knot.
    • Pass the assembled pectoral pendant through the cool smoke of the Heatless Brazier of Still Flame while striking the harmonic resonance bell, intoning the final words of binding: “Kuro. Tsuki. Asempta. Gaialilith.”
    • Quench the pendant in distilled living ironwood resin, verify the alignment of its structural, divine, and probability matrices via the Mind’s Eye, pay the mandatory 15% consolidation fee based on the combined value of the components, and complete the one-minute vocal attunement ritual beneath open starlight while clasping the chain around the neck slot.

Eight-Faced Chest-Iron, Green Roaring Wood, Smashed Stone of Bitter Spit, and Twice-Walking Luck-Glass

In the before-time of heavy salt, when the great white moon-mother Gaialilith had only laid down twenty-and-two of her seventy-and-three sea-stones, the world was very soft like warm lard, and the hills would run like porridge whenever the storm-breath sneezed. In those unmade days, the dead men could not find the hole to crawl down, the beasts of the bush had four rows of stone-teeth and did not know how to sleep, and when a builder drove an iron pine into the mud to hold up his cooking-hut, the earth would belch black oil and throw the beams into the clouds. Men died of falling ceilings; men died of the teeth of creeping vines; men died because their think-boxes became full of grey ditch-water whenever they crossed the water-gaps.

Upon the high island-rib called Tor-Kuro, where the boiling water-breath of Gaialilith screams through red copper throats, there lived a chief-hewer of stones whose scratches on slate name him Mason-Kuro, though some broken tablets say his name was Father-of-the-Square-Line. He was not a singer of flute-songs, nor an eater of soft sheep-meat, but a man whose elbows were hard as basalt and whose knuckles were stained with squid-black.

Beside his steam-bench, where the hot fire-pot and the cold water-pot spat at each other through brass screws, Mason-Kuro kept five small, unbrothered things within a hollowed log: First, a flat yellow neck-iron of eight equal edges, hammered out by the big-hammer shaven-heads of the iron tower, which carried a purple think-stone to keep a fallen traveler’s ghost from shaking out through his nostrils. Second, a sharp black teardrop of cold mountain-glass, weeping greasy smoke from ancient war-pits where the angry dead had bitten each other’s throats until the dirt went black with bile. Third, a great crooked stave of screaming green ironwood that was not cut with a saw but had crawled out of a three-river swamp upon its own roots, drinking the juice of adders and smelling like a thousand angry wasps. Fourth, a clear water-pebble caught in argent snare-wires, which had fallen from between two doors that were never opened, making every dice turn over twice before hitting the turf. Fifth, an obsidian ring-stone tied with sea-rope, wherein slept a watery quartz-heart that knew how to whisper to cracking rock and hold up a falling chimney with blue shadow-poles.

Now it came to pass in the season when the wet stars rot, that the great sea-bottom shuddered. From the red trenches beneath the salt came the King-of-Straight-Iron, a iron-plated titan who marched upon sixteen brass pillars, puffing red furnace-smoke and bearing a great iron square with which he meant to flatten all the seventy-and-three green cushions of Gaialilith until they were smooth as a greasy skillet. And behind this iron-crusher swam the Brood-Mother of the Choking Swamps, a bloated horror of barbed briars and thousand-toothed leeches, dragging forty-and-four howling phantoms of dead axemen whose graves had been dug up by the iron feet.

The folk of Tor-Kuro fled into the ditches, tearing their hair-braids and shouting: “The big straight legs come to stomp our porridge-pots, and the briar-mother comes to suck the marrow from our ribs! Take your stone-axe and go poke the iron knees!”

Mason-Kuro did not take a cutting-stick. He looked into his hollow log where the five unbrothered things lay cold. He spoke to his shivering apprentice, whose ears were running with fear-water: “If I hold up the eight-sided yellow iron, the swamp-mother will only chew it like a nut. If I put the black rage-stone around my neck, my own liver will burst with bile. If I draw the green tree-bow, the iron legs will bend the wood. If I roll the luck-pebble, it will only tell me whether I die by iron or die by briar. And if I whisper to the blue shadow-quartz, the sixteen brass pillars will smash the shadow into dirt. We must open the great iron belly where the two boiling breaths of Gaialilith wrestle without chains, and pound the five things into one single chest-bone.”

They ran into the stone hall of the whistling tubes. They did not burn dried birch; they turned the iron wheels until the white boiling fire-breath and the black water-breath rushed together into the red ceramic pot like two fighting sea-bulls. Into the hot belly of the vessel Mason-Kuro cast the things: He threw the eight-sided yellow brass that holds the wandering ghost; He threw the jagged black teardrop of the ancient biting rage; He threw the crooked green ironwood that hums like an angry hive; He threw the little silver cage of the two-road luck-glass; And he threw the black obsidian stone that knows the secrets of falling masonry.

The scratched slate of the old telling reads here with much soot: The big steam-vat shrieked like a boiled pig for nine turnings of the spit. A thick, terrible breath climbed out of the copper tube. It smelled of lightning-fire, hot copper grease, rotting pond-lilies, crushed wasps, bitter tea-leaves, and wet gravel all beaten together with iron-water.

When the soup inside became thick like purple pitch, Mason-Kuro did not make a spear. He took his tongs of river-slate and lifted the glowing ball onto the cold anvil. With a great hammer driven by the steam-piston, he beat the metal into eight equal sides. He seated the black volcanic glass around the edge to hold the steam-vents, and into the middle he drove the mixed heart—the purple ghost-crystal, the green writhing wood-sap, and the two-road luck-thread all squeezed into one shining stone that pulsed like an open eye. Along the brass he chased the silver blueprints of high towers with a cold chisel. Through the top ring he threaded the sea-cord of black squid-ink, braiding it with cold silver hair.

When he hung the heavy eight-cornered plate upon his breathing-bone, the ancient translated clay says: His chest became cold like a winter well, then hot like a glowing coal. His eyes saw the bones of the mountain through the skin of the grass, and his voice became the roar of a bull that has swallowed an iron horn.

Mason-Kuro walked out onto the trembling stone terrace. Below him, the sixteen brass pillars of the King-of-Straight-Iron were smashing the village walls into grey meal, while the Brood-Mother of the Swamps sprayed black rot upon the roof-thatch, her forty-and-four dead axemen shrieking for living blood.

Mason-Kuro did not run. He touched the brass edge of the eight-sided chest-iron, struck the multifaceted eye in its belly, and spoke the four binding names of old dirt into the smoke: “Kuro. Tsuki. Asempta. Gaialilith.”

At once, the silver lines of the blueprint flared with blinding ultraviolet lightning. An acoustic shock rolled out across the valley—not a small shout, but the tolling of an iron mountain-bell mixed with the furious roar of an apex cat and the hiss of broken steam-plugs.

The wielder struck the center stone a second time. The two-road luck-glass woke up inside the metal. Mason-Kuro declared the two roads: “The high bridge shall stand, or the sixteen iron legs shall trip into the pit.” The luck-glass clicked inside the brass; time split like dry firewood, and the road of falling fell upon the iron king. The sixteen brass pillars struck a crack in the rock that had not been there an eye-blink before; the iron joints twisted, and the great flattening titan crashed sideways into the chasm, its copper tubes bursting with white smoke.

Then the Brood-Mother of the Swamps screamed, sending her forty-and-four ghost-axemen flying up the cliff to eat Mason-Kuro’s liver.

Mason-Kuro did not raise a shield. He thrust the eight-faced pendant toward the sky and blew his breath through the brass micro-vents. The living ironwood sap and the hornets of the green stave woke inside the stone. Out of the pendant flew a screaming cloud of ten thousand green-and-violet venom-thorns, riding upon solidified whistling wind. The thorns did not merely strike the phantoms; they burst into clouds of maddening primal pollen. The dead axemen breathed the green dust; their dead wits broke; they saw each other not as comrades, but as wild boars invading their cabbage-patches, and they fell upon one another with their ghostly axes until all forty-and-four were chopped into empty air.

Then the Brood-Mother of the Swamps herself surged up the ravine, her thorned vines reaching out to strangle the high terrace.

Mason-Kuro took a deep breath of the ozone and bitter tea that puffed from his collar. He laid his hand upon the blue shadow-quartz inside the bezel and called forth the Titanic Phantom Bastion. Out of the empty mountain air rose a great rampart of pale blue shadow-beams and solid phantom ironwood, forty cubits high, slamming down across the ravine like an iron portcullis. The swamp-mother threw her bulk against the phantom wood, but the eight-sided brass held the stone together; not a pebble fell, not a beam cracked.

Then Mason-Kuro pressed the central purple eye with both thumbs and let the ancient anger of the black teardrop roar through the divine conduit. A blinding flash of silver fire and ultraviolet sun-light leaped from the brass face. The holy fire struck the swamp-mother; the ancient rotting rot inside her was burned away; the possessing swamp-shades were ripped from her briar-bones, and she dissolved into a warm puddle of green garden-water and sweet-smelling mint-soup.

The valley fell dead silent, save for the steady, rhythmic thump… thump… thump… of the steam-pipes down in the rock. The purple-and-lavender smoke drifted across Mason-Kuro’s ribs, smelling of roasted coffee, wild honeycomb, and lightning-scorched granite.

The village people came crawling out of the fern-ditches, their faces white with chalk-fear. The headman ran up with three pots of silver drakes and a basket of gold plates, shouting: “Take the yellow metal, keeper of the big hammer! You have broken the iron king and cooked the swamp-beast! Build us a high wall that never falls!”

Mason-Kuro looked down at the eight-sided chest-iron. It had grown cool against his ribs, but inside its middle, the green wood, the purple eye, and the silver wire were still breathing together in the dark. He pushed the headman’s pots aside with his boot-toe and spoke in a voice that sounded like heavy stones rolling in a dry river:

“Keep your soft silver to buy seeds, and use your gold to patch your leaky cauldrons. The iron king fell because he thought straight lines could tame the round moon, and the swamp-beast died because she brought old grievances to a clean threshold. I have tied the builder’s square to the wild root, I have hitched the angry stone to the hallowed anchor, and I have taught the luck-glass to mind its master. Go lay your stones true, leave room in the hedge for the wild bees, and do not make a great boasting when your chimneys stand upright.”

For sixty winters, no wall fell on Tor-Kuro, no phantom bit the cattle, and no iron leg marched up the salt; and when Mason-Kuro laid his head down into the red clay, he did not bury the pendant in a deep hole, but hung it upon the center-post of the Great Crane in the harbor, where it watched the tides come and go, waiting for a builder who knows how to hold the hammer with one hand and the forest with the other.

The moral of the story is: The builder who trusts only his straight iron makes a prison for his own neck, and the angry heart that nurses its venom drowns in its own bile; but he who anchors his craft to the deep bones of the world may hold up the falling sky with a single thread, turning the fury of the beast into the mortar of the wall and bidding the dice to fall where the hearth-stone is laid.

All ongoing curses, possessions, and enemy enchantments within the area are immediately terminated, dealing 3d6 spiritual damage to possessing spirits. The wielder’s next power activation or Arcane Background check during the encounter costs zero Power Points.

Shadowrun (6th Edition)

Sovereign Architect’s Scorn-Strung Wrath-Pendant 509

Unique Qui/Alchemical Hybrid Multi-Focus (Worn Item, Neck Slot)

  • Focus Rating: 6 (Bonding Cost: 36 Karma)
  • Form: An eight-sided pectoral amulet forged from brushed sanctified brass with a dark volcanic obsidian bezel. Held at its core is a multifaceted nexus crystal fusing violet telesma, shifting probability quartz, and writhing living ironwood fibers. Suspended from a braided squid-ink hemp cord interwoven with high-purity aether-silver wire. Worn exclusively as a single physical object around the neck.
  • Slot: Neck Slot (Worn Item, occupies 1 clothing/gear slot)
  • Availability: 24F
  • Cost: 450,000¥
  • Defense Rating Bonus: +4 Defense Rating while worn openly

Passive Mechanics

  • Aegis of the Steadfast Sovereign: Structures, doorframes, barriers, and physical covers within 10 meters gain supernatural stability, increasing their effective Structural Armor and Barrier Structure Rating by +4; catastrophic collapses and seismic demolitions are completely dampened. Friendly targets resting within this radius double their natural physical and stun damage recovery rate.
  • Resonant Soul & Fate Compass: The wearer’s astral and cognitive matrices are immovably anchored; the runner gains a +4 dice pool bonus to resist mental manipulation, illusion spells, memory tampering, or fear powers. The compass intuition alerts the wielder with a +2 dice pool bonus on Surprise tests and Perception tests to detect concealed structural traps or ambushes within 15 meters.
  • Primal Wrath Emanation: The runner radiates an aura of an apex predator. Hostile entities engaging the wearer must make a Composure (4) Test; failure compels them to hesitate and lose their initial Minor Action in the first combat turn. Chemical toxins, ingested bio-agents, and airborne pathogens register immediately as a sharp metallic tang on the wearer’s tongue without requiring a toxin resistance check to diagnose.
  • Living Wildwood & Shrouded Labor: Light and astral frequencies subtly distort around the user during infiltration, demolition, and engineering tasks, granting a +2 dice pool bonus on Sneaking and Engineering tests.

Active Mechanics

  • Sovereign’s Forked Consequence (Major Action): Spend 2 Edge before making any test (or forcing an opponent’s test). Declare two distinct plausible outcomes (e.g., “the vehicle stops or rolls over,” “the round hits cleanly or glances off”). After rolling, select which of the two declared outcomes manifests, completely replacing the standard net hits resolution.
  • Titanic Phantom Bastion (Major Action): Spend 2 Drain to project a solid, luminous rampart or bridge of hardened ironwood mana up to 10 meters long, 3 meters high, and 1 meter thick within 20 meters. The construct has Armor 12 and Structure 12, can support up to 2,500 kg, and persists for 10 Combat Turns.
  • Song of the Retributive Thorn (Major Action): The runner expels a screaming spray of psychoactive venom-thorns in a 12-meter forward cone. Targets caught inside suffer 10P damage (AP -3) and must succeed on a Willpower + Logic (4) Test or succumb to violent territorial paranoia for 2 Combat Turns, attacking the nearest creature regardless of allegiance.
  • Divine Overclock & Banishment (Major Action): Spend 3 Drain to release a shockwave of blinding ultraviolet radiance across a 10-meter radius. All spirits, bound astral forms, possessing entities, and active hostile sustained spells within the area suffer direct unresisted stun damage equal to Focus Rating $\times$ 2 (12S) and are severed from their hosts. The runner’s next spellcasting or conjuring test within the scene generates zero Drain.

  • Living Wildwood & Shrouded Labor: You are perpetually veiled in visual distortion; you gain a +3 item bonus to Stealth checks, and creatures attempting to target you while you are sneaking or working treat you as concealed.

Activated Abilities

  • Sovereign’s Forked Consequence [reaction] (divine, fortune, manipulate, tech); Frequency: once per 10 minutes; Trigger: You or an ally within 30 feet makes an attack roll, skill check, or saving throw; Effect: You split the causality matrix and declare two potential outcomes. After the d20 is rolled, you select which outcome resolves the trigger.
  • Titanic Phantom Bastion [two-actions] (conjuration, hard-light, primal, structure, tech); Frequency: three times per day; Effect: You project a solid, glowing wall or bridge of hard-light ironwood up to 30 feet long, 30 feet high, and 5 feet thick within 60 feet. It has AC 25, Hardness 15, HP 120, supports up to 5,000 lbs., and lasts for 10 minutes.
  • Song of the Retributive Thorn [two-actions] (emotion, mental, poison, primal); Frequency: once per hour; Effect: You discharge a 40-foot cone of screaming bio-venom thorns. Creatures in the cone take 12d10 poison and mental damage (DC 44 basic Reflex save). A creature that fails its save is also confused for 1 minute (and forced to attack its nearest ally on a critical failure).
  • Divine Overclock & Banishment [two-actions] (abjuration, divine, light, vitality); Frequency: once per day; Effect: You release a pulse of ultraviolet silver energy in a 30-foot emanation. All possessions, external psionic tethers, and hostile enchantments are subjected to a counteract check (+35 modifier, counteract rank 10). Possessing entities suffer 10d10 radiant damage on a failed check. The next spell or high-tier tech ability you activate before the end of your next turn consumes zero spell slots or Resolve Points.

Companions within range double their natural characteristic recovery during medical rest.
  • Resonant Soul & Fate Compass: Neural-shielding circuitry grants DM+3 on INT or EDU checks to resist psionic assault, telepathic manipulation, or cognitive confusion. Integrated sub-surface gravimetric scanners grant DM+2 on Recon checks to detect hidden ambushes, mines, and structural faults within 15 meters.
  • Primal Wrath Emanation: Pheromonal emitters and sub-audible infrasound radiate an apex predator frequency across a 10-meter radius. Opponents must pass an Average (8+) END or Willpower check before initiating combat against the wearer; failure inflicts DM-2 on their first action. Atmospheric micro-sensors instantly alert the wearer to airborne and ingested neurotoxins.
  • Living Wildwood & Shrouded Labor: Refractive holographic baffles cloak the user during engineering, breaching, and infiltration tasks, granting DM+2 on Stealth checks.

Active Mechanics

  • Song of the Retributive Thorn (Significant Action): The wearer launches a high-pressure aerosol dispersal of neuro-active venom darts in a 12-meter forward cone. Targets caught inside suffer 4D damage and must succeed on a Difficult (10+) END check or succumb to violent biochemical disorientation, attacking the closest creature for 1D6 rounds.
  • Divine Overclock & Banishment (Significant Action): Once per 24 standard hours, the pendant releases a massive ultraviolet and electromagnetic pulse in a 10-meter radius. All psionic links, puppet-controls, and hostile synthetic neural overrides are severed, dealing 3D damage to the controller. The wearer’s next psionic or high-energy device use within the hour consumes zero PSI points or power units.
