Lore
- The Celestial Matrix Vestment 4022 was birthed from a desperate convergence during a magical rift storm in the mist-shrouded labyrinths of Saṃsāra.
- A hive swarm, bearing the Resilience Weaver tool, sought shelter within an ancient observatory once held by the mystic Lyra.
- As corrosive magical flows threatened to disperse the swarm, they utilized bolts of Arcane Weave Fabric to reinforce their collective mass, inadvertently wrapping the Astrology and Divination Orb of the Forsaken Star within the center of their weaving matrix.
- The intense environmental pressure fused the mana-infused threads of the fabric with the iridescent light tendrils of the hive tool, while the essence of the forsaken star acted as a gravitational anchor.
- This molecular bonding transformed the three distinct objects into a single, unified garment of light and silk, possessing a collective consciousness that seeks to protect the abandoned through the strength of the hive.
Description
- This artifact is a single, continuous physical object manifesting as a sleeveless, high-collared vest made of shimmering Arcane Weave Fabric.
- The material is deep midnight blue, shot through with glowing iridescent threads of emerald and sapphire that pulse in sync with the user’s heartbeat.
- Embedded directly into the solar plexus of the fabric is the 3-inch orb of celestial glass, which now serves as the “core” of the garment.
- Radiating outward from this central orb is a complex weaving matrix of light tendrils that are physically integrated into the silk, forming a lattice of protective energy that shimmers and shifts.
- The object is soft to the touch but feels physically dense, vibrating with a faint, soothing hum and smelling of ozone and wildflowers.
- It does not exist as separate components; the orb, the tendrils, and the fabric are one indivisible relic.

Multiple Passives Magic
- The Forsaken Bastion: The vestment creates a localized field of “community comfort” that extends 10 feet from the wearer. Allies within this range gain a bonus to mental defenses against fear and feelings of isolation. Additionally, the garment passively regulates the wearer’s temperature and automatically mends any small tears in its own fabric within 24 hours.
- Synergic Displacement: The light tendrils woven into the fabric act as a physical and magical dampener. When the wearer is struck, the vestment subconsciously redistributes a portion of the force across its entire surface area, providing a permanent +2 bonus to Constitution saving throws and reducing all incoming non-magical physical damage by a flat value.
- Starlit Insight: The central orb passively hums when hidden enemies or traps related to betrayal are nearby. This resonance provides the wearer with a heightened intuition, making it impossible for the wearer to be surprised by an ambush while the vest is openly worn in starlight or moonlight.
Multiple Active Magics
- Barrier Redistribution (Reaction): Once per rest, when an ally within 15 feet is targeted by an attack, the wearer can cause the vestment’s light tendrils to lash out and form a temporary shimmering barrier. This reduces the incoming damage to that ally by 2d6 as the vestment absorbs the impact into its collective matrix.
- Guiding Star Nova (Normal Activation): The wearer speaks the phrase of Lyra to cause the central orb and the woven iridescent threads to erupt in a brilliant, 20-foot radius of silver light. This illumination lasts for one hour, granting allies within the light temporary hit points and revealing hidden or invisible enemies who intend to harm the group.
- Interpretation of the Forsaken (Concentration Activation): By meditating on the central orb for 10 minutes, the user can project a holographic vision of a target’s most significant past failure or moment of abandonment. This provides a narrative insight that can be used as social leverage, granting a significant bonus to the user’s next social interaction or interrogation roll against that target.
Item Hit Points and Magic Disablement
- The Celestial Matrix Vestment 4022 is a singular, molecularly fused object with a structural and magical integrity represented by 65 hit points.
- Because it is a Tier 3 relic, it possesses a high level of physical density and magical resilience. Mundane attacks from Tier 1 or Tier 2 sources generally fail to mar the fabric or crack the central orb, as the damage is absorbed and dissipated across the weaving matrix.
- To target the item’s magic specifically, an attacker must use Tier 3 or higher weaponry or spells involving concentrated force or magical disruption.
- If the vestment’s hit points are reduced to zero, the item does not physically disintegrate into its original components. Instead, the iridescent threads go dark, the central orb becomes opaque and cold, and the weaving matrix loses its structural tension, causing the vestment to hang limply like mundane, heavy cloth.
- In this dormant state, all passive and active magical properties—including the damage reduction, temperature regulation, and prophetic insights—are completely disabled until the item is restored.
Item Repair Mechanics
- Repairing the Celestial Matrix Vestment 4022 requires a specialized process that addresses the fusion of textile, hive-logic, and celestial essence. Standard tailoring or simple mending spells are insufficient to reignite the dormant matrix.
- The restoration must be conducted by an artisan with at least an intermediate understanding of both Enchanting and Hive-Mind Synergies.
- The physical repairs require the application of 1 spool of mana-infused thread and a single pinch of stardust to the specific areas where the matrix was severed.
- To restore the magical properties, the artisan must submerge the vestment in lunar water for a full night cycle under a clear sky. During this time, the artisan must perform a ritual of consensus, speaking to the dormant hive-intelligence within the fabric to re-align its light tendrils.
- If the hive-intelligence feels the “abandonment” of its purpose was the cause of the damage, the artisan may need to offer a token of commitment—such as an item of personal significance—to coax the celestial glass orb back into activation.
- Once the light tendrils begin to pulse with their characteristic blue and green energy and the central orb regains its shimmering transparency, the item’s 65 hit points are fully restored, and all magical functions resume.
Acquisition of the Celestial Matrix Vestment 4022
- The Celestial Matrix Vestment 4022 is an exceedingly rare Tier 3 relic that is almost never found as a stock item. It is typically obtained through one of the following methods in Saṃsāra:
- Discovery within the “Mist-Shrouded Labyrinths”: Explorers who penetrate the deepest levels of the ancient observatories or the subterranean ruins of the Deep Accord may find a dormant vestment. These are often found preserved in stasis fields or held by the remains of Hive-Mind guardians who perished while maintaining the consensus of the matrix.
- Specialized Commissions: A Tier 3 avatar may seek out an Elite Master Weaver at the Celestium Foundry who possesses the rare “Consensus Blueprint.” The avatar must provide the three Tier 1 base items—the Astrology and Divination Orb of the Forsaken Star, the Intelligent Hive Tool 8192, and several yards of Arcane Weave Fabric—along with a significant quantity of “Rift-Condensed Mana” to facilitate the molecular fusion.
- Inheritance or Rite of Passage: In certain high-altitude aerial nomad tribes or deep-sea hive colonies, a vestment is passed down to a designated “Protector of the Abandoned.” Obtaining it this way requires proving one’s commitment to the hive through a series of trials that test both physical resilience and the ability to maintain social harmony under pressure.
Types of Establishments for Purchase and Sale
- High-End Relic Sanctums: These are not traditional stores but secure, temple-like environments found in major metropolitan centers like Aetherhelm. The atmosphere is one of hushed reverence, where items are displayed on velvet-lined pedestals behind shimmering anti-magic fields. The staff are typically high-level mystics or scholars who vet potential buyers to ensure they possess the mental fortitude to handle the vestment’s collective consciousness.
- Arcane Auction Houses: Located in affluent districts, these establishments facilitate the sale of high-tier artifacts through silent bidding and private negotiations. There are no computers or digital displays; instead, descriptions are handwritten on enchanted parchment that scrolls automatically. Sellers often require a “Proof of Affinity” before allowing a buyer to even view the 4022 model.
- Specialized Hive Forges: In the underwater grottos or subterranean hive cities, specialized forges exist that cater specifically to swarm-based avatars and hive-mind technologies. These shops are integrated into the architecture of the hive itself, with walls of pulsing coral or glowing stone. Transactions here often involve complex bartering of rare essences rather than just physical currency.
Costs and Transaction Values in Saṃsāra
- Boutique Relic Sanctum Price: In a high-end urban sanctum, the cost for a Celestial Matrix Vestment 4022 is approximately 250 Platinum Pieces. This price reflects the “Sellers’ Market” status of the item and includes the cost of the professional attunement ritual provided by the sanctum’s resident mystics.
- Hive Forge Barter Value: When purchased directly from a Hive Forge, the cost is often lower in terms of currency but higher in terms of resource requirements. A buyer might pay 150 Platinum Pieces plus a rare “Vial of Ancient Stardust” or a “Resonance Crystal” from a rift storm. The hive sellers may also reduce the price if the buyer has performed a significant service for the local swarm, such as clearing a toxic environmental blight.
- Private Negotiation/Black Market: Due to the “Buyer Beware” nature of Saṃsāra’s economy, a vestment might be found for as low as 100 Platinum Pieces in a shady “Rift-Side” market, but such items often come with “Dissonant Matrix” errors or physical damage that the seller is attempting to hide. A fully functional, pristine Tier 3 vestment rarely changes hands for less than 180 Platinum Pieces in any reputable setting.
- Resale Value: If an avatar attempts to sell the vestment, they can expect to receive between 60 to 90 Platinum Pieces from a reputable dealer, depending on the current stability of the magical tides and the local demand for defensive hive-tech. Dealers will meticulously inspect the central orb for cracks and the weave for mana-depletion before finalizing any offer.
Roleplay Dynamics of the Celestial Matrix Vestment 4022
- The Celestial Matrix Vestment 4022 is a weapon of shared endurance and tactical insight, forcing the wearer to act as the literal heart of their party’s defense.
- Roleplaying this item involves describing the physical sensation of the vestment’s light tendrils tightening or loosening across the torso in response to the social and environmental stress of the group.
Urban Environments
- In crowded marketplaces or high-end districts, the vestment serves as a tool of social detection and subtle crowd control.
- Defense (The Forsaken Bastion): When navigating a dark alleyway or a tense diplomatic meeting, the player roleplays a sudden, sharp hum vibrating from the central glass orb against their chest. The wearer describes the sensation of the ozone scent intensifying as the vestment warns of a hidden betrayer in the crowd. Allies standing near the wearer feel a wave of inexplicable calm and reassurance, as the vest’s aura of “community comfort” counteracts the fear of an ambush.
- Offense (Interpretation of the Forsaken): During a confrontation with a corrupt official, the wearer roleplays entering a state of deep concentration. The iridescent threads of the vestment pulse a slow, rhythmic emerald green as the wearer stares through the central orb to project a holographic vision of the official’s past abandonment. The user delivers their social strike by speaking a blunt, uncomfortable truth revealed by the vision, shattering the target’s composure and forcing them into a state of stunned silence as the urban crowd looks on in secondhand embarrassment.
Wilderness and Forest Environments
- In the Verdant Expanse or mist-shrouded labyrinths, the vestment focuses on environmental survival and group preservation.
- Defense (Adaptive Survival): While trekking through a toxic blight or a sudden magical storm, the wearer roleplays the vestment’s fabric shifting its texture to become airtight and temperature-regulated. The player describes the glowing sapphire threads weaving together to form a micro-climate around their body. When an ally is struck by a falling branch or a predator’s claw, the wearer roleplays their light tendrils lashing out to weave a barrier around the friend, the user wincing as they feel the impact redistributed through the vestment’s matrix.
- Offense (Guiding Star Nova): If the party is surrounded by predators in the pitch-black forest, the user roleplays shouting the phrase of Lyra. The central orb erupts into a blinding silver Nova. The player describes the silver light catching the eyes of hidden beasts and revealing the “social friction” of the pack, allowing the party to identify the alpha and strike with pinpoint accuracy while the predators are confused by the sudden celestial brilliance.
Unsafe and Deathly Areas
- In high-danger zones like the Shattered Isles or the Abyssal Chasm, where survival is measured in split seconds and every strike hits, the vestment’s collective endurance is the only thing preventing total party dispersal.
- Defense (Synergic Displacement and Barrier Redistribution): In a deathly area where attacks are guaranteed to land, the wearer roleplays a state of frantic, synergistic unity. As a shadow lord strikes at a vulnerable teammate, the wearer describes the light tendrils of the vestment expanding in a massive, shimmering emerald lattice. The player roleplays the physical strain of the vestment absorbing 2d6 of the hit, the fabric glowing with an intensified light that reflects the hive’s collective decision to stand firm. The user roleplays the consensus redistribution, describing how the entire party feels a momentary tingle as the damage is shared across the magical matrix.
- Offense (Nova Exposure): Against powerful entities in these dark zones, the user roleplays using the Guiding Star Nova not just for light, but as a tactical beacon. The player describes the iridescent threads pulsing with a violent, emerald-and-blue energy that burns away the shadows of the Abyssal Chasm. This forces invisible or shifting enemies into a static state of visibility, stripping away their environmental advantage. The wearer roleplays the hive-mind’s approval, as the pulse of the vestment dictates the rhythm of the party’s counter-attack, turning a desperate defense into a unified offensive surge.

Perception of Activation:
Visual Perception (Sight)
- User’s Perspective: The central celestial glass orb embedded in the solar plexus flares with a blinding, pure silver radiance that washes over the immediate area. The deep midnight blue silk of the vestment becomes a canvas for shifting, rapid movement as the emerald and sapphire light tendrils awaken, pulsing violently outward to form a complex, shimmering holographic lattice of geometric barriers in the air.
- Observer’s Perspective: The wearer becomes a beacon of intense, cool light. The dark fabric seems to dissolve into a network of glowing, iridescent veins that extend outward, wrapping the wearer and nearby allies in a translucent, protective veil of shifting blue and green energy.
- Positives: The intense illumination completely obliterates natural and magical darkness, perfectly outlining hidden traps, invisible entities, and structural details within the immediate radius while providing a highly visible rallying point for allies.
- Negatives: The brilliant flare acts as an unavoidable signal to every hostile entity in the vicinity, completely ruining any possibility of stealth or concealment, and the intricate, shifting geometric patterns of the barrier can cause severe visual clutter that obscures fine details at a distance.
Auditory Perception (Sound)
- User’s Perspective: A sudden, resonant hum fills the ears, sounding like a thousand overlapping, whispering voices speaking in perfect unison. This sound of the hive consensus is underscored by a soothing, continuous chime that rings with the clarity of a struck crystal, vibrating directly through the chest cavity.
- Observer’s Perspective: Those standing near the wearer hear a faint, harmonious vibration, resembling a choir humming a single, sustained chord, accompanied by the sharp, crackling sound of displaced magical energy as the light tendrils snap into defensive formations.
- Positives: The unified humming creates a localized acoustic dampening field that drowns out the chaotic, distracting noises of combat or environmental hazards, providing a calming auditory anchor that promotes extreme mental focus.
- Negatives: The internal resonance and the crackling of the energy barriers effectively deafen the user to subtle, quiet sounds, making it exceptionally difficult to hear whispered communications, the drawing of a bowstring, or the approach of stealthy enemies outside the immediate aura.
Tactile Perception (Touch)
- User’s Perspective: A wave of sudden, comforting warmth radiates outward from the central orb, spreading across the entire torso. Simultaneously, the silk threads physically contract and tighten around the body, mimicking the pressure of a deep-sea dive, instantly followed by a tingling, numbing sensation as kinetic force is magically redistributed across the expanded energy lattice.
- Observer’s Perspective: Anyone physically touching the projected barrier or the vestment itself encounters a smooth, frictionless repelling force. It feels akin to pressing a hand against a highly dense, warm magnetic field that firmly pushes back against applied pressure.
- Positives: The immediate physical warmth perfectly regulates core body temperature in freezing conditions, while the tight, contracting silk acts as a physical brace that dampens the agonizing shock of blunt force trauma or concussive blasts.
- Negatives: The sudden constriction of the fabric can cause a momentary feeling of breathlessness or claustrophobia, and the numbing effect of the redistributed force temporarily dulls the user’s tactile sensitivity, making delicate physical maneuvers difficult.
Olfactory Perception (Smell)
- User’s Perspective: The nasal passages are flooded with the sharp, crisp, and metallic scent of highly charged ozone, which is immediately followed by the dense, fresh, and floral aroma of rain-washed stone and blooming wildflowers.
- Observer’s Perspective: Observers catch a sudden, overpowering waft of a violent storm passing over a spring meadow. This scent rapidly expands from the wearer, completely overriding and neutralizing the natural smells of the immediate environment.
- Positives: The overwhelming, fresh scent acts as a powerful olfactory shield, completely neutralizing foul stenches, airborne toxins, and nauseating environmental odors that would otherwise incapacitate the wearer or their allies.
- Negatives: The intense sharpness of the ozone can irritate the sinuses and cause temporary anosmia, preventing the user and nearby allies from detecting subtle, dangerous environmental scents such as leaking gas, venom, or burning material.
Gustatory Perception (Taste)
- User’s Perspective: A phantom flavor washes over the tongue, tasting like pure, freezing spring water mixed with the distinct, metallic tang of raw copper and charged static electricity.
- Observer’s Perspective: Observers do not experience a direct taste, though the heavy ionization of the air within the protective aura may leave a dry, metallic static sensation in the mouths of those breathing heavily nearby.
- Positives: The jarring, metallic shock to the palate acts as a severe sensory reset, instantly clearing mental fog and dispelling magical lethargy or sleep-inducing effects through sheer sensory surprise.
- Negatives: The lingering taste of copper and static heavily distorts the flavor profile of the mouth, making the consumption of mundane rations, healing draughts, or restorative potions highly unpleasant and metallic for a significant duration after activation.
Extra-Sensory Perception (Hive-Mind Consensus Integration)
- User’s Perspective: An overwhelming influx of collective emotional support and shared endurance floods the consciousness. The user instantly senses the exact spatial locations, physical conditions, and emotional states of all allies within the vestment’s radius, feeling their combined will to survive as a tangible, physical weight anchoring the mind.
- Observer’s Perspective: Bonded allies within the aura feel a sudden, profound lifting of isolation and fear, experiencing a wave of unexplainable courage. Hostile entities pressing against the barrier feel a wall of unified, intimidating presence pushing aggressively against their psyche, triggering feelings of severe inadequacy and isolation.
- Positives: Generates absolute tactical and emotional unity among the group, entirely erasing feelings of abandonment, terror, or despair, and allowing the wearer to perfectly coordinate defensive maneuvers without needing to speak a single word.
- Negatives: The massive flood of shared emotions and physical sensations from multiple allies can be mentally exhausting, causing the user to momentarily lose their individual sense of self and potentially suffer sympathetic psychological stress if multiple allies are experiencing extreme agony simultaneously.
Extra-Sensory Perception (Temporal Dislocation and Insight)
- User’s Perspective: The user perceives a brief, overlapping echo of the immediate past and highly probable near-futures. Shadows of incoming attacks trail behind the actual weapons, and the trajectory of physical blows is highlighted by faint, glowing lines of temporal probability, allowing the user to anticipate the exact point of impact milliseconds before it occurs.
- Observer’s Perspective: Individuals with magical sensitivity observe a slight, nauseating stutter in the flow of time immediately surrounding the wearer. The wearer appears to react to threats an fraction of a second before the threat actually manifests, moving with an eerie, disconnected precognition.
- Positives: Grants unparalleled predictive defensive capabilities, allowing the wearer to perfectly position the vestment’s barriers to intercept lethal blows or completely avoid environmental hazards based on glimpses of immediate future outcomes.
- Negatives: Processing multiple overlapping timelines causes severe vertigo and spatial disorientation. Focusing too deeply on the shifting probabilities of the future rather than the physical reality of the present can cause the user to freeze in indecision, overwhelmed by the sheer volume of potential catastrophic outcomes.
Recipe: Forging the Celestial Matrix Vestment 4022
Items Merged
- Astrology and Divination Orb of the Forsaken Star
- Intelligent Hive Tool 8192 of Resilience Weaver
- Arcane Weave Fabrics
Additional Materials Needed
- Three vials of Rift-Condensed Mana, harvested during the peak of a highly volatile magical storm, required to break down the physical boundaries of the individual items.
- One spool of pure starlight thread, spun by celestial mystics, necessary to physically anchor the ethereal light tendrils to the mundane fabric.
- A pinch of crushed, ancient coral from a deep-sea hive sanctuary, used to trick the hive-mind tool into accepting a new physical matrix.
- One flask of purified lunar water to temper the heat of the fusion process and preserve the delicate silk of the arcane weave.
Tools Required
- A high-tension Arcane Loom, reinforced with elemental earth, capable of holding the physical fabric and the magical light tendrils perfectly taut simultaneously.
- An Alchemical Pressure Crucible large enough to contain the woven garment, designed to simulate the crushing depths of a subterranean rift.
- Weaving needles meticulously carved from cold meteoric iron, as mundane metals will instantly melt upon contact with the active hive tool and the celestial orb.
- A Resonance Tuning Crystal, calibrated to the exact emotional frequency of abandonment and collective hive survival, needed to synchronize the disparate magics.
Skill Requirements
- Master Arcane Tailoring: Essential for physically manipulating the mana-infused threads and silk without disrupting their inherent self-mending properties.
- Advanced Celestial Alchemy: Required to handle the Astrology and Divination Orb and the starlight thread without causing a localized temporal or gravitational collapse.
- Expert Hive-Mind Synergies: Necessary to communicate with the semi-sentient, consensus-driven intelligence of the Resilience Weaver and coax it into a new physical shape.
Crafting Steps
- The artisan must begin by submerging the three yards of Arcane Weave Fabrics in the purified lunar water, allowing the silk and wool blend to become fully saturated and highly receptive to magical transmutation.
- The wet fabric is then stretched across the high-tension Arcane Loom. The artisan carefully measures and cuts the material to form the base shape of a sleeveless, high-collared vest, ensuring the garment will perfectly contour to a single humanoid torso slot.
- The artisan places the Astrology and Divination Orb of the Forsaken Star directly into the center of the chest piece. Using the meteoric iron needles and the starlight thread, the orb is tightly sewn into the fabric, acting as the heavy, gravitational anchor for the entire project.
- The Intelligent Hive Tool 8192 of Resilience Weaver is activated, causing its central mass to open and project its iridescent blue and green light tendrils.
- The artisan must sprinkle the crushed ancient coral over the tool to calm its defensive protocols, then rapidly use the meteoric needles to catch the physical light tendrils and weave them directly into the warp and weft of the wet Arcane Weave Fabric, connecting each tendril directly to the surface of the celestial glass orb.
- This process requires extreme precision; the light tendrils must entirely replace the standard threading of the vest, converting the garment into a living lattice of hive-energy and starlight.
- Once the weaving is complete, the items are fundamentally entangled but not yet a single object. The artisan removes the heavy, glowing vest from the loom and places it carefully into the Alchemical Pressure Crucible.
- The three vials of Rift-Condensed Mana are poured directly over the central orb. The crucible is immediately sealed tight, and the internal pressure is increased to replicate the crushing force of a deep-sea trench.
- The artisan strikes the Resonance Tuning Crystal, pressing it against the outside of the crucible. The crystal projects the emotional frequencies of isolation and collective unity into the pressurized chamber, forcing the magic of the forsaken star to violently reach out and bond with the hive-mind consensus.
- The intense pressure, combined with the condensed mana and the emotional resonance, causes a total molecular breakdown of the distinct items. The central mass of the hive tool, the loose threads of the fabric, and the boundaries of the glass orb melt into each other.
- The crucible is left sealed for an entire night cycle under direct starlight. When opened at dawn, the individual items have been completely eradicated, leaving behind the Celestial Matrix Vestment 4022 as a single, indivisible physical object that occupies exactly one torso slot and pulses with a unified, shimmering matrix of protective energy.
Chest-Cover of Star and Many-Minds 4022
It is spoken by the dust-mouths of the old hollow stones that in the times of the heavy wet-clouds, when the land was a maze of biting-fogs, there walked the People of the Many-Voices-Inside-One-Head. These people were not as one man, but as a swarm of thinking-insects wearing the skin of a man. They carried with them the Thinking Bug-Tool 8192, which was a machine of light-roots that made walls out of thin air to share the hurt of the world.
In this time of the biting-fogs, the magic of the earth was sick. The air ate the flesh and rusted the mind. The People of the Many-Voices-Inside-One-Head were walking to find a safe dry-place. In their walking, they found the broken walking-path of a dead smooth-talker. On this broken path was a box, and in the box was the Cloth of the Sky-Forge. This cloth was the color of the up-water when the sun hides, and it fixed its own tears, and it washed its own dirt. The People wrapped this cloth around their cold shoulders to stop the biting-fogs from eating their bug-flesh.
They walked more deep into the hollow stones. Here, they found the room of the sky-watcher who had died of the great loneliness. In the center of the room of the sky-watcher was the Round Glass of the Star That Was Thrown Away. This round glass cried invisible tears. It spoke directly into the brain with the voice of a young one left in the dark woods. The People of the Many-Voices-Inside-One-Head felt the sadness of the round glass, because a swarm knows the pain of a single insect that has lost the hive. They picked up the round glass and held it to their chest.
Suddenly, the biting-fogs grew thick like bad milk. Out of the bad milk came the Teeth-Shadows. The Teeth-Shadows were monsters of the hungry-magic. They hated the light and they hated the mind-voices. The Teeth-Shadows rushed forward with mouths made of sharp winds. The People of the Many-Voices-Inside-One-Head tried to use the Thinking Bug-Tool 8192 to build the light-root walls, but the tool was tired, and the Teeth-Shadows bit through the walls. The cloth of the sky-forge was strong, but it could not stop the sharp winds from freezing the soul.
The sky above the hollow stones cracked open like a dropped egg. A storm of angry-air-fire, which is the magic-lightning, poured down into the room of the sky-watcher. The People of the Many-Voices-Inside-One-Head knew they would be cooked into ash. They held the Round Glass of the Star That Was Thrown Away very tight to their chest. They wrapped the Cloth of the Sky-Forge tight around their body. They commanded the Thinking Bug-Tool 8192 to push all of its light-roots into the cloth to hold everything together.
The angry-air-fire struck them. The heat was like the sun falling on the face. But the fire did not make ash. The deep sadness of the round glass, the fixing-magic of the cloth, and the hurt-sharing of the bug-tool drank the angry-air-fire. The materials screamed the scream of melting metal and boiling silk. The round glass did not shatter; it sank into the cloth. The bug-tool did not break; it became the glowing green and blue veins of the cloth. The cloth did not burn; it became the heavy, humming armor of the chest.
When the angry-air-fire stopped, there were not three things anymore. There was only one single thing. It was a shirt without arm-tubes. It was the Celestial Matrix Vestment 4022. It sat upon the torso of the People of the Many-Voices-Inside-One-Head, humming the song of the hive and smelling of the sky-water and the rock-flowers.
The Teeth-Shadows attacked again, biting the chest of the People. But the shirt without arm-tubes awoke. The light-roots inside the fabric squeezed tight. The bite of the Teeth-Shadow was shared across the whole swarm through the magic of the green and blue veins. The terrible bite became only a small, polite tickle.
Then, the round glass in the center of the chest opened its magic eye. It remembered the great loneliness of being thrown away, and it threw that loneliness outward. It erupted with a silver light that was so bright it made the eyeballs ache. The silver light hit the Teeth-Shadows. The light forced the monsters to remember all the times they had dropped their food or tripped in front of their friends. The Teeth-Shadows were overcome with the great sickness of the stomach-awkwardness. They felt too much of the cringe-shame to continue the biting. They dropped their sharp wind-weapons and ran away into the bad milk fog, hiding their faces.
The People of the Many-Voices-Inside-One-Head walked out of the hollow stones. They did not need to be afraid of the biting-fogs, because the shirt without arm-tubes kept them warm and fixed their broken parts. They did not need to be afraid of the ambushes, because the round glass vibrated to tell them when bad men were hiding. They walked across the whole land, and the shirt hummed the song of never being alone, because the thrown-away star had finally found a hive that would wear it forever.
The Moral of the Story: The solitary stick snaps under the hoof of the angry mountain beast, but the bundle of sticks that is sewn together with the weeping star-glass and the self-washing silk will not only break the hoof of the beast, but will also shine a bright light to make the beast feel very embarrassed about its bad choices.
