From: Lineage 317 of the Dream Tusked Nga Tara
Slot: Ankle Gauntlets (pair)
Appearance & Lore
Flexible brass-hinged cuffs inlaid with blooming lily motifs; tiny vents exhale cool mist as wearer moves. Inspired by floating dock workers of Dreamtide who must keep footing on slick platforms.
Function
- Boosts balance and climbing; +Athletics on unstable, wet, or shifting ground.
- Can exude thin water jets to “anchor” footing or briefly propel leaps (short controlled hops across broken decks, swampy roots).
Positives / Negatives
- Excellent for crossing slick vines, decks, or coral
- Short burst of speed/leap
– Steam reservoir limited; two leaps before cool-down
Lore
Legends say these clever ankle gauntlets were first born in the floating wharves of Dreamtide, where planks sway and fog rolls thick, and dock crews must leap between shifting barges while hauling crates of enchanted water. Master artificer Sera-Vuun, once a humble rope runner, forged the earliest pair from scrap brass and mist-harvesting reeds after a near-fatal fall into a ley-flooded canal. The gauntlets quickly became iconic among water-born laborers and river sentries—symbols of balance, resilience, and ingenuity. Over generations, the Mist-Bloom design was refined: brass hinges made lighter, mist vents enchanted to draw moisture from air or damp timber, and the bloom patterns etched to honor Yirra’s dream of safe passage. While now prized by scouts and hunters alike, these gauntlets still carry the scent of the docks—salt, steam, and survival.
Tier-1 Values
- Ability Modifiers: +1 Dexterity, +1 Strength
- Speed Adjustment: +5 ft to base movement when on wet or unstable terrain
- Skill Gain: +2 bonus to Athletics (balance, climbing, controlled leaps); advantage or equivalent on checks to remain upright on slick, shifting, or water-covered surfaces
Passive Magics
- Dreamtide Surefoot: Subtle hydromantic mist stabilizes each step; wearer treats difficult wet ground as normal terrain.
- Slip-Sense: Fine humidity and vibration detection through soles; grants instinctive warning just before sliding or losing footing.
Activatable Magics
- Mist Anchor (2/day): As a quick action, vents spray condensed dream-mist to hold the user steady; advantage/bonus to resist forced movement or shoving for 1 round.
- Bloom Leap (2/day, shared pool): Blast of cool steam underfoot propels wearer 10–15 ft horizontally or 5 ft vertically; can cross gaps, tangled vines, or shifting docks. Cooldown after both uses until gauntlets condense new steam (about one hour).

Shops and Market Pathways for Mist-Bloom Ankle Gauntlets-309
Dreamtide Dockwrights’ Guild Hall
In the floating city of Dreamtide, the Dockwrights’ Guild Hall is the heart of utilitarian steam-gear. Here, artisans who once worked the very decks that inspired the gauntlets craft and sell fresh models directly to sailors, canal guards, and river scouts. Buyers often place orders after proving their skill in balance tests across wet planks. Cost typically ranges from 150 to 220 gold for new, guild-certified pairs, depending on brass quality and mist reservoir size.
Vara-Sul Industrial Quarter Outfitter
The capital’s industrial quarter houses large-scale outfitters that trade in practical gear for urban adventurers and cargo runners. These shops import Mist-Bloom models from Dreamtide and other coastal foundries, sometimes customizing finishes or bloom etching to match family crests or company sigils. A polished, status-conscious pair here runs 180–250 gold; simpler workman’s versions about 140–160 gold.
Southflow Dominion Traveler’s Exchange
Caravans and river traders in the fertile southern plains pass through the Traveler’s Exchange, where refurbished gauntlets are common. These are second-hand but carefully maintained by tinkerers who clean and refill steam reservoirs. Prices range from 90–140 gold for well-used pairs, often bundled with repair pouches and mist-oil.
Coralis Dominion Coral Armories
On the coral coasts, Mist-Bloom gauntlets are adapted for undersea work. Coral Armories infuse them with extra hydromantic seals to resist saltwater and deep pressure. Such versions, reinforced with coral resin and water-tight seals, cost 250–320 gold and are bought mainly by sea harvesters and marine scouts.
Melodious Expanse Artisan Loft
Highland craftsmen turn Mist-Bloom gauntlets into collector’s pieces, with ornate lily etching and rare alloys. Though still functional, these are prestige wear for explorers or performers who dance across aerial platforms. Their price can climb to 300–400 gold, especially when inscribed with Ngara-Vo ceremonial runes.
Riverfront Gray Market Stalls
Smaller river towns and jungle clearings have informal stalls where scavenged or “fallen off the airship” pairs are sold. These gauntlets may have unstable steam vents or untested glyphs but can be found for 60–90 gold. Buyers often test them on site to avoid faulty anchors.
Acquisition Practices
- Barter is common in jungle and rural trade stops; rare herbs, alchemical water, or monster hides might offset coin cost.
- Urban centers prefer coinage and guild seals; registered guild-crafted gauntlets carry proof-of-safety glyphs.
- Repair contracts are offered alongside new sales; dream-water condensers and mist capsules are sold as refills.
In Saṃsāra’s vibrant trade network, Mist-Bloom Ankle Gauntlets remain accessible to practical workers and prized by explorers, with cost scaling from affordable refurbished sets to masterwork art-pieces linked to Dreamtide’s heritage.
Roleplay Use of Mist-Bloom Ankle Gauntlets-309
Jungle & Wetlands
Deep within Aboriginal’s dense rain jungles and flooded mangroves, the gauntlets become a survival lifeline. When a player-avatar is creeping across moss-slick logs or vine-choked ruins, the Dreamtide Surefoot passive silently adjusts their stance, turning treacherous footing into secure ground. The Slip-Sense tingling up their calves is an early warning just before a hidden predator lunges or the ground crumbles into swamp. Offensively, the Bloom Leap propels them from one jutting root to another, flanking monsters or vaulting over sudden sinkholes. During ambushes, Mist Anchor can be triggered to plant feet and withstand a charging beast’s impact or avoid being swept into fast-moving jungle rivers.
Urban Megacities (Docks, Airship Yards, Steam Streets)
In the thrumming port districts of Dreamtide or Vara-Sul, players roleplay as agile rooftop couriers or dock guards darting between shifting barges and mechanical cranes. The gauntlets let them chase thieves across steam-slick rooftops, vault stacked cargo, or anchor to avoid being pushed into canals by rival gangs. In defense, the Mist Anchor counters crowd surges or magical shove effects in narrow streets. Offensively, combining Bloom Leap with polearm or whip strikes creates cinematic takedowns — bounding over crates to sweep an enemy’s legs or close distance on a fleeing smuggler.
Caves & Subterranean Pools
Underground explorers navigating limestone caverns or slick aquifer tunnels use the gauntlets to cling to wet ledges and leap across flooded chambers. In defense, Slip-Sense keeps them from plunging into deep water or collapsing bridges. In combat against subterranean predators, they can anchor mid-slope to resist tail sweeps or tremors, while Bloom Leap grants sudden height advantage to escape constricting creatures or trap chokepoints.
Coastal Cliffs & Floating Platforms
In windy high docks or floating outposts, the gauntlets shine as anti-fall gear. Roleplay often involves clinging to swaying platforms during violent storms or aerial attacks. Mist Anchor lets the user survive monster gusts or grappling attempts from sea-serpents. Offensively, Bloom Leap can propel avatars onto enemy decks during ship boarding actions or across wave-lashed gaps to engage raiders quickly.
Battlefield & Skirmish Use
When skirmishing on mixed terrain — mud, rubble, magical fog — the gauntlets let avatars dart where others stumble. Defensively, each triggered Mist Anchor feels like planting roots mid-chaos, shrugging off knockback or charges. Offensively, Bloom Leap creates sudden repositioning — diving behind an enemy line, vaulting over barricades, or springing onto siege engines.
Psychological & Sensory Play
Because the gauntlets vent cool mist with each activation, roleplay can emphasize sudden steam bursts and drifting fog at ankle height — disorienting foes or impressing allies. In tense moments, characters might press one palm to a gauntlet, letting moisture bead before a fight, signaling readiness. Conversely, the hiss and bloom of mist might betray stealth if triggered carelessly, creating tension for players balancing safety and surprise.
Overall
In any environment, the Mist-Bloom Ankle Gauntlets transform the wearer’s movement from mundane to fluid and adaptive. They defend by refusing terrain disadvantage and breaking control effects, and they attack by letting the avatar become unpredictable — vaulting, flanking, and closing gaps with watery grace.

Perception of Activation:
User’s Perspective
A cool, sharp mist swirls instantly around the ankles, like stepping into the breath of a river at dawn. The gauntlets tighten slightly, brass hinges humming with low resonance. Each step feels weightless and secure, as if the surface beneath flexes to meet the foot. A faint tingle rises through the legs to the core, an intuitive map of traction and angles forming in the mind. Sounds sharpen—splashes, drips, and the faint creak of distant boards seem clearer. The inner ear senses subtle adjustments; balance feels preternaturally precise. Extrasensory awareness blooms—threads of moisture in the air glow in the “Mind’s Eye,” showing safe footholds and hinting at weak spots where boards might give way.
Observer’s Perspective
Thin ribbons of cool vapor spill from the lily vents with each step, curling around the user’s legs in elegant coils. The wearer moves suddenly more sure-footed, weight shifting with feline precision, able to halt mid-slip or spring forward in controlled arcs. Surfaces seem to slick less beneath them; water beads away. A low, rhythmic hiss echoes with each burst of steam propulsion. Occasionally, a ghostly shimmer like a watery halo ripples just above the ground where their feet land.
Positives
- Dramatic boost in stability and traction even on treacherous surfaces.
- Heightened sensory feedback, reducing risk of falls or missteps.
- Visual and auditory cues for companions to trust the wearer’s footing and follow safely.
- Small leaps and agile maneuvers feel effortless, opening new paths or escape routes.
Negatives
- Sudden activation produces an audible hiss and brief mist cloud, potentially giving away stealth.
- Intense sensory flood can be disorienting if triggered mid-combat without focus.
- Overuse before cooldown may cause calf ache and sluggishness, like lactic burn after sprinting.
- In arid or magic-poor areas, the mist may falter, creating a jarring stumble if relied upon.
Crafting Recipe: Dreamtide Mist-Bloom Ankle Gauntlets-309
Materials Needed
- Brass Hinges & Bands (2 sets): Flexible, high-quality brass strips forged for articulated movement.
- Steam Lily Petals (4–6 dried & treated): Magical flora gathered from Dreampool shallows to channel moisture and dream resonance.
- Vo-Run Glyph Plates (small, 2 per cuff): Thin etched plates of coral or shell infused with hydromantic ink.
- Mist Reservoir Core (1 pair): Tiny enchanted glass canisters designed to condense and store moisture.
- Dream-Water Vial (1): Purified Dreampool water for initial attunement and reservoir priming.
- Soft Treated Leather (for inner lining): Comfortable, non-chafing strap leather cured in river oils.
- Thread of Condensed Fog (1 spool): Rare alchemic thread spun from mist and bound with runic wax for sealing seams.
Tools Required
- Arcane Leatherworking Bench with steam-press clamps.
- Precision Brass Articulation Forge with fine hinge molds.
- Glyph Engraving Stylus for Vo-Run carving.
- Hydromancer’s Condenser (for mist infusion into reservoir).
- Attunement Circle or small Dreampool for magical imprinting.
Skill Requirements
- Leatherworking & Metal Fitting: Intermediate—must shape and articulate brass frames while preserving flexibility.
- Hydromantic Enchantment: Basic to intermediate—binds moisture-sensing runes and safe propulsion bursts.
- Glyph Crafting in Vo-Run: Competent—accuracy of symbols crucial for mist response and balance amplification.
- Steamcraft Assembly: Understanding of pressure, vent control, and reservoir cooldown timing.
Crafting Steps
- Shape the Frame:
Forge the brass into articulated bands sized to the wearer’s ankles, hinge points polished smooth for silent movement. - Prepare the Leather Base:
Cut and steam-cure treated leather, soaking briefly in Dreampool oils for water resilience and comfort. Stitch the leather to the brass frame with Thread of Condensed Fog, sealing seams so no vapor escapes uncontrolled. - Engrave and Set Glyph Plates:
Use the Glyph Engraving Stylus to inscribe the Vo-Run symbols of “balance,” “anchoring,” and “safe passage.” Embed the glyph plates into recessed sockets on each cuff and secure with mist-thread binding. - Install Mist Reservoirs:
Mount the enchanted glass cores within the brass housing. Use the Hydromancer’s Condenser to prime them with Dream-Water, carefully regulating pressure to avoid overcharging. - Infuse Magical Resonance:
Place the nearly finished gauntlets into an Attunement Circle or Dreampool. Speak the Vo-Kara phrase for “surefoot” while channeling mild hydromantic energy, allowing mist channels to link with the glyph plates. - Pressure & Balance Calibration:
Test the gauntlets on damp wood or slick stone. Adjust vent screws to fine-tune mist release and propulsion thrust, ensuring safe but effective push for leaps. - Final Sealing & Blessing:
Seal inner edges with additional fog-thread and drip Dream-Water across lily motifs to “wake” the bloom sigil. Experienced crafters whisper a traditional dock-worker’s chant to bind good fortune and safe footing.
The result is a fully functional pair of Mist-Bloom Ankle Gauntlets-309, ready for adventurous traversal across jungles, docks, and shifting dream-wrought landscapes.
Song of First Mist-Bloom
Long ago, before steam sang and brass shone, there was place now called Dreamtide but then nameless. Waters rose and fell with no rule, docks were planks thrown on tide, and feet slid into deep dark often. People there feared stepping; many fall and gone.
One was called Ka’uru, great worker of river wood, said to walk on slime like dry clay. He alone carry goods when storms hit, trunk high, tusks bright. He see mothers cry for sons swept, merchants lose wares to hungry sea. Ka’uru thought, no more slip, no more drown.
He walk deep into fog that hides Dreampool of Yirra. Fog so thick, words cut and break, time twist. He kneel by water and speak words not known now, only fragments: “Surefoot dream… hold the line… water obey.” Yirra listen maybe, or maybe river just pity. Lily bloom rose from mist, shining pale blue. Ka’uru take lily careful, wrap in leather from river beast, bind with fog thread, brass from mountain melt, and glyph scratch—crooked and rough but strong.
He put blooms at ankle, and mist come gentle, hold him when dock sway, push him when leap from board to board. People saw and say “dock-walker,” “dream-stepper.” He teach few but speak strange, broken, half from before tongue born. Still they learn. Many made bloom cuffs from brass and lily.
One day great surge come, black tide and monster fins. Ka’uru stand first on slick wood, alone while all ran. He stomp, mist roar, push waves aside, jump to cut anchor ropes, free ships to drift safe. But tide pull him under. Only blooms float back, glowing soft.
Those who found them say blooms still whisper: “hold fast, move light, dream water carry.” They hung them in shrine, and new crafters came, better glyphs, brighter brass. Mist-Bloom Ankle Gauntlets born from that night, remade and remade till now.
Moral of the story: Walk with the water, not against; seek balance where footing fails, and courage may save many though one be lost.
