Red Deck: Failure Cards
Card 1: “Curse of Unluck”
Effect:
For the next three turns, every die rolled by you or for you by someone else must be re-rolled, and the lower of the two results is used.
Roleplay Emphasis:
As you swing your weapon and miss, a dark cloud seems to envelop you. You sense a chill run down your spine, as if the very fabric of Saṃsāra has turned against you. Shadows seem to laugh, and you feel an uncanny wave of misfortune wash over you. You have a hard time focusing and feel as though you’ve been cursed.
Card 2: “Siphon Surge”
Effect:
A random ally within 30 feet of you loses 25% of their current magic flow, transferring it to the closest enemy.
Roleplay Emphasis:
Your misstep creates a magical backlash that disrupts the ambient magic around you. Arcane energy surges outward, slipping past your allies and into your enemies. One of your friends feels noticeably drained, as their magic flow weakens. Nearby, an enemy smirks as they absorb this newfound energy, growing stronger and more potent in their magical abilities.
Card 3: “Armor Crumble”
Effect:
Your armor or the armor of an ally within 20 feet suffers a temporary downgrade. Its defensive properties are halved for the next two turns.
Roleplay Emphasis:
The impact of your failed attack reverberates through the magical ether, affecting the durability of the gear around you. Whether it’s your armor or that of an ally, the gear seems to weaken and almost crumble, becoming less effective in warding off attacks. The wearer feels more vulnerable and exposed, as if the armor has temporarily lost its enchanted qualities.
Green Deck: Crit Cards
Card 1: “Blessing of Precision”
Effect:
For your next attack, you automatically hit and deal maximum damage.
Roleplay Emphasis:
As your weapon makes contact with the enemy, a radiant energy emanates from the point of impact. The world around you slows down for a brief moment, and you find your senses heightened. Your next attack feels as though guided by the cosmos itself, destined to strike true and inflict devastating damage.
Card 2: “Ward of Friendship”
Effect:
Choose an ally within 30 feet. For the next three turns, any damage they would receive is halved.
Roleplay Emphasis:
A verdant light spirals out from you, enveloping a friend in a protective aura. They feel a sense of security and empowerment, as though an invisible shield made of pure magic is guarding them. Their armor seems stronger, their movements more agile. You’ve bestowed upon them a mystical ward that lessens the blows they’ll receive.
Card 3: “Mana Infusion”
Effect:
A random ally gains 25% additional magic flow for the next two turns.
Roleplay Emphasis:
Your critical hit releases a burst of magical energy that flows into one of your allies. They feel invigorated and strengthened, their magic circuits buzzing with extra power. This extra magic flow allows them to cast spells or use abilities with newfound potency, enabling them to turn the tide in your favor.
Each of these cards serves to make the encounters in Saṃsāra more dynamic, offering both risk and reward in combat. These unexpected twists provide opportunities for roleplaying, adding another layer of complexity and excitement to the experience.
