Red Deck: “Failure” Cards
1. Curse of Avarice
Effect: A dark cloud of malevolent energy focuses on an ally within 25 feet, subduing their instinctual benevolence and making them less supportive.
The affected ally loses the ability to grant any bonuses or beneficial effects to others for the next round.
Roleplay Element: Overcome by a sudden sense of selfishness, the ally becomes less willing to help their teammates and more focused on their own interests.
2. Enemy’s Compassion
Effect: An enemy within 35 feet gains a fleeting sense of altruism, invigorated by benevolent magic.
The enemy heals 1d4 points of health.
Roleplay Element: For a moment, the enemy experiences an unusual surge of good will and compassion, which mystically translates into a restoration of its own vitality.
3. Generosity’s Downfall
Effect: Your failed attack renders an item in your inventory unusable due to an unintended act of over-benevolence.
Choose one consumable item (like a potion). It is immediately used on an enemy instead of an ally.
Roleplay Element: Your intentions to aid your team go awry as the item, spurred by a misguided sense of benevolence, finds its way to the wrong hands, benefiting the enemy instead.
Green Deck: “Crit” Cards
1. Empathy Surge
Effect: Your successful attack sends a wave of benevolence through your team.
All allies within 20 feet gain a +1 to their next healing spell or action.
Roleplay Element: The ripple effect of your benevolent action amplifies the nurturing instincts of your allies, making their healing abilities more effective for a short time.
2. Kindness Disarms
Effect: Your critical hit imbues your weapon with a compassionate energy.
The next enemy you hit within the next round receives a -2 penalty to its next attack roll.
Roleplay Element: Your weapon momentarily radiates a palpable sense of benevolence, making your opponent less willing to retaliate with full force.
3. Gift of Sharing
Effect: A warm aura emanates from you, promoting benevolence among your teammates.
One ally within 30 feet can immediately use one of their consumable items without using an action.
Roleplay Element: The atmosphere around you is so imbued with a spirit of giving that it compels one ally to freely share their resources, making use of a beneficial item spontaneously.
In each of these cards, the emphasis on benevolence manifests in various forms, affecting both the tactical and the narrative elements of the game. Once the effects have been noted for completion, each card should be returned to the bottom of its respective deck.
