Lore: Forged during the late consolidation of the high-tier metropolitan academies of Saṃsāra, this singular physical artifact was manifested by transmuting five foundational Tier 1 instruments into an absolute sovereign matrix. The kinetic grounding of the Azure Spire’s volcanic flax, the social intelligence of the port courtesans’ gossamer weave, the balance-weaving of the dual-elemental sibling wizards, the strike dynamics of the Eastern Mountain elementalists, and the biocenotic reef-vitality of the Oatea sea-shamans were collapsed into a unified focus. The result is a stabilizing core capable of bridging biological ecosystems, psychic whispers, kinetic surges, and cosmic balance through a single physical vessel.
Description: A five-ply braided waist cincture woven from metallic olive-green lightning-reed strands, pale volcanic flax, and gossamer shadow-silk ribbons that catch ambient light with an iridescent, liquid moonlit shimmer. The cincture is secured at the center of the abdomen by a hollowed mother-of-pearl shell ring mounted into an obsidian pupil clasp, framing a pulsating black crystal node inlaid with living, bioluminescent sea-foam coral. Four accordion-folded vellum slips inked with void-consumption fractals and balance runes hang from the hips alongside four dangling brass charms that chime in soft, harmonic undertones. At the right hip, the woven braid integrates a narrow, wyvernwood-lined firing channel tipped with quicksilver-treated windstone, allowing blowgun darts to be discharged directly from the belt’s internal chamber.

Multiple Passives Magic:
- Biocenotic Kinetic Equilibrium: Stabilizes internal mana, metabolic flow, and environmental resilience, granting advantage on saving throws against poison, disease, dynamic energy strain, extreme hot or cold climates, and forced fatigue, while preventing wild, non-monstrous beasts from becoming aggressive unless attacked first.
- Whispering Memory Weave: Subtly absorbs and records ambient speech and atmospheric vibrations within 30 feet, allowing the wearer to recall overheard details without degradation and granting a bonus to social de-escalation and insight into target motivations.
- Harmonic Void Resonance: Radiates a continuous aura of systemic equilibrium that neutralizes stray static electricity, prevents the avatar from suffering the Paralyzed or Dazed conditions from kinetic shocks, and emits quiet harmonic tones to signal incoming malevolent intent.
- Symbiotic Vitality Network: Whenever the avatar or a friendly ally within 15 feet receives healing, the biological overflow pulses through the coral node, distributing 5 temporary health points to all friendly bonded organisms within the radius.
Multiple Active Magics:
- Cordon of the Harmonious Void (Action): Depressing the obsidian pupil toggle expends 1 charge to project a 15-foot-radius emanation of soft, dark-violet and sea-foam light for 10 minutes. Within this boundary, incoming kinetic and electrical discharges are neutralized, allies regain 5d12 health points, and physical damage taken by willing participants within the perimeter is shared equally across the network.
- Whispering Wind Gale-Strike (Action): Expending an action, the wearer unleashes up to two high-velocity needles from the cincture’s integrated wyvernwood blowgun channel at a range of up to 120 feet, dealing base piercing damage plus 5d12 tier damage; rolling a critical hit bypasses all damage resistances and immunities of the target.
- Charming Rustle of the Ecosystem (Action): The avatar rustles the silk ribbons and coral-rimmed shell to release a cloud of bioluminescent spores and harmonic whispers. Up to three targets within 15 feet must make a saving throw or become charmed for 1 minute, losing aggressive intent while their physical momentum drops into static inertia.
- Dynamic Decay Counter-Pulse (Reaction): When a hostile entity within 15 feet unleashes an explosive kinetic burst, frenzy, or magical charge, the avatar flares the fractal vellum slips to release an acoustic grounding pulse that decays the surge into harmless static inertia, canceling the target’s bonus momentum for 1 round.
- Disceptive Dispersion Blast (Silent Release, Action): Manually depressing the living coral disk without vocal chanting discharges a compressed burst of nature and kinetic force in a 10-foot emanation; because it is cast silently, damage is reduced by 25%, dealing base force damage plus 5d12 tier damage and driving hostiles back 10 feet.
Specific Slot for this Single Item:
- Worn item (Waist Slot)
Targeted Item Mechanics, Disabling Thresholds, and Repair Protocols
- Total item hit points: For a Tier 5 artifact with a base resilience of 10, the base structure possesses 50 hit points (calculated as resilience 10 multiplied by Tier 5), added directly to the attuned avatar’s maximum health points.
- Initial targeting and deactivation: An attacker declaring a targeted strike against the cincture must target the item’s Armor Check, calculated as the wearer’s total Armor Check plus their tier level (5), plus their rolled tier die (1d12), plus the item’s own native Armor Check bonus (+2).
- Deactivation upon impact: When an attuned item is successfully struck by a targeted attack, the bond is severed and the item is immediately unattuned and deactivated. While attuned, the item absorbs the initial blow by losing its attunement rather than taking direct health point damage.
- Structural damage to disabled item: Once unattuned, subsequent targeted strikes inflict direct damage against the item’s pool of health points.
- Broken state threshold: An item that suffers damage reducing it to 50% or less of its total hit point pool enters the broken state. When broken, all passive enchantments, active magics, and skill bonuses cease functioning entirely.
- Complete destruction threshold: If incoming attacks deplete the item’s hit points to zero, the artifact is completely destroyed, snapping its woven fibers and dropping its core component materials alongside its Tier 5 crystal node.
- Physical and magical repair procedures: The cincture cannot regain lost health points passively or through rests; it must be physically repaired before it can be reactivated or re-attuned.
- Artisan skill requirements: Repairing the item requires an artisan, artificer, or crafter possessing a minimum skill level of 5 plus 1 for each tier of the item (requiring a minimum skill level of 10 in relevant fields such as Bio-Weaving, Lapidary, or Kinetic Artifice).
- Reagent integration: The repair process involves resealing the fractured obsidian toggle with volcanic ash resins, realigning the black crystal node and living coral disk using fresh seawater and lodestone paste, and replacing any severed shadow-silk or lightning-reed cords.
- Restoration and re-attunement: Once the physical structure is restored to above its 50% broken threshold, the item’s magical flow restabilizes. It must then undergo a full 10-minute ritual attunement by a Tier 5 avatar to restore its active enchantments and protective bonds.
Acquisition, Commerce, and Mercantile Venues of the Whispering Void-Sphere
- Acquisition methods beyond open commerce: Obtaining a unified Tier 5 artifact of this magnitude cannot typically be accomplished through simple retail transactions, as items of this level represent sovereign-grade relics. A character or party might acquire the cincture by undertaking a high-tier diplomatic expedition to recover the scattered ancestral components across the 73 island nations, successfully merging them at an ancient planar forge under royal commission. It can also be discovered within the sealed vaults of forgotten sky-cities, secured as a supreme war prize from defeated warlords commanding continental siege engines, or awarded by an island nation’s reigning monarch as an imperial boon for preserving an entire oceanic biome against systemic planar corruption.
- Royal Sanctuaries and Capital Arcane Conservatories: Located within the innermost palace compounds and grand academies of major capital cities, these pristine institutions feature soaring vaulted ceilings supported by living coral architecture and insulated basalt pillars. Staffed by grand viziers, court artificers, and master bio-weavers, these conservatories deal only in masterwork enchantments meant for national defense and high-tier military leadership. The purchase of an artifact of this magnitude requires royal writ, diplomatic clearance from the King’s Counsel, and extensive background verification through the Mind’s Eye. The acquisition cost in a capital conservatory is standardized at 120 to 150 Rhodium pieces, though recognized guild masters or sovereign envoys with elite standing may secure a diplomatic allowance reducing the price by 10% per tier of the purchaser. If an avatar brings the cincture to sell to the crown, the royal treasury will conduct formal stress appraisals to verify the integrity of the central void node and coral matrix, offering between 50 and 65 Rhodium pieces, paid either through direct World Bank balance transfers or in raw sovereign promissory ingots.
- High-Altitude Sky-Spire Guildhalls and Cloud City Vaults: Suspended three thousand feet above the surface within the great mage-tower complexes of Cloud City or the mechanical rotor-fortresses of Copter City, these elevated mercantile exchanges cater exclusively to high-tier aeromancers, void navigators, and kinetic-engineers. The establishments are lined with brass-trimmed display pedestals, humming dynamic manifolds, and vacuum-sealed glass cabinets pressurized to prevent moisture damage to delicate fibers. Acquiring the cincture here involves not only liquid wealth but also formal trade pacts or the completion of dangerous aerial surveying quests through volatile lightning squalls. The retail purchase price in a Sky-Spire exchange ranges from 140 to 180 Rhodium pieces, frequently substituted with bartered high-tier assets such as airship navigation cores, refined elemental steam dynamos, or intact Tier 5 magic crystals. When buying the cincture from an adventuring party, master aeronauts will examine the wyvernwood blowgun channel for warping and test the kinetic resonance of the vellum slips, paying between 60 and 75 Rhodium pieces in unminted platinum, arcane batteries, or deeded transport shares.
- Deep-Ocean Sovereign Enclaves and Coral Atoll Sanctuaries: Found thousands of fathoms below the surface in the central metropolitan seats of the 20 underwater influence regions, these luminous aquatic sanctuaries are built into petrified leviathan carapaces and ancient, massive reef formations. Illuminated by continuous bioluminescent flora, these secluded sanctums are managed by elder sea-shamans and tide-lords who value the cincture primarily for its deep biocenotic resonance and living coral harmony. An avatar wishing to purchase the item here must prove their attunement to marine preservation and endure ritual interrogation beneath the scrutiny of elder truth-singers. The asking cost typically equates to 130 to 160 Rhodium pieces, though sea-sovereigns often accept payment in equivalent weights of standardized non-metal precious shell currencies, pearls of ancient growth, or rare leviathan marrow-ink. If selling to an underwater enclave, the elders will test the living coral disk by immersing it in deep-trench seawater; if the symbiotic pulse remains vibrant, they offer 55 to 70 Rhodium pieces in unworked precious metals, deep-sea alchemical resins, or protective reef-weaving services.
- Subterranean Smuggler Crypts and Black-Market Shadow Bazaars: Hidden deep within unmapped cavern systems beneath industrial mining centers or submerged volcanic sea-caves, these clandestine markets operate beyond the jurisdiction of island monarchs, city tax collectors, and royal courts. Shadow brokers, rogue kineticists, and syndicate fences operate behind heavy lead-lined wards designed to block detection by scrying and the Mind’s Eye. Transactions in these dens are strictly unregulated, bypassing all World Bank logs, municipal tariffs, and border taxation. The purchase price for the cincture through a subterranean fence demands a massive flat payment of 200 to 250 Rhodium pieces, payable entirely in physical precious metals or untraceable black-market coin. Buyers are expected to guard themselves upon leaving the premises, as the market provides no guarantees of personal safety once outside the ward boundaries. When purchasing the cincture from a party, black-market fences offer between 70 and 90 Rhodium pieces in hard coin or illicit military-grade consumables, guaranteeing absolute anonymity and leaving no records for government investigators to trace.
Tactical Environmental Roleplay: Defensive and Offensive Deployments
- Capital Throne Rooms, Royal Courts, and High Diplomatic Summits
- Defensive Roleplay: Amidst the marble columns and gilded galleries of an island monarch’s palace, direct violence is replaced by political intrigue and lethal social maneuvering. The avatar uses the cincture’s passive Whispering Memory Weave to continuously record whispered conspiracies between duplicitous lords, treasonous ministers, and foreign ambassadors without raising suspicion. When court tension boils toward unsheathed steel or magical intimidation, the wearer activates the Charming Rustle of the Ecosystem, releasing soft harmonic hums and a microscopic spore drift that lowers emotional aggression, prevents dueling challenges from erupting, and preserves diplomatic immunity.
- Offensive Roleplay: If an opposing faction attempts to corner the party through fabricated legal charges, the avatar leverages the Etiquette and Gossip Gathering masteries to expose the opposition’s hidden alliances, using precisely remembered verbatim conversations to dismantle their credibility before the King’s Counsel. In moments where an assassination must occur without alarming the palace guard, the avatar utilizes the integrated blowgun channel to silently project a needle into an enemy vizier across the banquet hall. By triggering the needle attack to bypass magical wards and physical protections on a critical strike, the target collapses from an untraceable puncture while the avatar remains seated and unmoving.
- Suspended Sky-Cities, Cable-Bridges, and Flying Void-Vessels
- Defensive Roleplay: While navigating narrow suspension catwalks three thousand feet above the surface between the soaring spires of Cloud City or across the mechanical platforms of Copter City, sudden squalls and violent aerial predators present constant danger. The avatar relies on Biocenotic Kinetic Equilibrium to eliminate vertigo, maintain flawless balance on frost-slicked cables, and ignore biting sub-zero crosswinds. If an enemy boarding party detonates a concussive shock-charge on a void-schooner deck, the avatar deploys the Cordon of the Harmonious Void, creating a stabilized dome that absorbs the kinetic blast, shares impact damage evenly among deckhands to prevent casualties, and prevents crew members from being blown over the railing into the drop below.
- Offensive Roleplay: During boarding actions against rogue privateer zeppelins, the avatar rushes the gangplank to engage elite sky-pirates. Rather than engaging in prolonged blade combat on narrow footings, the avatar steps forward and triggers the Disceptive Dispersion Blast without speaking a single syllable. The silent, compressed shockwave erupts from the central coral ring, hurling approaching boarders ten feet backward off the edge of the sky-dock into the empty air while leaving the airship’s fragile gas-bags and rigging intact. For airborne beast handlers directing attacking griffon swarms, the avatar fires twin blowgun needles into the sky, utilizing the extended 120-foot range to down mount leaders and scatter the assault formation before they reach diving velocity.
- Abyssal Trenches, Coral Atolls, and Submerged Megacities
- Defensive Roleplay: Operating in the crushing depths of the deep oceans within one of the 20 underwater influence regions requires continuous environmental adaptation. The cincture’s living coral disk and braided sea-grass harmonize with ambient hydrostatic pressure, allowing the avatar to move freely through hydrothermal vents and cold-seep zones without suffering kinetic or thermal trauma. When confronted by territorial kraken spawn or wild leviathan predators, the cincture’s Biocenotic Resonance prevents the creatures from initiating hostile attacks, recognizing the living reef matrix as an indigenous, non-threatening component of the sea floor. If ambushed by predatory deep-sea raiders deploying electrical bio-shocks, the avatar invokes the Dynamic Decay Counter-Pulse, grounding the arcs harmlessly into the seabed.
- Offensive Roleplay: When assaulting a fortified sunken vault held by rebellious undersea barons, the avatar leads the vanguard through flooded corridors. The avatar initiates the Cordon of the Harmonious Void, establishing an illuminated perimeter that clears toxic brine, restores the vitality of allied aquatic shock-troops, and turns the surrounding water into a shared defensive web. From within this redoubt, the avatar sights through the dark trench waters, discharging wyvernwood-channeled darts that strike deep into the joints of heavy abyssal armor, bypassing natural carapace immunities and incapacitating enemy sentries before defensive bubble-shields can be raised.
- Subterranean Magma Tunnels, Dark Caverns, and Industrial Steam Conduits
- Defensive Roleplay: In the lightless cavern complexes beneath volcanic islands where molten rock moves through unstable channels, the environment threatens travelers with sudden earthquakes, superheated steam geysers, and sulfurous gases. The cincture’s Harmonic Void Resonance continuously bleeds away static charge generated by subterranean magma friction, while its internal filters neutralize toxic volcanic vapors and extreme radiant heat. If a pressurized steam pipe ruptures or a cave ceiling collapses, the avatar steps directly into the path of the falling basalt blocks or scalding jets, allowing the item’s structural resilience and kinetic warding to catch the impact, siphoning the kinetic shock into inert static and shielding trapped companions behind them.
- Offensive Roleplay: In tight, echo-prone stone tunnels where vocal spells would alert entire colonies of subterranean monsters, the avatar relies entirely on silent tactical abilities. Creeping ahead through the dark with enhanced stealth, the avatar identifies enemy patrol concentrations using Void Sensitivity to read their mana pulses through solid stone. The avatar releases the Disceptive Dispersion Blast silently against the stone walls, causing directional shockwaves that collapse escape routes and push hostiles into open magma chasms. For heavily armored construct sentries guarding subterranean factories, the avatar coordinates a rapid ambush: a single shot from the concealed blowgun penetrates the automaton’s kinetic dynamo, bypassing its metallic damage reductions to shut down the machine’s steam core instantly.
- Electrified Wastelands, Calamity Scars, and Wild Magic Storms
- Defensive Roleplay: Traversing landmasses scarred by ancient siege magic where wild magic storms and persistent lightning arcs lash the terrain demands absolute energetic grounding. The avatar functions as a mobile sanctuary for the adventuring party; the five-ply lightning-reed braid actively pulls ambient electrical discharge from the air, feeding the energy into the central black crystal node instead of allowing it to strike traveling mounts or companions. When a wild magic tempest produces erratic localized detonations, the avatar triggers the Dynamic Decay reaction, collapsing unpredictable magical spikes into inert static before the ambient spell-storm can trigger catastrophic wild surges.
- Offensive Roleplay: When engaging rogue warlords or renegade battle-mages who draw power directly from chaotic energy nexuses, the avatar uses the cincture to control the pace of combat. As the enemy attempts to harness the surrounding wild magic for an apocalyptic mass strike, the avatar flares the vellum slips, discharging a harmonic counter-frequency that instantly neutralizes the opponent’s casting surge, dropping their dynamic power state to absolute zero for an entire round. Capitalizing on the enemy caster’s disorientation, the avatar unleashes a twin-needle gale strike across the electrified battlefield, delivering decisive physical damage through the enemy’s depleted magical shields to end the engagement before regional spell feedback can trigger.

Perception of Activation:
Sight
- User’s Perspective: The central obsidian pupil toggle flares with deep indigo and violet luminosity behind its polished crystal viewport, while the encrusted living coral disk emits a rhythmic, bioluminescent sea-foam green pulse. Fine, cobalt-blue static arcs skitter along the five-ply lightning-reed and volcanic flax braid, tracing into the woven shadow-silk strands that ripple with an iridescent moonlight shimmer. The four accordion-pleated vellum slips ignite from within with a crisp blue backlight, revealing the dark obsidian void fractals and balance runes in stark relief, while a thin, swirling mist of glowing emerald spores drifts outward from the hips to settle in a fifteen-foot boundary line across the floor.
- Observer’s Perspective: Onlookers witness the central ocular clasp at the wearer’s waist ignite with an undulating dark-violet and sea-foam green core, casting long, stark shadows across the surroundings. The hanging vellum tags shine like delicate paper lanterns, projecting intricate silhouettes of spiraling void-patterns and balance sigils onto the wearer’s garments. A faint, glowing ring of pale cobalt and verdant light circumscribes the floor around the user, sending motes of soft green bioluminescent spores drifting into the air.
- Positives: Serves as a clear, natural illumination source in lightless abyssal trenches, deep subterranean cave systems, or dense forest canopies without requiring an open flame.
- Negatives: The bright multidirectional flare and vivid luminescent boundary line make stealth operations, visual concealment, and blending into shadows completely impossible.
Hearing
- User’s Perspective: A sudden, vacuum-like silence rushes through the ears, cutting away ambient background noise, immediately followed by the synchronized blending of two distinct sounds: a low, rhythmic thrumming akin to a massive industrial dynamo running smoothly in the distance, interwoven with the soft, soothing sound of ocean waves breaking gently against a distant barrier reef. Intermittently, faint harmonic chimes vibrate from the brass charms, and indistinct whispered fragments of spoken words drift through the fabric weave like wind through dried reeds.
- Observer’s Perspective: Nearby listeners experience an abrupt, dampening quietude in their immediate surroundings, overlaid by a steady, low-frequency hum that vibrates the air like a muffled, spinning gyroscope. Beneath this mechanical hum lies a faint, oceanic rustle and the delicate, crystalline ringing of tiny charms that chime in soft, alternating chords.
- Positives: The rhythmic auditory feedback produces an immediate calming effect, lowering emotional panic, steadying elevated heart rates, and reassuring agitated companions or domestic animals during chaotic encounters.
- Negatives: The persistent mechanical hum, rustling fibers, and audible chimes can be readily pinpointed by sharp-eared predators or alert sentries in completely silent environments.
Touch
- User’s Perspective: A cool, invigorating sensation reminiscent of oceanic sea spray settles over the abdominal region and spreads across the skin, paired with a deep, rhythmic vibration that pulses like a calm, collective heartbeat shared among surrounding organisms. A light, prickly static tingle washes across the extremities, absorbing muscular tremors, drawing out feverish body heat, and settling the nervous system into absolute equilibrium.
- Observer’s Perspective: Anyone standing within the active fifteen-foot perimeter feels a sudden, crisp drop in the localized ambient temperature, accompanied by a faint, cool mist brushing against exposed skin and a mild static tingle that causes fine arm hairs to stand on end.
- Positives: The soothing cooling sensation eases physical inflammation, buffers the body against violent external kinetic shocks, and counteracts the debilitating effects of desert heat or volcanic steam.
- Negatives: In sub-zero or blizzard environments, the sustained damp, cooling aura can cause the wearer and nearby allies to feel uncomfortably chilled and numb if maintained over extended durations.
Smell
- User’s Perspective: The nasal passages are instantly cleared by a crisp, multifaceted aroma dominated by sharp clinical ozone, pulverized lodestone mineral dust, and dried volcanic earth, immediately followed by an undertone of fresh coastal sea-foam, crushed sweetgrass, and fragrant temple incense.
- Observer’s Perspective: Observers catch an invigorating, clean draft that cuts through stagnant cavern air, sewer stench, or the sulfurous fumes of industrial machinery, carrying the distinct scent of a seaside tempest sweeping over energized stone and sweet wild moss.
- Positives: Effectively overpowers and neutralizes sickening ambient stenches, rot, sulfurous vapors, and nauseating inhaled fumes, allowing individuals within the zone to breathe without coughing or choking.
- Negatives: Leaves a pronounced, unmistakable scent trail of ionized ozone and coastal brine that can be tracked downwind by predatory beasts, trained bloodhounds, or aquatic hunters.
Taste
- User’s Perspective: A dry, sharp metallic tang of copper and iron—akin to holding an inert battery against the tongue—settles across the palate, followed closely by a clean mineral sea-salt dryness and a faint, sweet herbal aftertaste of wild sugarcane juice that stimulates the salivary glands.
- Observer’s Perspective: Those lingering within the immediate mist cone experience a faint, mineral saltiness on the lips accompanied by an alkaline, metallic dryness in the back of the throat, prompting an involuntary swallowing reflex.
- Positives: Stimulates salivary production and keeps the throat moist, preventing dry-mouth during extended incantations, tactical commands, or grueling forced marches.
- Negatives: Leaves a lingering brackish, metallic taste that coats the tongue and dulls the sensitivity of the palate to regular food or subtle drink for several hours.
Extra-Sensory Perceptions
Kinetic Proprioception and Void Sensitivity
- User’s Perspective: The user’s conscious awareness expands into an intricate internal map of local kinetic energy, perceiving the flow of physical momentum, static friction, and internal mana pathways within all entities inside the perimeter. Spikes in enemy adrenaline, building physical charges, or incoming kinetic discharges register as fluctuating pools of siphonable heat and tension ready to be collapsed into static inertia.
- Observer’s Perspective: Aggressive adversaries feel an unnatural, creeping sluggishness seize their limbs, as though their forward momentum and boiling rage were being drawn out into a heavy, unmoving reservoir of cold lead.
- Positives: Grants precise tactical detection of physical maneuvers, sudden ambushes, and kinetic spells before they fully discharge, allowing the user to anticipate attacks without relying solely on line of sight.
- Negatives: Sustained exposure to the violent momentum fluxes of multiple high-tier combatants can induce brief spatial disorientation and cognitive strain in the user.
Mind’s Eye Ecosystem Matrix
- User’s Perspective: The internal vision of the Mind’s Eye reveals a multi-layered matrix of glowing green and dark violet threads that physically map the life force, stress levels, health conditions, and exact spatial coordinates of every animal, plant, and allied avatar within the radius.
- Observer’s Perspective: Creatures possessing an active Mind’s Eye observe a complex geometric lattice connecting the wearer’s waist to the surrounding life forms, pulsing with regulated metabolic feedback.
- Positives: Delivers instant, comprehensive diagnostic awareness of the party’s health, poison progression, and physical exhaustion levels without verbal communication.
- Negatives: Experiencing the sudden, sharp pain spikes or biological trauma of multiple connected allies simultaneously can cause mental jar and temporary loss of concentration.
Soul Sight and Harmonic Balance
- User’s Perspective: Through Soul Sight, the avatar experiences a profound alignment where their soul-signature harmonizes with the living spirit of the local ecosystem while anchoring against planar instability. The chaotic ebb and flow of ambient magical fields resolves into a balanced weave of light and shadow, granting complete spiritual calm.
- Observer’s Perspective: An observer utilizing Soul Sight perceives the user’s soul aura expand into a radiant, sea-foam and dark-violet halo that gently envelops nearby companions, washing away erratic spiritual turbulence with an unshakeable, detached stillness.
- Positives: Grants total stability against spiritual panic, supernatural dread, and psychic corruption, while completely insulating the avatar’s soul against hostile necrotic decay.
- Negatives: If a bonded ally within the shared network perishes abruptly, a sharp, cold spiritual shock reverberates directly through the collective soul-signature, momentarily stunning the wearer’s higher perceptions.

Fivefold Knot and Unbroken Horizon
In the epoch of many sun-heats past, before the great water-measure of the world was written down by the copper rulers of the shore-kings, the high air and the deep salty mud were not speaking to one another in peace. The ancient paper of dry calf-skin, being chewed by ditch-beetles and turned upside down by foolish clerks of the middle kingdoms, records this history with many broken words and missing numbers.
In that forgotten turning, the moon-land had seven great terrors that did walk upon the earth and fly through the wet clouds. The fire of the sky fell down like crooked brass spears, eating the ears and the copper ornaments of any man who stood upon his roof to look for rain. The wild beasts of the mangrove swamps did have teeth like curved stone knives and did bite the legs off the net-pullers, because the forest did hate the sea, and the sea did spit black foam upon the sweet potato gardens. In the high stone towers where the cloud-masters blew their glass pipes, the mages of the wild order and the mages of the crooked path did throw red fire and blue ice at each other across the valleys, shouting many noisy arguments about which wheel of heaven was rounder. And in the dark drinking houses of the harbor docks, the whisper-women and the sneaking dagger-men did buy and sell the secrets of the kings for bowls of yellow oil, setting brother against brother until the whole land was like an anthill that has been kicked by a wild pig.
Now there lived upon the rocky tail of the great island a very poor maker of fish-traps. The bad copyist calls him The Man Who Tied Dry Straw With Both Thumbs, but on the torn edge of the scroll he is named simply Knot-Tier. His dwelling was made from six crooked poles of wyvernwood that had been split by the thunder-bird, covered with rotten palm leaves that let the cold water run into his face while he slept upon his mat. He had no gold beads to put into the mouth of the trade-priest, nor did he have a bronze sword to cut the throats of the swamp lizards. He had only a wooden needle carved from the shin of an unmentioned fowl, two spans of gray flax from the sulfur-ditch, and a very empty belly that made loud grumbling noises like an ungreased cart-wheel.
One morning when the star of the sky was rising like an angry turnip, Knot-Tier did go down to the salty shore to scrape green slime from the rocks for his kettle. There he did behold four strange wanderers sitting upon a stranded tree-trunk, weeping with great abundance into the foam.
The first was a woman of the palace, dressed in rags of silver silk that were torn like a beggar’s blanket. She did wring her hands and speak with many hiccups: “The great Queen of the Three Faces has cast me out into the dirt because my mouth did let slip the name of the prince’s secret cousin! Now the dagger-men follow my footprints in the wet sand, and the black hounds do sniff my shadow, and I have no wall to hide my back!”
The second was a skinny priest of the high crags, whose beard was completely burned away by blue sparks. He held in his palm an obsidian eye that was cold as river ice, crying out: “My six brothers did climb the thunder-mountain with heavy cables of red brass to catch the sky-fire! But the sky-fire was ten thousand times larger than our cooking-kettles; it drank their grease, melted their winches into yellow butter, and left my hands weeping sparks that sting my own nose!”
The third was two little sorcerers who were born from the same belly-sac, tied together at the ankle by an iron band. One did shout: “Everything must be square and straight like a stone wall!” while the other did scream: “Everything must be crooked and bouncing like a mad flea!” And they did pull each other’s hair so hard that their teeth did rattle, but neither could walk three steps without tumbling into the mud.
The fourth was a hunter from the high eastern woods, carrying a long hollow tube of lightning-tree wood that was choked with sand. He cried with loud lamentations: “The Wind Spirit gave me this pipe that could blow two thorns through the heart of an elk from fifty paces! But my liver grew proud; I did shoot the sacred white bird to steal its silver tail, and now the wind has turned its back upon my lips. When I blow, only gray dust comes out, and the mountain tigers laugh at my misery!”
Knot-Tier sat down upon a heap of dried sea-grass and took a drink of bitter brackish water from his hollow gourd. He looked upon the four sorrowful wanderers, then he looked upon the wide blue bay where a great turtle with glowing barnacles upon its shell was swimming between the sharp coral teeth.
The text of the bad copyist here has three lines entirely blackened by squid-oil, but it continues with much bad grammar: “The tier of knots did speak unto them with the tongue of an unlearned man: ‘Why do you run about like headless hens, each holding one spoke of a wagon-wheel and screaming that you cannot ride into the town? The sky-fire has teeth because it has no road to the belly of the world. The silk whisper gathers flies because it is not tied to a working spade. The straight rule and the crooked hop are only the right foot and the left foot of the walker. And the wind-pipe is empty because you blow only your own selfish breath instead of the breath of the great water.’”
Then Knot-Tier took his bone needle and did command them to bring forth their broken gear.
From the woman of the palace, he did take forty-two strips of her shadow-silk, which was woven from the cocoons of night-spiders and remembered every word that was ever breathed in the dark.
From the weeping sky-priest, he did take the dense cord of five-ply lightning-reed and sulfur-flax, soaked in the black lodestone oil, along with the unblinking obsidian pupil-toggle and the four accordion-slips of calf-skin that were marked with the mazes of the void.
From the two quarreling wizard-brothers, he did take their round medallion of broken silver and quartz, pulling out the hot red essence of confusion and the cold white essence of measurement, which had made them fight like two bad dogs in a grain-bin.
From the fallen hunter, he did take the hollow tube of wyvernwood and the quicksilver stone that lived in its mouth.
And from the shallow reef where the old turtle watched, Knot-Tier did pluck a ring of gleaming mother-of-pearl and a living branch of green coral that smelled like ocean rain and blooming swamp-moss.
He sat upon the flat volcanic rock for three whole passings of the sun, neither eating boiled roots nor sleeping beneath his palm shelter. He took the five-ply lightning cord and the strands of shadow-silk and did braid them together, ply over ply, knot over knot, pulling the fibers so tight that the lodestone oil did squeeze out like black blood and coat the silk until it turned dark like a stormy sea at twilight.
Into the center of the braid, where the navel of the belly rests, he set the obsidian eye. But into the open eye of the stone he did not put dead glass; he bound the hollow mother-of-pearl ring of the reef-weavers, and inside the ring he bedded the living coral upon a cushion of sticky tree-sap. Along the left hip and the right hip he tied the four folded vellum papers that drink lightning, hanging between them five small bells of yellow brass that had been washed in the melted order-silver. And behind the toggle, along the inside of the thick cord, he carved a secret hollow path for the wyvernwood blowgun, lining the mouth with quicksilver so that the breath of the wearer might fly through the waist without the movement of hands.
When the knot was pulled to its end, the five broken things were no longer five. They did snap together with a loud crack like a dry branch breaking under an elephant’s foot, and there was only one thing: a broad, heavy cincture that hummed with a deep, low noise like a thousand giant hornets living inside a hollow stone.
The scroll describes the awakening of the knot with many mistaken glyphs and wrong translations: “And behold, the great thing did happen upon the twenty-second hour! The green coral in the navel did open its skin and shine with a soft light like green milk. The shadow-silk did begin to whisper with forty voices, but they were not voices of malice; they were the voices of the trees telling where the water was sweet, and the voices of the fish telling where the nets should not be dropped. The blue sky-sparks that were running across the sand did jump straight into the braided flax and fall down asleep into the earth, doing no harm to any toe. And the two wizard-brothers, looking into the mirror of the shell, did see that their faces were the same face, and they did sit down side by side and eat a roasted fish without a single curse.”
Then came down from the burning mountains a great terror of the old world: the Iron-Horned Warlord of the Black Sump, who had forty war-canoes filled with skin-flayers and fire-throwers. His belly was covered in plates of stolen iron, and his spear was as long as a pine tree, dripping with the poison of ten thousand yellow scorpions. He did roar until the coconuts fell from the palm branches: “Bring forth your maidens, your bags of dried beans, and your gold beads, or I shall turn your beach into a pot of red porridge!”
The fishermen and the village mothers did run into the bushes, screaming and dropping their clay bowls. But Knot-Tier did not run into the bushes. He stood upon the wet sand before the water’s edge, tying the heavy five-ply belt about his lean middle, snapping the obsidian eye shut over his navel.
The Iron Warlord did laugh with a sound like rocks grinding in a mill, and he did cast a great javelin of blue lightning from his hand, meant to split Knot-Tier from his crown to his heels.
When the spear of fire touched the fifteen-foot shadow of the belt, there was no red blood and no burning meat. There was only a sudden, thick silence, like the dropping of a sodden sheepskin over a barking dog. The great sky-fire did not explode; it collapsed into a circle of dark-purple water-light. The vellum tags upon the weaver’s hips did flutter with a dry, rhythmic thrumming sound, and the terrible blue fire was drunk down through the flax cords, passing through the soles of Knot-Tier’s feet into the wet sand, leaving the air smelling cleanly of cold ozone and crushed sweetgrass.
The Iron Warlord grew black in the face with wrath; he called forth thirty of his strongest spear-men to rush forward and trample the weaver into the sea.
Knot-Tier did not raise a club, nor did he shout an incantation of cursing. He merely pushed his thumb hard against the living green coral disk in the belly of the ring without opening his teeth.
The old text says: “The navel did let out a great silent blow! It had no voice, yet it was louder than the thunder-rock. The thirty spear-men were lifted from their feet like dried husks and blown ten paces backward into the surf; their knees were turned to cold water, their dynamic breath was taken out of their chests, and their angry fury fell down into a heavy, sleepy stillness so that they could only sit in the foam and rub their chins like men waking from a bad beer-fever.”
Then the Iron Warlord, seeing his warriors sitting like dazed calves in the waves, raised his giant scorpion-spear to strike with his own brute arm.
Knot-Tier drew a small breath through his nose. He did not lift his hands to his face, but through the secret wyvernwood conduit woven along his flank, the wind of his chest did fly. Two needles of windstone, carrying the quicksilver grease, leaped from the hip-channel with the shrill whistle of a diving hawk. They did strike the Iron Warlord upon the joint of his great iron breastplate. The needles did not bounce away from the metal, nor did they care for the thick leather or the charms of blood-sorcery that hung upon his neck; they passed straight through the iron as though it were only morning fog, piercing the dark lung within.
The great warlord fell down upon his knees with a loud clang of iron, the black blood bubbling from his mouth. But he did not die upon the sand, for the green coral in the cincture did pulse with sea-foam light, and the forty shadow-silk ribbons did rustle with the karakia of the reef-weavers. The life-spirit of the fallen giant was bound into the communal web of the bay; his fury was drained away into the sand, his pain was split into forty harmless drops among the mangrove roots, and his spirit became quiet, like the surface of an inland pool after the rain has passed.
For seventy winters and seven, Knot-Tier did wear the fivefold belt across the island continents. When storms came from the gas-giant in the sky, he did stand upon the cliffs and tie the wind into the rocks so that the boats were not smashed. When kings did gather their armies with loud trumpets to burn down the border-towns, he did walk into the council pavilion and let the silk whispers tell the truth of their smallness, until the kings wept for their own foolish pride and broke their swords over their knees. And when the wild beasts of the deep woods came down in hunger, he did share his roasted roots with them, for the collar in his belt did make the pig, the lizard, the dog, and the man to know that they were all children of the same living soil.
When his hair was white like salt and his skin was dry like old bark, Knot-Tier did not die as other men die, leaving a stinking corpse for the flies. He went down into the great coral caves where the warm tide runs from the east to the west. There he did unbind the fivefold cincture from his middle and set it upon a table of smooth black basalt, where it hums even in this hour with the quiet, contented breath of a world that is held in one piece.
The scribes who copied this paper in the ruined cities of the middle age have written many false names upon the bottom of the leaf, but the words that stand unrotted at the end of the roll are these:
Moral of the story: He who carries his strength in a single clenched fist will have his fingers broken by the hammer; but he who weaves the fire of the sky, the silence of the sea, the wisdom of whispers, and the balance of all opposing things into a single circle shall walk through the tempest without dropping his staff or losing his brother.

Call of Cthulhu (7th Edition)
Item Name: Cincture of the Abyssal Void and Whispering Currents
Artifact Classification: Relic of Oceanic Grounding & Psychometric Equilibrium
Carrying & Slot: Worn as a broad waist cord (Encumbrance: 0)
Sanity Loss: 0 to view; 1D4 Sanity points upon activating the sovereign grounding perimeter or suffering empathic shock from a connected ally’s demise.
Magic Point Cost: 3 Magic Points to manifest active wards or kinetic discharges.
Associated Skills: Natural World, Occult, Stealth, Listen, Charm, Navigate.
System Mechanics & Syntax:
- Kinetic & Atmospheric Grounding (Passive): The investigator gains a bonus die on CON rolls made to endure extreme natural heat, freezing temperatures, dynamic fatigue, and toxic environmental inhalants. Wild, non-monstrous fauna will not initiate attacks against the bearer unless provoked.
- Psychometric Whispers (Passive): The shadow-silk ribbons continuously gather ambient conversations within 10 yards. The wearer gains a bonus die on Listen and Psychology rolls, as well as an automatic Idea or Know roll to recall details overheard while wearing the cord.
- Harmonic Cordon of the Void (Active Effect): The investigator spends 3 Magic Points and 1 Sanity point to depress the central toggle. A 5-yard-radius perimeter of soft dark-violet and sea-foam green luminescence expands for 10 minutes. Within this boundary, electrical and explosive kinetic damage is reduced by half, all friendly targets recover 1D4+1 Hit Points, and physical damage suffered by willing subjects is divided equally among them.
- Concealed Gale Dart (Active Attack): Using the integrated blowgun channel, the user attacks an individual up to 40 yards away using the Firearms (Blowgun) or DEX skill. Base damage is 1D4 Piercing. On an Extreme Success (critical effect), the dart bypasses all physical armor and magical protections entirely.
- Dynamic Decay (Reaction): When an opponent within 5 yards unleashes a sudden physical charge, electrical discharge, or explosive attack, the user spends 2 Magic Points to flare the vellum tags. The target must succeed on an Extreme DEX or POW roll; on a failure, the sudden burst of energy decays into harmless static inertia, neutralizing the attack’s momentum for 1 combat round.
- Silent Disceptive Blast (Active Effect): The investigator depresses the living coral disk without speaking. The artifact discharges a localized shockwave targeting an adjacent foe within 2 yards. The target takes 1D6 points of Force damage and must succeed on an Extreme STR check or be thrown back 3 yards. Because this effect is initiated silently, the damage is reduced by 25%.
Blades in the Dark
Item Name: The Sovereign Void-Weave Cincture
Item Classification: Tier V Fine Arcane Grounding & Whispering Apparatus
Load: 1 Load (Worn at the waist)
Keywords: Arcane, Grounding, Void, Symbiosis, Charm, Whisper, Fine.
Quality: Tier V (+2 Quality bonus to relevant action rolls involving dynamic containment, environmental survival, gathering information, and silent assassination).
System Mechanics & Syntax:
- Biocenotic Stability (Passive): When you make a Resistance roll against environmental hazards, extreme cold, volatile lightning fields, or toxic fumes using Prowess or Resolve, you gain +1d. Non-hostile natural beasts treat you as part of the local ecology and will not attack unless threatened.
- Whispering Memory Lattice (Passive): The garment records spoken secrets. You gain +1d and +1 Effect on Gather Information rolls when interacting with high-society elites, courtesans, or street fences.
- Cordon of Harmonious Void (Active Ability — 2 Stress): Mark 2 Stress to depress the ocular toggle, projecting a localized perimeter of soft violet luminescence across your immediate zone for the scene. Crew members within the perimeter clear Level 1 physical shock or fatigue, reduce incoming electrical or concussive harm by 1 level, and may share the consequences of physical trauma equally among willing targets.
- Silent Gale-Strike (Active Ability — 1 Stress): Mark 1 Stress to fire a concealed needle from the cincture’s channel targeting a foe at medium range. Treat this as a Tier V lethal ranged maneuver with Great Effect. On a Critical result, the strike completely bypasses all armor and supernatural resistances.
- Dynamic Decay (Reaction — 1 Stress): When confronted by a charging brute, detonating lightning apparatus, or sudden magical surge within close range, mark 1 Stress to immediately make an Insight or Resolve Resistance roll. On a success, the incoming kinetic or electrical force decays into harmless static inertia, reducing the danger from Desperate to Controlled.
- Disceptive Dispersion (Active Ability — 1 Stress): Mark 1 Stress to manually press the coral disk without speaking, releasing a compressed pulse of kinetic force against a close foe. The target is thrown back 10 feet into walls or terrain, suffering Level 2 concussive harm with High Effect. Because it is triggered without vocalizing, the impact deals -1 Harm compared to a full spoken rite.
Dungeons & Dragons (5th Edition, 2024 Revision)
Item Name: Cincture of the Whispering Void-Sphere
Item Type: Wondrous Item, Legendary (Requires Attunement by a Tier 5 Character)
Gear Slot: Waist
Weight: 5.5 lbs.
Armor Class Bonus: While wearing and attuned to the cincture, you gain a +2 bonus to Armor Class (subject to tier maximums).
System Mechanics & Syntax:
- Biocenotic Kinetic Equilibrium (Passive): You have Advantage on saving throws against poison, disease, dynamic energy strain, extreme heat or cold, and effects that inflict the Dazed, Exhausted, or Paralyzed conditions. Natural non-monstrous beasts will not initiate attacks against you unless provoked.
- Whispering Memory Weave (Passive): You gain Advantage on Charisma (Persuasion), Charisma (Deception), and Wisdom (Insight) checks made during social interactions. The cincture records ambient conversations within 30 feet, which you can recall with perfect fidelity.
- Symbiotic Vitality Network (Passive): Whenever you or a friendly creature within 15 feet of you receives magical healing, all other friendly organisms within the aura gain 5 Temporary Hit Points for 1 hour.
- Cordon of the Harmonious Void (Action; 3 Charges): As an Action, you expend 1 charge to project a 15-foot-radius emanation of soft dark-violet and sea-foam green light centered on yourself for 10 minutes. Creatures of your choice within the emanation regain 5d12 Hit Points, gain Resistance to lightning and force damage, and may share incoming damage equally among willing participants for the duration. The cincture has 3 charges and regains 1d3 expended charges daily at dawn.
- Whispering Wind Gale-Strike (Action): As an Action, you discharge up to two blowgun needles from the integrated waist conduit at a target within a range of 120 feet. Make a ranged weapon attack using your Dexterity modifier. Each hit deals 1d8 + Dexterity modifier Piercing damage plus 5d12 Force damage. On a Critical Hit, you can choose to either double the damage or have the attack bypass all damage resistances and immunities of the target.
- Dynamic Decay (Reaction): When a creature within 15 feet of you unleashes an explosive kinetic burst, physical charge, or lightning-based attack, you can use your Reaction to flare the vellum slips. The triggering creature must succeed on a DC 19 Dexterity saving throw or its surge collapses into static inertia, causing the burst attack to fail or nullifying all bonus momentum and charge damage until the end of its next turn.
- Disceptive Dispersion Blast (Action): As an Action, you depress the coral disk without speaking, emitting a 10-foot emanation of compressed force. Each hostile creature in the area must make a DC 19 Strength saving throw. On a failed save, a target takes 3d8 Force damage and is pushed 10 feet away. On a successful save, it takes half damage and isn’t pushed. Because this ability is activated silently, its damage is reduced by 25% from its standard power.
Knave (2nd Edition)
Item Name: Cincture of the Sovereign Reef and Void
Item Slots: 1 Item Slot (Worn at the waist)
Durability: 10 Quality (Repaired with lodestone oil, volcanic flax, and raw quicksilver)
Armor Defense Bonus: +2 Armor Defense bonus (applied to unarmored defense calculation)
Tags: Worn, Waist, Relic, Grounding, Whisper, Void, Tool.
System Mechanics & Syntax:
- Grounding & Kinetic Balance (Passive): The wearer gains a +4 bonus on Constitution and Dexterity saves made to resist lightning strikes, explosive blasts, poisons, environmental heat or cold, and forced-march fatigue. Wild beasts will not attack the wearer unless provoked.
- Whispering Threads (Passive): The garment records secrets spoken nearby. The wearer gains a +2 bonus on all Charisma and Wisdom rolls made to detect lies, negotiate treaties, or recall overheard information.
- Cordon of the Void (Active Rite — 1 Action): Once per exploration turn (10 minutes), the wearer expends 1 point of Item Quality to manifest a 15-foot circle of dark-violet and sea-foam green luminescence. Allies resting within this perimeter immediately clear all fatigue, regain 1d10 lost Hit Points, and gain complete immunity to electrical shock or stun effects.
- Whispering Dart Strike (Active Attack — 1 Action): The wearer discharges two concealed needles from the waist firing conduit targeting an enemy up to 120 feet away. The attack deals 1d8+2 Piercing damage plus 1d10 Force damage. If the attack roll succeeds by 10 or more over the target’s Armor value, the strike ignores all worn armor and natural defenses completely.
- Dynamic Decay (Reaction): When an adjacent foe unleashes a charging melee rush, explosive kinetic spell, or electrical bolt, the wearer may trigger the vellum tags by expending 1 point of Item Quality. The attacker must make a Dexterity save against the wearer’s attack bonus; on a failure, the strike’s kinetic energy is grounded harmlessly, neutralizing its damage for 1 round.
- Disceptive Dispersion (Active Attack — 1 Action): The wearer expends 1 point of Item Quality to press the coral node silently. All enemies within 10 feet must make a Strength save or suffer 1d8 Force damage and be thrown back 10 feet. Because this activation is executed without chanting, the damage is reduced by 25%.
Fate (Fate Core / Condensed)
Item Name: Cincture of the Whispering Void-Sphere
Aspects:
- High Concept: Fivefold Sovereign Waist Cincture of Kinetic and Ecological Equilibrium
- Invocation Aspect: Bound Currents of Whispering Shadows, Reef Harmony, and Void Grounding
- Flaw Aspect: Conspicuous Ionized Ozone Drift and Bioluminescent Sea-Foam Flare
Skills & Stunts:
- Biocenotic Kinetic Equilibrium (Passive Stunt): Because you wear this master-crafted cincture of braided lightning-reed, volcanic flax, and shadow-silk, you gain a +2 bonus to Physique or Will defense rolls against extreme climates, forced fatigue, airborne poisons, biological diseases, and electrical or kinetic shock effects. Natural, non-monstrous beasts will not initiate hostilities against you unless directly provoked.
- Whispering Memory Lattice (Passive Stunt): The woven shadow-silk continuously records spoken conversations within your immediate zone. You gain a +2 bonus when using Empathy or Notice to Create an Advantage based on overheard secrets, hidden motives, or political vulnerabilities.
- Cordon of Harmonious Void (Active Stunt): Once per scene, you may take an action to depress the central ocular clasp to create the situation aspect “Sanctuary of the Void-Sphere” with two free invokes. This establishes a zone-wide emanation of dark-violet and sea-foam green light. Allies resting or fighting within this zone gain Armor:2 against kinetic and electrical attacks, immediately clear their lowest-level physical stress box, and may choose to distribute incoming physical stress shifts equally among willing targets within the zone.
- Whispering Gale-Strike (Active Stunt): You may spend a Fate point to make a Shoot attack against a target up to two zones away using the concealed wyvernwood blowgun channel. On a success with style, instead of taking a boost, you may declare that the strike completely ignores all target Armor and protective aspects.
- Dynamic Decay (Reaction Stunt): Once per conflict, when an opponent in your zone initiates a high-velocity physical charge, kinetic burst, or electrical attack against you, you may flare the vellum tags as a free defense action using Physique or Athletics at +2. If you succeed or tie, the opponent’s kinetic build-up collapses into static inertia, canceling all forward momentum and denying them any bonus shifts from charging until the next exchange.
- Disceptive Dispersion Blast (Active Stunt): You can depress the coral disk directly without speaking to discharge a compressed shockwave of force across your zone. Spend a Fate point to make a Physique attack against all hostile targets in your immediate zone. Targets that suffer shifts are pushed into an adjacent zone. Because this ability is activated silently without verbal chanting, its weapon rating is treated as Weapon:1 instead of Weapon:3.
Numenera & Cypher System
Item Name: The Sovereign Void-Sphere Cincture
Level: 8 (Artifact)
Form: A dense five-ply waist cord woven from metallic olive fibers, treated flax, and iridescent shadow-silk, anchored by a pupil-shaped obsidian buckle housing a pulsating black crystal and living bioluminescent coral node. Four accordion-pleated vellum slips and a wyvernwood blowgun conduit run along the flanks.
Kind: Wearable Sovereign Artifact (Waist Slot)
Depletion: 1 in 1d100 (Rolled only when discharging the Cordon of Harmonious Void or the Whispering Gale-Strike)
System Mechanics & Syntax:
- Biocenotic Kinetic Ward (Passive): The wearer treats all Might defense tasks against natural temperature extremes, environmental poisons, physical fatigue, dynamic strain, and electrical or concussive shocks as two steps easier. Non-monstrous biological creatures will not attack the wearer unless provoked.
- Whispering Memory Weave (Passive): The shadow-silk absorbs and preserves spoken speech within immediate range (10 feet / 3 meters). The wearer gains an asset (reducing task difficulty by one step) on all Intellect-based tasks involving persuasion, deception detection, recalling overheard information, and social analysis.
- Cordon of Harmonious Void (Active Ability — Cost: 3 Might Points): The wearer depresses the obsidian toggle to project an immediate-range (10 feet / 3 meters) radius perimeter of pulsating violet and sea-foam green energy for ten minutes. Allies within the field ease all defense rolls against physical and electrical hazards by one step, immediately recover 4 points divided as desired among their stat Pools, and may divide incoming damage equally among willing participants in the area.
- Whispering Gale-Strike (Active Ability — Cost: 2 Speed Points): The wearer discharges up to two needle projectiles from the concealed wyvernwood conduit targeting a creature within long range (100 feet / 30 meters). The attack deals 8 points of damage. If the roll results in a natural 19 or 20, the attack ignores all Armor and invulnerabilities the target possesses.
- Dynamic Decay (Reaction — Cost: 2 Intellect Points): As a reaction when an adversary within immediate range charges with high momentum, detonates an explosive kinetic device, or discharges a lightning strike, the wearer flares the vellum slips. The attacker must make a Speed defense roll against the artifact’s level (Level 8). On a failure, the sudden surge decays into harmless static inertia, canceling all bonus damage and forward momentum for one round.
- Disceptive Dispersion Blast (Active Ability — Cost: 3 Might Points): The wearer depresses the coral disk directly without speaking. A shockwave erupts in an immediate emanation, dealing 5 points of force damage to all hostile targets and throwing them an immediate distance away. Because the activation is completely silent, the damage is reduced by 25% from its standard potent baseline (dealing 5 damage instead of 7).

- Whispering Memory Lattice (Passive): The cincture records ambient conversations within 30 feet. The user gains a +2 item bonus to Bluff, Diplomacy, and Sense Motive checks, and can recall recorded conversations with total clarity.
- Symbiotic Vitality Network (Passive): Whenever the wearer or a friendly ally within 15 feet receives Hit Point or Stamina recovery, all other friendly organisms within the aura gain 5 temporary Hit Points for 1 hour.
- Cordon of the Harmonious Void [two-actions] (Aura, Tech-Magic): Expending 2 charges, the user projects a 15-foot-radius emanation of soft dark-violet and sea-foam green light for 10 minutes. Allies within the field regain 6d8 Hit Points, gain resistance 15 to electricity and force damage, and may distribute incoming damage equally among willing participants.
- Whispering Gale-Strike [one-action] (Attack, Ranged, Tech-Magic): The operator discharges up to two needles from the hip conduit at a target within a range of 120 feet (+28 attack modifier). Each needle deals 3d6 piercing damage plus 4d10 force damage. On a critical hit, the attack bypasses all kinetic damage reduction and energy resistances.
- Dynamic Decay [reaction] (Tech-Magic): Trigger A creature within 15 feet makes a charge attack, discharges an explosive kinetic weapon, or fires an electricity weapon. Effect The user flares the vellum slips. The triggering creature must succeed on a DC 38 Reflex saving throw or its kinetic surge collapses into static inertia, causing the burst attack to fail or nullifying all bonus momentum and charge damage until the end of its next turn.
- Disceptive Dispersion Blast [one-action] (Force, Tech-Magic): Requirements The user depresses the coral disk without speaking. Effect Emits a 10-foot emanation of compressed force. Hostiles within the area take 5d8 force damage (DC 38 basic Fortitude save) and are pushed 10 feet back on a failed save. Because this activation is executed silently, damage is reduced by 25% (reflected in the damage profile).
Traveller (Mongoose 2nd Edition)
Item Name: Sovereign Void-Current Grounding Cincture
Tech Level (TL): TL 15 (Advanced Artifact / Psionic-Kinetic Hybrid Frame)
Item Type: Personal Grounding & Espionage Belt
Mass: 2 kg
Price: Cr 500,000
Armor Value: +2 to total personal armor against physical, ballistic, and energy impacts.
System Mechanics & Syntax:
- Kinetic Equilibrium (Passive Effect): The wearer gains DM+2 to all Endurance checks made to resist hostile planetary atmospheres, extreme heat or cold, dynamic fatigue, and toxic airborne spores. Non-monstrous fauna will not initiate attacks against the user unless attacked first.
- Whispering Audio Lattice (Passive Effect): The mesh records ambient conversations within 10 meters, functioning with Computer/2 capabilities and storing up to 200 hours of encrypted audio. The wearer gains DM+1 on Admin, Deception, Diplomat, and Investigate checks.
- Cordon of the Static Void (Significant Action): The wearer depresses the central toggle to generate a 3-meter perimeter of dark-violet static dampening for 2D combat rounds. Friendly individuals within this area gain DM+2 to all Endurance checks to resist electric shock, concussive stun effects, and energy weapons, and may choose to share physical damage points equally among willing individuals within the boundary.
- Concealed Gale Needle (Minor Action to Aim, Significant Action to Fire): The user launches two quicksilver-coated flechettes from the concealed waist conduit up to Medium Range (50 meters). Damage: 2D+3 Piercing. If the attack roll achieves an Effect of 6+, the flechettes completely bypass all worn armor and personal refractive shielding.
- Dynamic Decay (Reaction): When an opponent within 5 meters initiates a high-velocity melee charge, explosive weapon detonation, or energy blast, the wearer may make an Average (8+) Electronics or Physical Science check. On a success, the incoming kinetic or electrical charge is shunted into static ground, neutralizing the bonus damage from momentum or causing the blast to collapse into harmless inertia for 1 round.
- Disceptive Dispersion Blast (Significant Action): The wearer presses the coral toggle silently, triggering a directional kinetic nature shockwave targeting an individual within 3 meters. The target must succeed on an END check (Difficulty 10+) or suffer 2D-2 Force damage and be thrown back 2 meters. Because this activation is triggered silently, damage is reduced by 25%.
Warhammer (Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4th Edition)
Item Name: Girdle of the Whispering Void-Sphere
Item Type: Sovereign Talisman / Multi-Lore Relic (Lores of Heavens, Life, and Shadows)
Carried & Slot: Waist (Encumbrance: 1)
Availability: Unique
Armor Check: +1 Armor Point to all locations (stacks with worn armor up to racial maximums).
System Mechanics & Syntax:
- Biocenotic Kinetic Ward (Passive Ability): The bearer gains a +20% bonus to Endurance Tests made to resist natural temperature extremes, forced-march fatigue, poisons, and electrical or concussive shocks. Natural non-monstrous beasts will not initiate hostilities against the bearer unless provoked.
- Whispering Memory Weave (Passive Ability): The garment records spoken words within 6 yards. The bearer gains a +10% bonus to Charm, Gossip, and Intuition Tests, and may recall any conversation overheard while wearing the cincture with a Simple (+40%) Intelligence Test.
- Symbiotic Vitality Network (Passive Ability): Whenever the bearer or a friendly ally within 3 yards receives magical healing or recovers Wounds, all other friendly companions within the radius gain +1 Temporary Wound for 1 hour.
- Cordon of the Harmonious Void (Active Effect; Single Action): Once per day, the bearer depresses the obsidian toggle to manifest a soft, pulsing dark-violet and sea-foam green perimeter in a 3-yard radius for 1d10 rounds. Allies within the field gain the Ward (8+) Trait against Lightning, Electricity, and concussive damage, immediately recover 1d10 Wounds, and may distribute incoming physical Wound loss equally among willing allies within the perimeter.
- Whispering Wind Gale-Strike (Active Effect; Single Action): The bearer fires up to two concealed darts from the waist conduit at a target within 24 yards. Make a Ranged (Blowpipe) Test with a +20% bonus. Damage: +6 Piercing. If the attack roll results in a Critical Hit, the darts ignore all target Toughness Bonus and Armor Points entirely.
- Dynamic Decay (Reaction): When an adversary within 3 yards charges with high momentum, detonates an explosive weapon, or casts an electrical spell, the bearer may make a Challenging (+0) Cool Test in an Opposed Test against the attacker’s Willpower. On a success, the kinetic or electrical burst is grounded immediately, removing all charge or electrical bonus damage and forcing the target to lose its momentum for 1 round per Success Level achieved.
- Disceptive Dispersion Blast (Active Effect; Single Action): The bearer depresses the living coral disk directly without speaking. A target within 2 yards must pass a Hard (-10) Endurance Test or suffer a Damage +5 Force hit and be pushed back 2 yards. Because this activation is executed silently without vocal chanting, total damage is reduced by 25% (reflected in the final damage profile).
