Original insects used as base: Orchid Mantis, Emerald Jewel Wasp, Bullet Ant
Lore
- The existence of this tiny magical insect is widely documented by scholars as a direct affront to the natural evolution of the world of Saṃsāra.
- When souls from the multiverse first encountered this species over nine thousand years ago, they considered its unique biological magical circuits to be an affront to the established mechanics of magic flow.
- The insect utilizes a form of quantum magic that allows it to bypass traditional conduits, an ability that rule breakers view with fascination but traditionalists view as an absolute affront to the restrictions placed by the gods.
- When an avatar utilizes the active activation of the Mind’s Eye to identify the stats of this creature, the resulting information manifests as an affront to logical categorization, displaying a chaotic mix of lethal toxins, enchanting camouflage, and aggressive magical energy.
- Historical texts recovered from the deep cave systems describe the creature’s origin as an intentional affront engineered by a forgotten civilization to guard their hidden megacities, though the ruins are now overgrown and the insects have spread far beyond their original borders.
Appearance
- The creature measures less than two inches in length, presenting a physical form that acts as a visual affront to the typical expectations of a venomous predator.
- The front half of the insect perfectly mimics the delicate, petal-like structures of an orchid blossom, displaying vibrant hues of pink and white designed to attract unwary prey in a manner that is an affront to honest biological warning signs.
- The midsection transitions abruptly into the hardened, metallic emerald carapace of a jewel wasp, reflecting ambient light with an intensity that serves as an affront to the shadowed undergrowth it typically inhabits.
- The rear abdomen is disproportionately thick and heavily armored, culminating in a vicious, oversized stinger inherited strictly from the bullet ant lineage.
- Its tiny compound eyes glow with a faint, localized magical luminescence, maintaining a constant visual affront to the natural darkness of the forgotten backwoods and deep jungles.
Behavior
- The insect operates with a hyper-aggressive territorial instinct, treating the mere presence of any sentient being, creature, or avatar within its vicinity as an unforgivable affront.
- Instead of fleeing from larger predators or overwhelming odds, it launches itself directly at the threat, considering any form of evasion to be an affront to its innate predatory programming.
- When it strikes, it uses its petal-like forelegs to tightly grip the target before driving its stinger deep into the flesh, injecting a highly concentrated magical toxin that causes immediate and agonizing pain.
- The physical pain inflicted is documented as a severe affront to the nervous system, mimicking the mechanical burning of high-pressure steam without leaving a visible physical burn mark on the avatar’s body.
- Because avatars gain absolutely nothing from a short rest, the health point loss and lingering pain inflicted by this tiny creature’s venom remain a persistent, debilitating affront to the avatar’s vitality until a full long rest can be achieved and a tier die is rolled.
Wild Environment
- These insects thrive almost exclusively in the deep, overgrown jungles and the forgotten ruins of old civilizations where magic naturally bubbles forth and pools in high concentrations.
- They construct their intricate, crystalline hives directly along the localized magic flow lines, physically twisting the surrounding flora into unnatural, jagged shapes that serve as a structural affront to the natural landscape.
- The hives are frequently found near the ruins of ancient mechanical power transmission systems, where the insects harvest the residual alchemical slag from rusted gears and shafts to chemically harden their emerald carapaces.
- Entering their specific territory is incredibly dangerous, especially if the location is naturally designated as an unsafe area where an avatar’s Armor Class is cut in half, making the swarm’s synchronized attacks a deadly affront to the traveler’s baseline defenses.
- They actively avoid the highly populated metropolises, island countries, and floating cities, finding the continuous atmospheric vibrations of steam-powered factories and zeppelin engines to be a severe affront to their delicate sensory appendages.
Size
- The Insect 819 of the Chromatic Agony-Bite occupies a physical space that is classified as tiny within the mechanics of the world of Saṃsāra.
- A fully mature specimen measures exactly one and three-quarter inches from the tip of its orchid-like raptorial forelegs to the heavy point of its bullet ant-derived stinger.
- Its wingspan, when fully deployed for flight, measures a precise two and one-half inches across, consisting of translucent, rigid structures that fold flat against the emerald jewel wasp carapace when grounded.
- The physical weight of the insect is negligible on an individual basis, but a self-aware gestalt swarm of these creatures possesses enough mass to actively impede the physical movement of a targeted avatar.
- Because of its diminutive size, the creature presents a significantly reduced physical profile, making it exceedingly difficult to strike with traditional kinetic weaponry or heavy steam-powered mechanisms unless the area of effect encompasses the entire swarm.
Traits
- Biological Conduit Mastery: The creature functions as a living magical conduit, utilizing its own physical form to channel the magic flow that naturally ebbs and bubbles forth across the seventy-three island countries.
- Mind’s Eye Misdirection: The natural camouflage of its petal-like forequarters projects false biological stats to the passive activation of the Mind’s Eye, registering only as a mundane botanical specimen to unobservant avatars.
- Agonizing Venom Delivery: A successful strike from the oversized stinger injects a quantum-magical toxin designed to aggressively attack the health points of the victim.
- Health Point Degradation: Any reduction of health points inflicted by this venom is strictly subtracted from the character’s temporary bonus health points first, and then directly from the avatar’s base health points.
- Absolute Rest Restriction: The lingering effects of the magical toxin are notoriously difficult to purge because avatars gain absolutely nothing from a short rest, leaving the victim to suffer continuous pain and health point degradation until a long rest can be achieved or alchemical intervention is administered.
- Gestalt Consciousness: While an individual insect operates on pure feral instinct, a high concentration of these creatures in close proximity will spontaneously generate a quantum magic group mind, allowing the swarm to become fully sentient, self-aware, and capable of complex tactical coordination against higher-tier threats.
- Sonic Resilience: The crystalline structure of its emerald carapace is highly resistant to the concussive sound waves generated by large-scale mechanical power transmission systems, allowing it to navigate the deafening environments of industrial ruins without suffering the disorientation that affects other localized fauna.
- Environmental Adaptation: The insect naturally thrives in unsafe areas where an avatar’s Armor Class is cut in half, utilizing the dense, overgrown terrain to launch synchronized strikes against compromised targets.

Other Information
- The physical remains of this insect hold significant value within the massive metropolises and floating cities, subject entirely to the sellers’ market where the concept of buyer beware governs all transactions.
- The intact stinger of the creature is heavily sought after by rule breakers who intentionally defy established societal norms regarding magic; they bind the tiny, razor-sharp stingers to their own fingertips to serve as unconventional physical conduits for channeling offensive spell energy.
- Alchemists operating within the guarded areas and walled towns pay high prices in silver and electrum to acquire the venom sacs, utilizing the raw fluid to distill potent weapon coatings that bypass standard biological resistances.
- A single vial of purified venom from this specific insect is normally priced in electrum, firmly categorizing it as a tier two resource within the underground economies.
- The vibrant, petal-like forelegs retain their magical luminescence long after the creature perishes, making them a highly requested material for artisans crafting specialized identification items required for the active activation of the Mind’s Eye.
- If a possessed avatar is killed by the venom of this insect, the avatar will dramatically perish and vaporize into a cloud of sparks, leaving behind a soul crystal and all worn gear.
- Characters who lose an avatar to this creature permanently retain the agonizing memory of the venom’s effect, a sensory detail that remains intact even after the character merges with a new physical form.
- Engaging a gestalt swarm of these insects requires careful strategic planning, as their coordinated attacks can rapidly deplete an avatar’s health point buffer before the avatar has the opportunity to expend a single point of mana boost as a reaction to stop themselves from dying.
- Because the creature frequently nests near the forgotten alchemical slag of ancient ruins, the chitinous husks of deceased specimens are often saturated with residual elemental fire, making them highly volatile and dangerous to harvest without specialized, insulated gear.
- The presence of a mature hive directly disrupts the localized magic flow, often causing nearby steam-powered machinery to suffer irregular pressure fluctuations until the hive is physically removed or destroyed.
- Tracking the creature requires an avatar to be exceptionally proficient in perception, as the insect’s ability to blend into the vibrant flora of the deep jungles renders it completely invisible to standard visual tracking methods.
- When a character of tier three or above attempts to share their thoughts and senses through their memories while actively suffering from the creature’s venom, the shared sensory input is heavily distorted by the magical agony, effectively blinding and deafening the connected avatars to anything beyond their immediate twenty-foot radius.

Perception of Sight
- What is perceived: Visible light, the ultraviolet spectrum, and localized magical luminescence.
- Description: The vision of this creature relies on the large, multifaceted compound eyes inherited from its mantis and jewel wasp lineages. These eyes are highly adapted to the shadowy, overgrown environments of the deep jungles and forgotten ruins. They process rapid movements with extreme precision and constantly scan for the specific glowing auras of magic flow that bubble forth in the world.
- Positives: The ability to see into the ultraviolet spectrum allows the insect to perfectly track the biological and magical trails left behind by avatars navigating the backwoods. The wide field of view makes it nearly impossible for prey or hostile forces to approach the creature or its crystalline hive undetected from peripheral angles.
- Negatives: Because the eyes are tuned to dark environments and subtle magical glows, sudden, intense bursts of bright light, such as a localized discharge of elemental fire or highly concentrated explosive alchemical reactions, will temporarily blind the insect and disrupt its visual tracking capabilities.
Perception of Hearing
- What is perceived: Atmospheric vibrations, mechanical grinding, and low-frequency sonic waves.
- Description: The insect does not possess traditional ears but instead utilizes microscopic sensory hairs distributed across its emerald carapace and delicate antennae. These hairs detect minute shifts in air pressure and the specific vibrations caused by physical movement or mechanical operations within ancient ruins.
- Positives: The crystalline structure of its hardened carapace provides an immense resilience to concussive sound waves. This allows the insect to thrive near the deafening alchemical slag of old mechanical power transmission systems without suffering disorientation. It can effortlessly detect the heavy footfalls of heavily armored avatars moving through unsafe areas.
- Negatives: Environments with continuous, overwhelming multi-frequency vibrations, such as the massive steam-powered factories of the metropolises or the engine rooms of floating cities, completely overload these sensory hairs. This sensory static effectively deafens the creature to immediate, close-range physical threats.
Perception of Smell
- What is perceived: Chemical pheromones, alchemical off-gassing, and biological scent markers.
- Description: The antennae function as highly advanced chemoreceptors, constantly parsing the humid jungle air for specific elemental compounds and biological signatures. This sense is directly tied to the creature’s hyper-aggressive territorial instincts, immediately flagging any foreign scent as an absolute affront to its domain.
- Positives: The insect can detect the precise chemical makeup of rusted gears and shafts from miles away, guiding it to the materials necessary for hardening its carapace. It can also track the specific scent of an avatar’s blood or sweat over vast distances, ensuring that targets who attempt to flee after a strike are easily hunted down.
- Negatives: Heavy applications of pungent alchemical repellents, thick elemental smoke, or the natural masking scents of deep swamps can severely disrupt this sense. When the air is saturated with these overwhelming odors, the insect loses its ability to track targets purely by scent and must rely on visual or magical detection.
Perception of Taste
- What is perceived: Biomagical toxicity, elemental residue, and blood composition.
- Description: Specialized chemoreceptors are located on the gripping surfaces of its petal-like raptorial forelegs and within its mouthparts. This allows the insect to actively analyze the surface composition and biological makeup of whatever it physically touches or bites into.
- Positives: Upon grappling an avatar, this sense allows the insect to immediately gauge the target’s current health point buffer and biological defenses. It uses this instantaneous feedback to determine the exact volume of agonizing quantum-magical toxin to inject from its bullet ant-derived stinger to ensure maximum health point degradation.
- Negatives: If the insect grapples an avatar wearing gear coated in highly purified alchemical metals, toxic sludge, or specific corrosive defenses, the overwhelming taste profile causes an involuntary recoiling reflex. This temporary hesitation can provide an avatar with a crucial moment to break the physical grapple before the venom is injected.
Perception of Touch
- What is perceived: Surface texture, thermal gradients, and physical kinetic resistance.
- Description: Tactile feedback is gathered continuously through the rigid, translucent wing structures, the sharp gripping barbs of the mantis-like forelegs, and the heavily armored rear abdomen. This sense governs the creature’s physical interactions with its environment, particularly during the high-speed maneuvers of an ambush.
- Positives: The insect possesses exceptional tactile sensitivity regarding grip strength, allowing it to seamlessly latch onto the worn gear or exposed flesh of an avatar. By feeling the physical resistance of the target’s armor, the insect can instantly locate the weakest structural point or exposed gap to accurately drive its oversized stinger into the flesh.
- Negatives: The physical form of the insect is highly sensitive to extreme elemental cold. Rapid drops in the local thermal gradient drastically slow its biological and magical circuits. This tactile numbness reduces its flight maneuverability, weakens its raptorial grip, and delays the injection of its venom.
Perception of Magic Flow Detection (Extra-Sensory)
- What is perceived: The bubbling, ebbing, and flowing of raw magic currents, leylines, and active spell energy.
- Description: This quantum-magical sense allows the insect to visualize the invisible energetic infrastructure of the world of Saṃsāra. Because the insect functions as a living magical conduit, it constantly feels the push and pull of the localized magic flow across its crystalline hive and physical body.
- Positives: This extra-sensory perception allows the swarm to locate the absolute highest concentrations of raw magic for hive construction. It also allows the insect to instantly detect avatars who are utilizing items above their tier level, as the resulting magical friction and divine pain inflicted upon the avatar create a highly visible beacon of disrupted magic flow.
- Negatives: In areas of extreme magical disruption, such as the epicenter of a massive magical conflict or near heavily unstable ancient artifacts, the overlapping fields of raw spell energy can completely blind this sense. This magical static effectively masks the approach of higher-tier avatars or rival magical monstrosities.
Perception of Gestalt Mind-Link (Extra-Sensory)
- What is perceived: The instinctual intent, spatial positioning, threat assessment, and sensory data of all other units within the local swarm.
- Description: While an individual insect operates on pure feral instinct, proximity to others of its kind spontaneously generates a quantum-entangled telepathic network. This extra-sensory link allows the swarm to function as a singular, self-aware, and highly intelligent sentient entity without the limitations of physical distance within the active combat zone.
- Positives: This perception facilitates instantaneous, perfectly coordinated synchronized strikes against heavily armored avatars. The swarm can share visual, chemical, and magical sensory data collectively, ensuring that if one insect detects a hidden threat, the entire swarm is immediately aware and can maneuver to attack the target’s weakest flank simultaneously.
- Negatives: If a significant portion of the swarm is suddenly eradicated by a massive area-of-effect spell or heavy mechanical weapon, the immediate severing of those quantum connections causes a severe cognitive shock to the surviving members. This sudden drop in the group mind’s processing power temporarily breaks their coordination, halting their synchronized attacks until the remaining insects can reestablish the mental link.
-
Volatile Quantum-Toxin Extract
- This excruciating, highly-prized, and chemically unstable fluid is painstakingly drained from the intact stingers of the creatures.
- Because the agonizing venom directly attacks an avatar’s temporary bonus health points and base health points, and because avatars gain absolutely nothing from a short rest, the extraction process is fraught with immense physical risk.
- The relationship between the avatars and the insect is strictly defined by extreme economic greed and lethal risk, as rule breakers and underworld assassins will pay exorbitant amounts of electrum in the sellers’ market to coat their weapons in this corrosive substance.
- Avatars actively hunt the swarms solely for this extract, treating the feral monstrosities as walking bounties rather than localized wildlife, which forces the gestalt hive-minds to become even more hyper-aggressive toward any bipedal intrusion into their overgrown jungles.
- Luminescent False-Petal Membranes
- These mesmerizing, magically-radiant, and deceptively delicate structures are surgically separated from the raptorial forelegs of the insect.
- Artisans operating within the guarded areas and somewhat safe areas utilize these glowing membranes to craft specialized lenses required for the active activation of the Mind’s Eye, allowing the wearer to read hidden stats and decipher ancient riddles without becoming overwhelmed.
- This intense demand creates a continuous, parasitic relationship where avatars are fundamentally dependent on the biological growth of the hives to advance their own metaphysical perception capabilities.
- The high value placed on these specific membranes ensures that the isolated ruins where the insects nest are constantly besieged by heavily armed harvesting expeditions, preventing the swarms from ever existing in a state of natural isolation.
- Alchemically-Hardened Emerald Chitin Dust
- This frictionless, crystalline, and structurally resonant powder is created by grinding down the heavily armored carapaces of the insects.
- Engineers managing the massive steam-powered factories within the metropolises rely heavily on this indestructible dust to lubricate high-friction gears, drive shafts, and pulley belts without the need for combustion-based oils.
- The constant industrial need for this dust transforms the relationship into one of calculated extermination, as mercantile guilds frequently pool their silver coins to finance large-scale operations designed to wipe out entire hives for their raw chitin.
- Because the insects harvest alchemical slag to harden these carapaces, avatars deliberately bait the swarms by leaving rusted mechanical parts near the jungle borders, manipulating the creature’s natural biological processes strictly for future harvesting.
- Quantum-Entangled Sensory Antennae
- These hyper-sensitive, microscopic, and continuously vibrating appendages are carefully plucked from the head of the insect immediately following its death.
- Scholars and telepathic avatars utilize these fragile organs to construct localized communication conduits that operate outside the standard magic flow, allowing for silent coordination within unsafe areas where the Armor Class is strictly cut in half.
- The targeted harvesting of these specific antennae causes extreme disruption to the self-aware gestalt group mind of the swarm, instantly severing the telepathic network of the surviving insects.
- This creates a relationship defined by bitter, reciprocal retaliation, as the sudden cognitive shock inflicted upon the hive-mind inevitably triggers immediate, synchronized counter-attacks against the nearest walled towns and agricultural verges by the remaining feral monstrosities.
Recipes:
Title: Blade-Coating of the Agonizing Siphon 6021
Ingredients:
- One full dram of Volatile Quantum-Toxin Extract harvested directly from the bullet ant-derived stinger of the insect.
- Three measures of purified elemental water.
- Two silver coins, melted down and magically spun into fine alchemical dust.
- One strip of cured reptilian scale to act as the binding applicator.
Preparation:
- Begin by establishing a stabilized magic circuit within a sealed glass crucible to prevent the volatile extract from immediately vaporizing upon exposure to the atmospheric air of the world.
- Introduce the purified elemental water drop by drop, allowing the quantum-magical toxin to bind to the liquid matrix without triggering a concussive localized reaction that could damage the workspace.
- Slowly sift the alchemical silver dust into the mixture while chanting a normal spell with a flourish for less than six seconds to securely increase the magical binding effect of the ingredients.
- Stir the solution with a non-conductive object until the liquid turns a dark, luminous emerald green matching the carapace of the original feral insect.
- Apply the coating to a bladed weapon using the cured reptilian scale, ensuring the weapon is properly attuned to the avatar beforehand by holding it for the required full minute.
- The resulting coating bypasses standard biological defenses; because avatars gain absolutely nothing from a short rest, a strike with this coated weapon guarantees the victim will suffer continuous health point degradation and excruciating pain until a proper long rest is achieved.
Title: Ocular Focus of the Overwhelming Truth 3847
Ingredients:
- Four pristine Luminescent False-Petal Membranes separated surgically from the raptorial forelegs.
- One meticulously polished glass lens crafted within the steam-powered factories of the metropolises.
- Exactly two electrum coins, melted to form a precise circular binding wire.
- A small magic crystal functioning as a localized battery for spell energy.
Preparation:
- Position the polished glass lens over a gentle vent of steam derived strictly from elemental water and fire, ensuring the glass reaches a state of minor pliability without shattering.
- Carefully layer the four pristine Luminescent False-Petal Membranes across the convex surface of the lens, strictly aligning their natural magical luminescence to properly filter incoming visual light and ultraviolet spectrums.
- Pour the molten electrum around the outer edge of the lens to permanently seal the fragile membranes to the glass, forming a rigid wire frame that can be fitted perfectly to an eye monocle or spectacles worn on the head slot.
- Connect the small magic crystal to the electrum wire, completing the magic circuit and initiating the active identifying properties of the newly crafted ocular device.
- When worn, this specific item allows the possessor to utilize an action to concentrate for a few minutes to dive deeper into the hidden stats of creatures or decipher abstract concepts without suffering immediate mental overwhelm from chaotic, overlapping biological markers.
Title: Frictionless Industrial Slurry 9914
Ingredients:
- Seven standard scoops of Alchemically-Hardened Emerald Chitin Dust ground from the insect’s carapace.
- One heavy iron vat of rendered, purified animal fat sourced from a badger-lineage monstrosity.
- Two measures of localized magic flow captured within a temporary magic storage crystal.
- One handful of alchemical slag recovered from an ancient mechanical power transmission system.
Preparation:
- Heat the heavy iron vat of rendered animal fat over an intense steam forge until the liquid reaches a rolling boil, ensuring absolutely no chemical combustion is utilized during the heating process.
- Introduce the alchemical slag directly to the boiling fat, allowing the heavy metallic impurities to draw out the natural binding agents contained within the lipids.
- Carefully pour the Alchemically-Hardened Emerald Chitin Dust into the vat while simultaneously releasing the captured localized magic flow from the temporary storage crystal.
- The quantum-magical resonance of the chitin dust will violently react with the raw magic flow, causing the entire slurry to instantly cool and solidify into a incredibly dense, frictionless paste.
- Pack the resulting paste directly into the mechanical power transmission systems of zeppelins, airships, or factory equipment, heavily applying it to the exposed gears, rotational drive shafts, chains, and pulley belts.
- The crystalline structure of the dust entirely eliminates mechanical friction, allowing the massive machinery to operate in near total silence without generating the deafening roar that typically masks the approach of predatory monstrosities in the scrublands.
Title: Telepathic Resonance Salve 1502
Ingredients:
- Three intact Quantum-Entangled Sensory Antennae, harvested immediately following the severance of the gestalt mind-link.
- Two ounces of refined organic beeswax sourced from the agricultural verges.
- One drop of pure elemental water to serve as the mystical solvent.
- A pinch of pulverized copper coin to serve as the magical conduit.
Preparation:
- Place the intact Quantum-Entangled Sensory Antennae into a mortar constructed from the dense, heavy bone of a high-tier amalgamation.
- Add the single drop of pure elemental water and use a pestle to carefully crush the microscopic sensory hairs, releasing the trapped quantum entanglement energy without breaking the internal localized magic circuits.
- Melt the refined organic beeswax over a low-temperature steam vent and slowly fold the pulverized copper coin dust into the liquid wax to act strictly as a physical conduit for the power of thought.
- Combine the crushed antennae paste with the molten wax, stirring continuously until the mixture achieves a uniform, pale green consistency that matches the localized magical luminescence of the deep jungles.
- Allow the salve to cool naturally in the shadowy environment of a deep cave system, keeping it completely away from the disruptive, multi-frequency atmospheric vibrations of heavy industry.
- When an avatar applies a small measure of this salve directly to their temples, it temporarily bridges the mental gap between physical forms, allowing for the limited, short-range transmission of sensory data and instinctual intent without requiring the avatars to be of the second tier or above.
False-Petal Who Wears Green Stone and Brings Burning Water of Pain
It is known from the scratching on the very old dry skins of the before-times, translated from the tongue of the forgotten mouth-sounds, that the walkers of the multiple lives did journey. They were the avatars, holding the memories of the other places within their head-meat. They walked upon the dirt of the island country that sits near the endless water. Before they walked into the woods of the deep shadows, they went to the market of the walled town, which is a somewhat safe area where the armor of the class is exactly doubled by the mechanics of the world.
In the market of the walled town, the rule of the trading was that the buyer must be full of the beware, because it is strictly the market of the seller. The walkers of the memories traded the coins of the white metal, knowing that ten of the silver is one of the gold, and that the items of the first tier are normally expressed in the silver. They bought the items of the healing and the purified water of the elements, because the price of the items varies in the different parts of the dirt due to the cost of the access and the availability. There is no set price for the item or the tier, so they paid the heavy coins to the greedy merchants.
The walkers were three, and they wore the items of the attunement. One walker wore the items to the number of nine, being very careful not to wear the ten, because the ten is the number of the worn attuned items where the character must advance to the tier of the two. If the ten is worn and not in the storage, the compulsory advancement is forced by the gods. They used the manufactured objects of the world as the physical conduits to let the power of the thought flow through into the magic. They did not use the vocal cords or the hand gestures, because they were not the breakers of the rules.
They walked away from the high walls and into the deep jungle where the old stones of the gear-turners lay broken. The magic flow bubbled and ebbed like the weather of the sky. As they walked, the zone of the safety changed. It became the unsafe area. The translation of the old dry skins says that in the unsafe area, the armor of the class for all the walkers is cut in the exact half. They became tired from the walking and the moving of the heavy gear. They sat down upon the roots of the overgrown trees to do a resting of the short time.
The ancient words are very strict and they repeat many times that the avatars gain the absolute nothing from a short rest. The buffer against the incoming damage did not fill. The health points remained low. They sat in the dirt, but the health points do not quickly restore each day. It takes the considerable amount of the time, possibly several days, and the rolling of the singular tier die after the long rest to regain the health. They did not eat the meal of the twenty minutes, so they did not gain the one health point per eating avatar. This was the mistake of the foolishness.
Upon the green leaf of the twisting vine, there sat the Insect 819 of the Chromatic Agony-Bite. The walkers of the memories looked with the passive activation of the eye of the mind. Because they only looked with the automatic seeing, they perceived the basic stats. The false biological stats of the mind’s eye misdirection showed only the delicate pink and white petals of the orchid flower. The walker of the nine items reached out the hand of the flesh to touch the beautiful pink flower, forgetting that touching the unknown is the danger of the low health.
The flower was not the flower. It was the affront to the logical categorization. The front half of the petal-arms moved with the hyper-aggressive territorial instinct. The middle of the creature showed the hardened, metallic emerald carapace of the jewel wasp, reflecting the localized magical luminescence. The tiny creature launched itself directly at the hand of the flesh. The walker could not see the disproportionately thick rear abdomen, nor the oversized stinger of the bullet ant lineage, until it was too late.
The petal-like forelegs gripped the skin of the avatar. The stinger drove deep into the meat-vessel. It injected the quantum-magical toxin. The poison was the severe affront to the nervous system. The walker of the nine items screamed the loud noises, for the pain mimicked the mechanical burning of the high-pressure steam without the visible burn mark. The health points of the temporary bonus were subtracted mathematically first. Then, the base health points of the avatar were aggressively degraded by the venom.
Because the single insect attacked, the localized magic flow vibrated. The proximity of the other insects in the overgrown ruins spontaneously generated the quantum magic group mind. The gestalt consciousness awoke. The swarm became fully sentient and self-aware. From the crystalline hives built along the magic flow lines, a thousand of the false-flowers with the emerald shells flew into the air. The translucent rigid wings beat against the wind.
The second walker of the memories lifted a heavy steam-hammer, powered by the elemental water and the elemental fire. They struck the ground to create the concussive sound wave to crush the swarm. But the crystalline structure of the emerald carapaces possessed the sonic resilience. The sound wave washed over the swarm with the no effect. The swarm utilized the extra-sensory perception of the gestalt mind-link. They shared the spatial positioning and the threat assessment instantly without the limitations of the physical distance. They maneuvered perfectly to attack the weakest flank of the second walker.
The walker of the nine items fell to the dirt. The lingering effects of the magical toxin continued to degrade the health points. Because the avatars gain nothing from a short rest, the walker could not stop the pain. The health points reached the zero before the walker could use the reaction of the single point of the mana boost to stop the dying.
The avatar perished dramatically. The physical form of the walker vaporized into the cloud of the bright sparks. The crystal of the soul fell into the mud. All the nine attuned items and the non-attuned items remained near the crystal. The swarm of the gestalt mind descended upon the items, tasting the alchemical metals with their chemoreceptors. The surviving two walkers of the memories looked at the unsafe area, looked at the armor of the class that was cut in half, and ran away with the great speed of the cowardice, leaving the crystal and the gear to the deep jungle.
The Moral of the Story: Do not trust the pink leaf that sits upon the green vine in the shadow of the old ruins, and never forget that sitting in the dirt for the short resting gives the health points of the absolute zero.
