Rules for merging items

If a vendor can be found to merge items, then this can happen. The vendor must have the capability to merge items that are in question. The cost of merging is 15% of the value of the items to be merged. Their skill level must be 5 or above for the type of merger being made, plus an additional skill level for each tier that matches the end results. The process destroys the items used in making a new item and has a 5% chance of no item being made. (Rolling a 1 on a d20 causes the merger to fail and materials to be destroyed. Rolling a 20 on a d20 causes the merger to add extra capabilities that were not there before.)

A playable character (avatar) with the correct skills can also merge items if their levels are high enough. This requires the proper equipment and time to make it happen.

Examples that can be merged:

  • Armor or weapon can have a rune added to it.
  • Wand added to other weapons.
  • Flask or vial added to a weapon or armor. (Method to create charges may be required for consumables.)
  • Spells (scrolls or other spell books) added to spell books. (10 per tier level maximum)

Examples that cannot be merged:

  • Items that will cause the new item to have 10 or greater (AC).
  • Spell books, tomes, etc. are limited to 10 spells times the tier level.

Your Guide Manager (GM) may change any rule, which may cause this to be different at your table.

A cover page should be added to the old items making this grouping into a single item. The cover page should include the new name of the item and any stats that changes from what was on the original items. (GM approval required) Roleplay is always something to strive for.

When merging items the crafter can modify properties of the new item to make the item more thematic. (GM approval required)

  1. […] Tiering up an item is taking two items and making one out of them. All stats are added together on the new tier item. Remember you cannot wear an item above the tier you are on. Not all items can be merged, see merging items. […]
