Character marks are like permanent curses that are placed on avatars. This is always specific to the item that was used to place the curse and is noted on the character. If a character carries a lot of marks, guards are less friendly to them. Examples below:
Hunters mark: (includes level and who marked them).
This mark is not removed unless the avatar that marked them dies. The avatar may not be able to find them if their distance is too much. See the item that allows hunters mark to be used for more information.
Banishment mark (includes the location of banishment). This allows an officer (not just any guard) to banish a character from a location. If the banished character is within the banished location an alarm will be noted by the guards in that location. This does not tell the guard where the avatar is, only that the avatar is within the area from which the character has been banished. See the item that allowed banishment to be used for more information.
