On the world of Saṃsāra, when using a ranged weapon with the ammunition trait, you must have the appropriate ammunition on hand to make an attack. Each attack depletes one unit of ammunition. Accessing this ammunition from a storage device like a quiver or case is considered an integral part of making the attack.
After combat concludes, you can reclaim 50% of the standard ammunition you used. This process takes roleplay time for searching the area where the battle took place.
Some ranged weapons or items have specific slots designated for holding ammunition. These slots can be used for various types of ranged weaponry or gear, including those that have special abilities or offer protection.
When making an attack with a ranged weapon that requires ammunition, the base statistics of the weapon, known as its fundamental rules, should be used to calculate the attack’s effectiveness and damage output. The special properties of the weapon, known as property rules, are generally not applicable when calculating these values, unless explicitly stated otherwise by the ammunition’s description.
Ammunition will inflict its stated damage upon successfully striking a target. This is in addition to any other effects the ammunition may carry unless its description specifies otherwise. If the ammunition is magical in nature, it will be consumed upon being launched, regardless of whether the attack is successful or not.
The materials constituting ammunition are typically mundane, unless specified otherwise. Various types of projectiles are used as ammunition unless the ranged weapon is designed to be thrown.
Certain specialized ammunition types, such as those used in firearms, may require the use of black powder. Crafting such ammunition generally necessitates proficiency in Alchemical Crafting. The cost of such specialized ammunition is uniform, as it includes the expense of the black powder. These specialized rounds can also be imbued with magical properties.
Crafting certain types of ammunition might necessitate expertise in both alchemical and magical crafting techniques. Additionally, some types of ammunition could necessitate specialized training, or originate from specific cultures or regions.
Generally, ranged weapons are designed to fire a single shot at a time. Magic-infused ammunition is non-reusable and is consumed upon use.
Note: As with all rules on the world of Saṃsāra, the Guide Manager (GM) has the final say. Rules can be changed to fit the table where it is used or the session within. Please, be respectful and use the same rules for everyone and be sure that everyone knows what the rules are.
