Ballad 382 of the Master Architect

Verse 1
In Saṃsāra’s grace where mages roam,
A tale we tell of ancient stone.
Of Master Architect so fine,
Whose spires did touch the very sky.

Verse 2
He molded earth, so stern and cold,
Into the castles made of gold.
With arcane script, he did behold,
The power of foundations old.

Verse 3
In cities vast with towers high,
His art did make the heavens cry.
No citadel could match his grace,
The legacy he did embrace.

Verse 4
Yet ambition grasped his tranquil heart,
Towards a project, a work of art.
A palace in the sky to build,
With air and cloud, his dream fulfilled.

Verse 5
|He studied scrolls, arcane and vast,
Of architects and builders past.
Through Mind’s Eye, he could understand,
The alchemy of sky and land.

Verse 6
He summoned creatures made of air,
To lift the stones with utmost care.
With elemental fire and steam,
He wrought his most audacious dream.

Verse 7
Yet peril lay in quest so grand,
The gods themselves did countermand.
They warned the architect to cease,
His work to bring the heavens peace.

Verse 8
He pondered well and weighed the cost,
Would all his work be truly lost?
With heavy heart, he stepped away,
His skyward dream would not hold sway.

Verse 9
In Saṃsāra’s lore, the tale persists,
Of the architect who did desist.
His earthbound works remain today,
A testament that will not sway.

Lore: The ballad “Ballad 382 of the Master Architect” is inscribed on an artifact known as “Architect’s Compass,” an ancient navigational instrument once used by the Master Architect himself. It is said that this compass guided the placement of some of Saṃsāra’s most magnificent structures.

Description: The compass is an intricately designed artifact with silver filigree encircling an aged parchment in the center. The parchment holds the verses of the ballad and is magically enchanted to be both resilient and legible. The compass needle is made of an alloy infused with elemental air and elemental earth, representing the dream of uniting sky and land.

Size: The compass is small enough to be carried in a pocket, measuring approximately 4 inches in diameter.

Thus, the Architect’s Compass serves as a link between the realms of inspiration and reality, just as the Master Architect himself once sought to unite earth and sky in his grand designs.

The Swaying Spire and the Architect’s Compass

In the land of Saṃsāra, where magic and material coalesce, a tale reverberates through the corridors of time. The populace, both of cities and rural provinces, recount the story of the Swaying Spire and the use of the fabled Architect’s Compass. This narrative is no mere fiction but a saga deeply woven into the very fabric of Saṃsāra’s history. It serves as a perennial reminder that hubris, when unchecked, may lead even the most skilled among us to the brink of calamity.

In a time now eclipsed by the gathering mists of the past, the city of Amethysta had risen to considerable fame. Renowned for its flourishing markets, intricate canals, and towering edifices, Amethysta was a jewel in Saṃsāra’s expansive realm. However, the crowning glory of this sprawling city was to be a monumental tower, an endeavour that the council of magistrates, along with the consent of the citizenry, had ambitiously undertaken.

The tower, envisioned to pierce the heavens, was no ordinary feat of architecture. It was to be an embodiment of the city’s pride, a symbol of its indomitable spirit. Yet, as the construction reached unprecedented heights, a disquieting phenomenon emerged. The tower began to sway, ever so subtly, as though disturbed by an invisible force.

Alarm descended upon the inhabitants of Amethysta. Scholars, builders, and magicians were summoned to diagnose this unsettling occurrence, but their efforts bore no fruit. Desperate to avert a catastrophe, the council decreed that an ancient artifact, the Architect’s Compass, be brought forth to resolve the enigma. The compass, it was believed, had been used by the legendary Master Architect to create wonders beyond imagination, and it contained within its frame the Ballad 382 of the Master Architect.

To this crucial task was appointed Elira, a sorceress of formidable skill, known for her mastery of the arcane arts. With solemnity, Elira took hold of the Architect’s Compass and began to sing the ballad inscribed upon it. As the mellifluous cadence of her voice filled the air, the compass resonated with a celestial light, awakening the dormant spirits of elemental air and earth. A sudden clarity bestowed itself upon Elira through her Mind’s Eye; she understood the imbalance that plagued the swaying spire.

With a newfound conviction, Elira directed the builders to reinforce the tower’s foundation with enchanted stones and align its axis using elemental air. Guided by the wisdom imparted by the Architect’s Compass, the builders laboured with unparalleled focus and, lo, the spire was steadied.

Thus was a calamity averted and the honour of Amethysta restored. To this day, the story of the Swaying Spire is narrated, a poignant testament to the wisdom of seeking counsel from the past and the harmonious balance between ambition and restraint.

The Architect’s Compass, having once again fulfilled its purpose, was returned to its sanctuary, awaiting the hour when Saṃsāra would once more require its ancient wisdom. But the tale of its use remains a cornerstone of Saṃsāra’s collective memory, an eternal narrative that shall never fade as long as the spires of Amethysta reach toward the heavens.
