Maps come in four major types: a globe, world faces, regions and country. There are also State and City maps with more detail.
Globes:
A world globe is a round ball with the countries show in their true locations relative to other countries.
World Face Maps:
There five faces of the world. This is usually shown on a flat map with marked regions and ocean currents. Countries are not shown on a world face map. A world face map shows which regions are close to other regions and have little detail.
Regional Maps:
Regional maps have three to four countries shown within regional boundaries. Countries outside of the region are named on the map to show their vicinity. There are 20 regions of the world.
Country Maps:
Country maps show the whole country. State boundaries and major roads are shown along with where major cities are located. Ocean currents and local islands may also be shown.
State Maps:
State maps have more detail with roads, rivers, and other important details shown. Also shown are landmarks and areas of interest.
City Maps:
City Maps show the roads and location of important business.
