She was a spirit who had fallen from a metal-sun, carrying the memories of the sharp-cold-needles and the stitching-of-the-skin. Her heart was a heavy-stone of the mending-craft, but the world of Saṃsāra was a place of much shouting and the breaking-of-the-bones by the crystal-lizards.

El-Yra-Va sat upon the edge of the fire-hole where the ocean-deep touches the earth-belly. She spoke to the ghosts of the Kaelen-Stone, saying, “I have the skill to fix the meat, but the chaos-noise of the battle makes my hands shake like the grass. I must have a tool that is both the tooth-of-the-wolf and the needle-of-the-clerk, wrapped in the blanket of the not-being.”

The scratching-record says she traveled to the three corners of the forgotten-thinking. First, she took the Tooth-Whip of the Fire-Links, the Steamwhip 928, which was the property of the Kaelen-Tinkers. It was a long-biter that lived on the hot-air. Second, she took the Sea-Blue-Drift-Blade of the Surgical-Harmony, the Martial 304, which carried the song of the mending-incisions. The ancient translation becomes exceedingly painful here, describing the “Crushing of the Ten-Thousand-Weights.” El-Yra-Va dove into the deep-wet-dark where the pressure makes the bone into the sand. There, in a forge that breathed the liquid-fire of the sea-floor, she laid the three burdens upon the altar of the Boiling-Trench.

She took the ebony-box and broke the hinges of the absence, letting the void-mist spill into the coral-spine of the healing-blade. She used the hot-air-joints of the Kaelen-Whip to bind the obsidian-glass to the sea-driftwood. The old-speaking says the items resisted the joining, for the whip wished to scream and the box wished to be empty, and the blade wished to stay rigid in the hand of the mender.

El-Yra-Va performed the “Stitch-of-the-Soul-and-Steam.” She used her own qi-breath to force the three ghosts into a single room. She hammered the moonstone-eye into the hilt-meat until the stone cried the turquoise-tears. The scratching-record says: “The three became the one-which-is-not. The tooth grew the runes of the stitching-logic. The steam became the voice of the grandmothers who whisper the forgetting-songs.”

In the next breath-length, the blade became the fifteen-foot-biter, extending with the hiss of the volcanic-vent to wrap the neck of a crystal-wyrm. The molten-tip burned the beast’s logic, and the whispering-mist made the wyrm forget that it was a hunter. The beast sat upon the ground and looked at its own claws as if they were the strangers.

The record says El-Yra-Va-Va walked through the entire army of the glass-beasts. She performed the “Amputation of the Memory.” Wherever she passed, the air smelled of ocean-rain and old-ink. The beasts forgot their hunger; the soldiers forgot their pain; the wounds forgot they were open. When the moon rose, the battlefield was a place of the great-silence and the orderly-peace.

But the price of the join-magic was a heavy-debt. El-Yra-Va-Va began to forget her own name, for the locket-of-the-absence was always drinking her history. She became a ghost of the healing-breath, a surgeon who had no face. She disappeared into the geothermal-mist of the high-mountains, leaving the Lash-Blade 6194 behind on an altar of the wet-obsidian.   • Whispering Entanglement: On a successful attack with the Lash (Reach: Long), the target must pass a Challenging (+0) Cool Test or suffer 1 Stunned condition and be unable to remember the wielder’s face for (Willpower Bonus) hours.
  • Qi-Steam Excision: Once per day, the wielder may perform a “Surgical Strike.” This removes all Poisoned, Bleeding, or Broken conditions from a target. If used as an attack, it ignores all Toughness Bonus.
