Spells are actionable abilities included within items.
Chanting spells increase the power that is invoked by the spell. There are three types of spell casting: Silent, Normal, and Ritual.
- Silent – Immediate (no words) – (25% less damage)
- Normal – a few or more words (Said with a flourish for greater effect) Less than 6 seconds.
- Ritual – Reciting, Singing, or Shouting for greater than 6 seconds. The more attention drawn, and time spent the greater the effect. (up to 25% more damage)
Disruption can happen when a spell is chanted because there is a measure of time that a distraction caused by happenstance or a foe that reacts to the chant.
In addition to the chanting above, if the target’s true name is used the damage is doubled.
