AC stands for “Armor Check”. It is a numerical representation used to determine how difficult it is for attackers to land a successful blow on a character, avatar, creature, or object. The AC value serves as a threshold that an attacker must exceed with their attack roll to hit the target.
The AC is often calculated based on various factors, such as the type of armor the character is wearing, the Avatar’s dexterity or agility, and any magical protections or special abilities they may have. A higher AC value indicates better protection, making it more difficult for attackers to land a hit.
This stands true except in “unsafe areas” and “deathly areas”.
Other terms and ideas to consider for (AC):
- Arcane Coating: This could suggest that the characters have a magical shield or layer protecting them rather than physical armor.
- Aegis Cover: An aegis is a shield or protection, often of a divine nature. This term could be used to represent both physical and magical protection.
- Anima Coat: Anima refers to life force or soul, and this term could represent an innate protective layer granted by a character’s vital energy.
- Avoidance Capability: This focuses on a character’s skill and agility in avoiding hits, rather than relying on armor or magical protections.
- Adaptive Casing: This term might imply that the protective layer around the character can adapt to different kinds of attacks.
- Astral Curtain: For a world steeped in magic and spiritual elements, this term could indicate protection that comes from an otherworldly plane.
- Aspect Concealment: This could be a protective layer that doesn’t just shield from physical damage but also hides aspects of the character, perhaps making them harder to target effectively.
- Aetherial Cloth: This would indicate protection imbued with aetherial, or heavenly, qualities, possibly combining both magic and divinity.
- Anti-Combat: A straightforward term, denoting something designed to counteract or mitigate combat effectiveness against the individual.
- Augmented Carapace: In a world with creatures and avatars, a carapace could serve as a natural armor that is enhanced by magical means.
- Absorption Coefficient: A more scientific term, but in a high magic realm, it could be a measure of how much magic is used to absorb or deflect an attack.
- Axiomatic Constraint: In a world where certain levels can be achieved and the “Mind’s Eye” is a factor, this term could imply that avoiding damage is part of the universal order dictated by a character’s enlightenment or understanding.
- Attenuation Coefficient: This term could denote a mathematical reduction of incoming damage or the probability of being hit, possibly governed by some magical or metaphysical principle.
- Atmospheric Cocoon: This could imply a bubble or layer of specialized atmosphere that cushions or deflects incoming attacks, powered by elemental magics.
- Arcanum Crust: A crust of arcane energy surrounding the character, protecting them from physical and magical attacks alike.
